Taipei Keelung Travel Guide
Day 1: Arrive in Taipei and explore Taipei's landmarks
1. Arrive in Taipei
Whether you take a plane or high-speed rail, it is recommended to choose a convenient means of transportation to enter Taipei City. After arriving, go to the hotel to place your luggage and relax.
2. Taipei 101
- Take the MRT to Taipei 101/World Trade Center Station (Tamsui-Xinyi Line).
- Visit Taipei 101 Observatory (it is recommended to buy a ticket to the 89th floor, where you can overlook the entire Taipei city).
- Visit Taipei 101 shopping mall, which has many high-end brands and delicious food. Go to Din Tai Fung at Taipei 101 to taste the famous xiaolongbao, which is Din Tai Fung’s signature dish, as well as some special Taiwanese dishes, such as red oil wonton and beef noodles.
1. Shopping in Xinyi Shopping District
There are many shopping malls near Taipei 101, such as Shin Kong Mitsukoshi A9, A11, Breeze Xinyi, etc., which are suitable for shopping or a simple walk.
If you like taking photos, you can also go to the nearby "Xinyi Xiangti Boulevard" or "Elephant Mountain Trail" to take a panoramic view of Taipei 101.
You can go to the night market to shop and eat at night. The first choice is Raohe Night Market, which has a wide variety of food.
Raohe Night Market (MRT Songshan Station)
You can come here for dinner to experience Taiwan's night market culture. We recommend trying authentic snacks such as pepper cakes, large intestine wrapped in small intestine, and oyster omelette.
Day 2: Shifen, New Taipei City, experience nature and nostalgia
morning:
1. Take the train to Pingxi Line (Shifen Station)
- Take the train from Taipei Main Station to Ruifang, then transfer to the Pingxi Line train to Shifen Station.
- Release sky lanterns at Shifen Station and write down your wishes. This is one of the most famous places for releasing sky lanterns in Taiwan and is very romantic.
2. Shifen Waterfall
- It takes about 20 minutes to walk from Shifen Station to the waterfall, which is known as the "Nicaragua Falls of Taiwan".
- There are beautiful trails and viewing platforms around the waterfall, which are great for taking photos and walking.

- Local snacks
There are many snack stands near Shifen Station, selling fried chicken, ice cream, peanut ice cream rolls, etc. You can try them at will.
afternoon:
1. Explore along the Pingxi Line
If you have enough time, you can continue to take the Pingxi Line to other stations, such as Jingtong Station (nostalgic old street) or Houtong (famous cat village).
night:
- Return to Taipei and go shopping in Ximending at night
- After returning to Taipei, I recommend going to Ximending, which is the favorite trendy area for young people. You can go shopping, have a drink, or have dinner.
- I recommend trying Ah Zong Noodles or Duck Meat Bian Restaurant.
Day 3: Yehliu Geopark, experience the wonders of nature
morning:
1. Go to Liu Geopark
- Take Keelung Bus (Route 1815) from Taipei to Yehliu Geopark, the journey takes about 1.5 hours.
- Visit the famous "Queen's Head" and "Fairy Shoes" and other strange rocks in the park to experience the beauty and uniqueness of the sea erosion topography.

- Yehliu Fishing Port Seafood Restaurant
There are many fishing port restaurants near Yehliu where you can try local seafood dishes. We recommend steamed crab with garlic sauce, steamed grouper, etc.
afternoon:
1. Free activities in Keelung city
If you have time, you can take a short tour of Keelung Temple Entrance or the scenery of Keelung Port. The atmosphere here is very unique.
night:
- Keelung Night Market (Miaokou Night Market)
Keelung Miaokou Night Market is one of the famous night markets in Taiwan. It is recommended to try authentic snacks such as Dingbianfu, nutritious sandwiches, and bubble ice.
Day 4: National Palace Museum and Shilin Exploration
morning:
1. The Palace Museum
-Take the MRT to Shilin Station and transfer to the bus to the National Palace Museum.
- There are many treasures of Chinese culture collected here, such as the Jade Cabbage, Maogong Ding, Meat-shaped Stone, etc. Each exhibition hall is worth savoring.
afternoon:
1. Shilin Official Residence Garden
- Visit the Shilin Residence, the former residence of Chiang Kai-shek and Soong Mei-ling. The rose garden and western-style buildings in the park are very suitable for taking photos.
2. Shilin Night Market (dinner option)
For dinner, go to Shilin Night Market, one of the largest night markets in Taipei. Popular snacks include Haoda Chicken Steak, Frog Egg Drink, etc.
Day 5: Relaxing itinerary and souvenir shopping
morning:
1. Pray at Longshan Temple and Bopiliao Historic District
- Take the MRT to Longshan Temple Station, pray and experience Taiwan’s religious culture.
- Then walk to the Bopiliao Historical District, which is a well-preserved Qing Dynasty building suitable for taking photos and walking.
afternoon:
1. Buying souvenirs
- Go back to Taipei Main Station and visit shopping malls such as Q Main Station and Breeze Taipei Main Station to pick out pineapple cakes, sun cakes, or other souvenirs. For pineapple cakes, we recommend the ones from Hot Hills and Chia Te. The taste is really good.
- If you like cultural and creative products, Eslite Bookstore or Songshan Cultural and Creative Park are also good choices.
night:
- End of the trip and prepare to return
