It was my first time doing a road trip to visit the Great Ocean Road in Melbourne Australia, and it was an unforgettable experience!
An extremely scenic drive, the top attraction at the Great Ocean Road is without a doubt is the Twelve Apostles rock formations – in fact there are less than twelve, with the others having collapsed into the sea.
This is one of the world’s most famous coastal journeys you won’t want to miss!
My rating of this attraction: 5 ⭐️ out of 5!

Most impressive coastal drive in Australia
#bucketlistreboot
Great Ocean Road in Southern Australia is one of the most impressive coastal destinations in Australia.
It is also one of the most beautiful scenic roads in the world. Stretching for 243km between Torquay to Wattnambool, the Great Ocean Road has a lot to offer: rugged cliffs, beautiful rock formations, scenic viewpoints, stunning beaches, charming town, wildlife and many more.
As there are so many things to see along Great Ocean Road, it will be overwhelming if you plan to complete in a day. Stretch it to at least 2 days with a night over at Port Campell or Apollo Bay.
Do check out if there’s any road work during the day you plan to drive.

Magnificent Twelve Apostles
#createwithtrip
Great Ocean Road is about 200 plus kilometres stretch of Coastline Road along the south eastern part of Australia. It was one of the most gorgeous attraction of Victoria state. I remember years ago when I was studying in Melbourne, we will always took this journey when friends or relatives visited.
You can either joined a bus tour arranged by local tour operators or if you prefer the flexibility along the journey, you can drive and stop at different scenic points along the way.
The most iconic part of the tour is definitely The Twelve Apostles. The formation of rocks raised from the sea is magnificent and rarely seen in other parts of the world. A great spot for photos and selfie.
Other unforgettable scenic spots include the famous lighthouse guiding the waterway of Anglesea at Cape airway. One of my other favourite attraction is the Loch Ard Gorge. you can actually take a hike down to the bay and explore the magnificent site. It is simply the best.
There are plenty of food joints along the way and you can stop at various places to savour the local cuisine. Among them are the famous town of Torquay and Port Campbell.
This tour is the perennial favourite and I would recommend it with my both hands and foots.

A Solo Journey Along the Great Ocean Road
#australiatrip
The Great Ocean Road is a breathtaking coastal drive that offers stunning natural beauty and iconic landmarks. As a solo traveler, I embarked on a journey to explore this magnificent stretch of coastline, with the iconic Twelve Apostles as my ultimate destination.
The road itself is a masterpiece of engineering, winding along cliffs, through lush forests, and past secluded beaches. Each bend revealed a new panorama of breathtaking coastal scenery. I stopped at various lookout points to capture the stunning views of the rugged coastline, the crashing waves, and the towering cliffs.
The highlight of my trip was undoubtedly the Twelve Apostles. These majestic limestone stacks rise dramatically from the Southern Ocean, creating a truly awe-inspiring sight. I spent hours marveling at their beauty and capturing the perfect shot.
For a truly immersive experience, consider camping along the Great Ocean Road. Many campsites offer stunning views of the coast and the opportunity to stargaze at night.
As a solo traveler, I found the Great Ocean Road to be a safe and rewarding experience. The stunning scenery, the fresh sea air, and the solitude of the journey provided a much-needed escape from the hustle and bustle of city life.

Journey Along the Majestic Great Ocean Road
#australiatrip
Embarking on the Great Ocean Road tour was an exhilarating adventure through some of Australia's most spectacular coastal scenery. Starting from Melbourne, our journey hugged the rugged southern coastline of Victoria, offering breathtaking views at every turn.
The iconic Twelve Apostles stood as monumental sentinels against the crashing waves of the Southern Ocean, their limestone stacks glowing in the warm hues of sunrise. Nearby, the Loch Ard Gorge evoked a sense of maritime history, with its dramatic cliffs and tales of shipwrecks adding a poignant touch to the landscape.
Driving further along, the lush rainforests of the Otway Ranges provided a refreshing contrast, offering glimpses of native wildlife and tranquil waterfalls. The serenity of Apollo Bay and its pristine beaches invited moments of relaxation, while quaint seaside towns like Lorne and Port Campbell offered charming stops for local cuisine and souvenir shopping.
Exploring the Great Ocean Road wasn't just about its natural wonders; it was also a journey through history. The Memorial Arch commemorated the labor of World War I servicemen who built this iconic road, adding a layer of reverence to our scenic drive.
Each stop along the way revealed a new facet of Australia's natural beauty and cultural heritage, from the rugged cliffs of the Shipwreck Coast to the verdant hinterland dotted with quaint villages. The tour was expertly guided, with informative commentary enriching our understanding of the region's geology, ecology, and history.

Great Ocean Road Highlights
#melbournetrip
If you’re on the Great Ocean Road, it’s likely that you’re a big fan of nature. Good news is that there are tons of beautiful rocks and water sights to be seen. Beaches that seemingly never end, huge pillars of rocks that are slowly eroding at its base because of the ocean, and the best is definitely just the sound of crashing waves as you drive along the roads along the ocean.
There are plenty of other sights like the red forest, etc. But if you’re there during March, be mindful of when the sun sets because there is no light source in some areas along the Great Ocean Road.

🇦🇺Oh, the Great Ocean Road near Melbourne!
It's like Mother Nature went on a wild joyride and left us with this epic masterpiece of a road trip.
First off, the scenery is so jaw-droppingly stunning that you might just lose your car keys in sheer amazement. The Twelve Apostles? More like "Twelve Absolutely Mind-Blowing Natural Sculptures!" You won't know whether to take photos or propose to the view.
✨But here's the twist: The road is like a giant wind tunnel, so if your hair is on point when you start, it'll be a work of modern art by the time you finish. Consider it a free, nature-inspired hair makeover. The Great Ocean Road is nature's ultimate show-off moment, where you'll see more jaw-dropping sights than you can count, making friends with the friendly locals, and enjoy a hair-raising adventure—all in one epic road trip.
Melbourne, you really nailed this one‼️

The great ocean road is definitely something you need to check out when you are in Melbourne. The views along the coastal line is superb. You could opt for a nice one night stay, the airbnbs seem awesome. I did a day tour which I think it’s sufficient to see and experience the nature.

Great Ocean Road - Melbourne!
What can I say, photos really can’t do justice to the beauty of nature! It was just so therapeutic looking at the waves crashing, and the never ending strong winds messing up your hair, but the beauty of the 12 apostles was worth it, after a 3-4 hours drive from the Melbourne city! :)
