Chaozhou One-Day Tour | Suitable for City Walk
Chaozhou is also a city that is very suitable for city walk🌆
I went there at the beginning of March, and only remembered when flipping through the photo album.
We took the high-speed train that day, and immediately took a taxi to the hotel to drop off our luggage.
✨Tips:
It is recommended to book a hotel near the ancient city, it's really much more convenient.
You can walk to all the attractions: Chaozhou Ancient City→Paifang Street→Kaiyuan Temple→Guangji Bridge.
The attractions are very concentrated, you can finish visiting in less than a day (the next morning we went directly to Shantou by taxi, we didn't go to other attractions).
✨Gourmet:
Fermented tofu chicken wings (delicious😋), Licorice fruit (I think it's just so-so), Oil mandarin juice (sour at first but sweet aftertaste, I really love it!)
Beef Kway Teow (delicious, worth trying for noodle lovers, beef ball kway teow is just average, the beef one is more delicious!)
Also, the people I met in Chaozhou were all very enthusiastic and friendly, full marks for the experience💯
There's more about Shantou coming up~

Shocking! Chaozhou actually produces such films!
I had heard about Chaozhou before, mainly because of the severe gender discrimination in the area, and I definitely experienced it during my half-day tour.
Chaozhou has a low population density, and buses will stop when you wave. When boarding, you need to tell the driver where you are going so they can charge you the correct fare. If you don't, you'll either be charged the maximum fare or get yelled at by the driver (to be honest, it's really scary when the driver starts shouting, and it seems like their operation isn't very regular. Who knows, I was on bus 101 going from Thai Buddha Temple to Han Gong Temple, and before reaching the last stop, the driver yelled at me to get off because he only went to the penultimate stop. I asked him why, and he looked like he was about to chop someone, it was terrifying jpq)
Back to the main topic, my route was Thai Buddha Temple to Han Wen Gong Temple to Guangji Bridge to Guangji Building to Pai Fang Street to Kaiyuan Temple to the high-speed train station. Han Wen Gong Temple was closed on Monday, so that was a wasted trip; Guangji Bridge had a half-price ticket of 10 yuan due to the weather; getting to Guangji Building could only be done by taxi, as it's not convenient by bus; the Thai Buddha Temple was under rough renovation, but there were many young ladies taking photos, which added some charm.
However, I was happy to encounter a super cute cat~ As soon as I squatted down to look at it, it rolled over and showed me its belly, I really am a cat magnet (shy face)

Spent half a day playing around the ancient city of Chaozhou√
Who knows! Because 'Du Sui Rui' is really powerful, we canceled tonight's Chaozhou homestay and the subsequent itinerary 55555 But unexpectedly, we almost finished playing in Chaozhou in half a day
We went straight to the ancient city of Chaozhou at noon, and parked the car at the foot of the city wall (maybe because we went early, we could still find a spot! In the evening when we drove, we found out that it was free! No wonder the snack bar owner said parking outside was free, I scanned my phone many times and it kept showing no record! Hahaha, the joy of freeloading
1 Because it was quite hot at noon, the snack bar owner said Kaiyuan Temple was cool, so we went there first. It is said that Kaiyuan Temple is very efficacious
2 Then we strolled around Paifang Street (actually, all the scenic spots in the ancient city are connected, with roads leading in all directions, you can just wander around) Lots of snacks! Oh right, we bought a lot of bottles of oil mandarin juice, really cheap, most of them 5 yuan per bottle, super healthy! Sweet aftertaste! Cooling and refreshing! Because it was too hot, we went to a dessert shop and had some, ordered turtle jelly and duck mother twist, it was just so-so, not the tasty kind of dessert, not recommended~
Then after 4 pm, we went to Guangji Building and Guangji Bridge, there were too many people on the bridge and it was very sunny, so we didn't go up, just looked at Guangji Bridge by the river~ (it's cooler with the shade of trees~) There are many sellers of autumn pear cream and luohan fruit drinks, reasonably priced, refreshing and tasty~4 Near Guangji Building, there are many tricycles offering tours of the eight scenic spots of Chaozhou ancient city, priced at 100/car (a car should fit up to three people at most! One person has to sit facing backwards) I, adhering to the principle of saving where I can, tried to bargain and successfully got it down to 70 yuan, then the three of us happily
Took a tricycle ride around the ancient city! Our driver was a local from Chaozhou
He was very honest and gave a detailed introduction, highly recommended! Because we went late, most of the scenic spots were closed, we could only take a quick look at the entrance Special reminder: the tricycle has a fixed route, it will take you to a place selling Chaozhou's three treasures, but it's okay if many don't buy anything, we just happened to want to buy so we bought a little) As for the duration of the whole tricycle ride, I feel it's about an hour? But this depends on how long you spend at the scenic spots and the speed of the tricycle. Overall, the tricycle experience was great!
5 After the tricycle ride, the end point was near Kaiyuan Temple, we walked to Xima Road to eat snacks~ Had fermented tofu chicken wings, salty rice cake, almond tea, rice cake, peach cake, phoenix tofu, oyster pancake, seaweed beef ball soup, sticky rice pork intestine, etc., didn't specifically look for shops, just bought from the ones with more people, emmm it was just okay, nothing amazing, maybe I'm just not very sensitive to this kind of food~ But it's still worth a try
6 Finally, we went to see the night view of Guangji Building, it was great! There were many stalls selling lanterns and hairpins, lanterns were basically 5-15 yuan, not sure about the hairpins, pretty cute~ (Oh right! When we were on the city wall, it suddenly started pouring rain, many people didn't bring umbrellas, the shops below immediately broadcasted: Selling raincoats and umbrellas! But it was just a shower, stopped after about ten minutes~)
7 Because we had to rush back to Xiamen, we didn't see the light show of Guangji Bridge~ But
we saw the night view of Guangji Bridge! Chaozhou·Guangdong

Chaozhou | Two days and one night trip with kids from Guangzhou
It takes 4 hours and 13 minutes to get from Baiyun to the hotel.
After arriving, you can go to Linjiang Hotel for tea. Due to time constraints, we settled here upon arrival in Chaozhou. For morning tea in Chaozhou, besides Han Shang Lou, Linjiang is one of the restaurants with better cost performance. Sitting by the window, sipping tea while overlooking the Han River, you can see the Guangji Bridge and Guangji Tower in the distance.
Recommendations: King of Shrimp Dumplings, Black Truffle Mushroom Dumplings, Chicken Feet, Spring Rolls, etc... The dim sum is quite good... Also, if you want to go to Han Shang Lou for morning tea, you can't reserve a seat, but you can for lunch.
🏠 Hotel: /It has its own outdoor parking lot which is very friendly for self-driving tours. After checking in, it's just a few minutes and a few yuan by taxi to Paifang Street, so don't drive there yourself as parking is difficult and it's congested.
In Chaozhou, we mostly focused on leisure with the kids, it's not suitable to be too tired or to rush around, and since we went in summer, we didn't go to Guangji Bridge and Guangji Tower because it was too hot, too hot, too hot...
Restaurants:
1·Xing Tea·Located on Paifang Street, almost everyone has a cup in hand, and you'd feel like you haven't been to Chaozhou if you don't buy one. Holding it in your hand and taking a photo under the archway, 'Yes, I've been here.' Picture 9
2·Zaiyang Tea House·Famed as the 'common people's stage', the kung fu tea performance and opera performance at Zaiyang Tea House are also very representative. We sat in a private room here (the private rooms have separate air conditioning in summer, which is cooler and better for groups). It's quiet for tea drinking, away from the noise of the main hall. Picture 10
When you're tired from walking, take a break 🦶 The interior of the store has a Republic of China style, paired with a cheongsam, you know, for photo shooting 🎥, creating a great atmosphere.
Price 💰 Tea (single-tree selection with small snacks)
First floor large table (4-8 people) 298
Second floor medium table (2-3 people) 198
Second floor small table (2 people) 168
3·Fulu Xi·Lu Shui Hot Pot·Beef Hot Pot (Ancient City Store), contact in advance to reserve a seat before going. When in Chaozhou, you must try the old brine hot pot. After returning to Guangzhou, I still can't stop thinking about it Recommendations: Traditional brine soup, brine noodles, fresh sliced beef, vegetable shrimp paste, Kung Fu Jiugongge (optional) mainly for taking good photos... Picture 11
4·Zaiyang Private Kitchen·Hidden in the small alleys under the archway, transformed from an ancient house, it feels like entering a scenic spot after going in. The walls are covered with plaques of awards won, specializing in Chao cuisine. If there are dishes you want to try, you can contact the owner in advance to arrange. Their charcoal-grilled conch is a must-try, and food critic Chua Lam even included it in his 'Must Eat Before You Die' list 😂 For a detailed introduction, you can check out 'Flavorful Origins'. Picture 12
5·Xie Huai Liang Sesame Tea·Recommend almond tea, sesame tea, etc. The flavors are rich and the texture is smooth, and it's cheap. Have it as a late-night snack, it's really delicious. It's suggested to order takeout after arriving at the hotel, as there are too many people queuing at the store... Picture 13

Chaozhou's Guangji Bridge: A Comprehensive Guide to the 'Bridge-Dismantling' Ritual Day After Day
Chaozhou's must-visit spot, the Guangji Bridge, is one of China's 'Four Ancient Bridges' and has been praised by bridge expert Mao Yisheng as 'the world's earliest open-close style bridge.' It was first built during the Southern Song Dynasty (1171).
👏 A full-day Guangji Bridge itinerary:
➡️ Pass through the ancient city and cross the Guangji Tower in the morning to see the boats come together to form the bridge
➡️ Spend 20💴 for a ticket to cross the bridge
➡️ Walk across the bridge to the Hanwen Gong Temple on the opposite bank, which is good for a half-day visit
➡️ Return from Guangji Bridge and enter the ancient city through the Xia Shui Men Tower into Paifang Street
➡️ Enjoy delicious food and stroll along Paifang Street in the afternoon
➡️ Watch the free Guangji Bridge light show at night
❓Do you need to buy another ticket to return from Hanwen Gong Temple across Guangji Bridge? ‼️ How to get a free pass ⚠️ Remember this:
When you walk from the Guangji Tower side to the exit on the Hanwen Gong Temple side
▶️ Find a staff member and show your Hanwen Gong Temple reservation page
▶️ They will direct you to the ticket office on the left side of the exit to register and get a stamp
▶️ On your return, you can cross the bridge for free with the stamped Guangji Bridge ticket and the Hanwen Gong Temple ticket (free of charge)!
(Note: It is not clear if this is still possible on holidays)
🚢 The floating bridge connection times are as follows:
February 1st—October 31st: 10:00—17:30
November 1st—January 31st: 10:00—16:30
⚠️ Note on holidays and weekends: 9:00—17:30
🌟 If you want to see the boats come together in the morning, you should arrive at least 40 minutes before the above connection times. (Don't be like that silly kid who arrived at 9:30 on the weekend thinking they could see it...)
🌟 If you want to witness the 'bridge-dismantling,' just get there before the last connection time. (Arriving early means shivering in the cold wind for nothing, like that silly kid named Jin Zhu La Mu...😂)
🎆 Guangji Bridge light show times and viewing spots at night:
Every night at 8:00 PM
Weekends at 8:00 PM and 9:30 PM
You should at least arrive 20 minutes early to secure a good spot (from Guangji Tower to Xia Shui Men Tower side, enjoy the view from the side of Guangji Bridge).
With this guide, you'll save at least 20 bucks and a lot of precious time. I've taken the detours so my 'jewels' don't have to.👏🌞
I am Jin Zhu La Mu, welcome to follow ♥️ and experience a different world together ✈️

The festive Guangji Tower
Guangji Tower is located in front of Guangji Bridge, in the center of Chaozhou city area, built during the Yongle period of the Ming Dynasty, and has been repaired many times, and now it has a history of nearly 600 years. The tower is three stories high, and the architectural style of Guangji Tower is unique, combining the delicacy of the south and the majesty of the north. The building is made of red brick and wood structure, and the roof is typical glazed tile. The exterior of the building is carved with beams and painted buildings, which are dazzling and show the exquisite craftsmanship and rich cultural heritage of the Ming Dynasty.

Guangjimen City Tower was originally called Guangji Building, also known as Hanjiang Tower. Folkly known as East Gate Building, it is the most spectacular one among the seven ancient gates of Chaozhou Ancient City. At the same time, it is not only the main symbol of Chaozhou famous city, but also an important gate of Chaozhou North Dike City Dyke.
Guangjimen Tower is a palace-style three-story mountaintop attic, imitation palace-style building, glass tile red wall, Zhuzhu lattice window, painted with carved beams, looks majestic. You can climb the tower and look up at the river opposite, and the scenery is spectacular. In Chaozhou, except for tricycles, the most common means of transportation is motorcycles. Two people who were full of panic and ran to the Guangji Bridge for a walk. If you want to visit Guangji Bridge during the day, you will be charged 50 yuan for a round trip to the bridge. Free for those over 60 years old. You can pay a fee to cross the bridge. I feel that there is not much need to waste this money. It is also good to see the scenery on the riverside.
Guangji Bridge is the first open-closed stone bridge in China, also known as Xiangzi Bridge. Located outside the Guangji City Gate of the ancient city, it was built in Song Dynasty. It consists of a set of pavilions similar to pavilions. It is a typical Lingnan wind and rain bridge style. It is connected by a pontoon bridge. When a ship comes over, it can be untied for ships to pass. When there is no ship, it is connected for visitors to cross the road.
