The ancient city of Great Zimbabwe is located in the southeast of Harare. It is the largest and most important memorial hall of ancient civilization in the south of the Sahara. In Africa, the ancient city is second only to the pyramids of Egypt in terms of size and importance. The country name of Zimbabwe comes from the Great Zimbabwe Ruins, and the Zimbabwe bird unearthed here is also one of the symbols of Zimbabwe. The ruins of this ancient city are conclusive evidence of early African civilization. Archaeological discoveries prove that the ancient city of Great Zimbabwe was the capital of great religious significance at that time. The tower-shaped stone house was a dwelling between the 12th and 15th centuries, when about 2,000 Shona people lived here. The area of the ancient city ruins is 270 hectares, and it takes tourists a whole day to appreciate its majesty. There are seven sculptures in the ruins of the site, the most prominent of which is the stone osprey with different styles. Among the boulders on the top of the mountain stands a stone castle, overlooking the valley from the castle, and the scenery is spectacular. Below the castle is a double wall with a diameter of 250 meters and a wall of 10 meters. In addition to the huge cone-shaped castle, there are smaller fortresses and walls, which are the entrances to the underground passages. All structures are built from millions of pieces of rock. It is the site of an unforgettable stone structure, without stucco, arches and domes, which is a contemporary mystery with its more mysterious and complex architecture.
