It took 180 years to complete and is a grand late Gothic building. Many famous figures in Dutch history, including pastors, scientists, and painters, are buried here. #familytrips2024 Do you know that in the Netherlands, the Flower Parade is the highlight of spring? The annual Flower Parade Bollenstreek is a big-scale 1 day parade where the participants and the Flower Parade floats travel around 42.5km from Noordwijk to Haarlem. The floats will arrive at night and will be on display the next day at Haarlem city centre till the next day's evening. The floats were very well-made from flowers, and they were all so pretty 😍. You can see all the floats up close and take pictures with your favorite floats. Do come earlier in the morning as there will be more people coming from other parts of the Netherlands in the late morning/afternoon, and you might not be able to enjoy as much.

We ventured to Haarlem via train and it was such a smooth ride👍 Haarlem has preserved much of its historical architecture, allowing visitors to experience the beauty of its past while enjoying modern comforts. With a population of approximately 155,000 residents, the city has a vibrant community that takes pride in its heritage. The streets are lined with quaint cafes and shops, where locals and tourists alike gather to enjoy the warm atmosphere and indulge in a cup of freshly brewed coffee. Haarlem is located 20 km west of Amsterdam. It is one of the most populous cities in Europe and one of the oldest small cities in the Netherlands. It has been known for its tulips for centuries and is known as the "City of Flowers." Although it is not as bustling as Amsterdam, the Spaarne River flows slowly through Haarlem, bringing vitality to the city. 💜 We set off from Utrecht to Zaanse Schans Windmill Village and stopped here on the way. It was worth it! The Adriaan Windmill, Haarlem City Gate, and St. Bavo's Church are all must-sees, but I would like to recommend a building called Koepelgevangenis, not far from the Adriaan Windmill. It was originally a prison designed by Johan Metzelaar. It closed in 2016 and has now been transformed into a commercial building for both office and leisure use. Some of the original prison cells and building structures have been preserved for visitors to see. It's very interesting. 💥 We were lucky enough to meet a Chinese professor who was teaching here. He explained the building to us in his spare time. The professor believes that this will become another important landmark in Haarlem. 💫 In addition, the Adriaan Windmill is a must-see. More interestingly, there is a bridge with traffic lights next to the windmill. If you are lucky, you can see the bridge open for large ships to pass through. The 800-year-old city gate is also worth a visit. 💗 As for St. Bavo's Church, the ticket is EUR 4. If you want to see the huge organ that young Mozart played, the ticket is worth it. After purchasing the ticket, you will also receive a copy of the Chinese guide, which will help you understand the past and present of St. Bavo's Church. 😸
