Seoul Indoor Media Art Exhibition 'Theater of Light'
Many people are looking for indoor exhibitions and attractions during the hot summer and rainy season. I visited an immersive media art exhibition currently being held in Seoul.
🗓️ ~11/24
⏰ 10:00~19:10
📍 177 Walkerhill-ro, Gwangjin-gu, Seoul, Walkerhill Hotel B1 Floor
The Theater of Light is an immersive media art exhibition where you can view various works by 17th-century Dutch masters from different angles in a 1,500-pyeong space.
The Grand Walkerhill Hotel, once a cultural hub frequented by many, has now been reborn as a venue for immersive art exhibitions.
The immersive media art exhibition is characterized by the ability to freely move around a large space while enjoying three-dimensional changing artworks accompanied by grand music.
You can view works by various 17th-century Dutch artists, providing an opportunity to reflect on the culture, society, and atmosphere of that era.
The works of 17th-century Netherlands often feature women as the main subjects, such as the Girl with a Pearl Earring, and the portraits tend to have a somewhat heavy atmosphere.
In addition, there are many grand and splendid works, making it feel like you have indirectly experienced 17th-century Netherlands.
The exhibition runs for about 55 minutes, consisting of a main video of about 35 minutes and an exhibition by architect Mondrian for about 15 minutes.
The Theater of Light has a spacious area with seats, bean bags, and spaces where you can lie down, allowing for a comfortable viewing experience.
The Grand Walkerhill Hotel also operates a free shuttle bus and has separate lockers, making it convenient to move around and enjoy the exhibition with a light heart.
I recommend the 'Theater of Light' at the Grand Walkerhill Hotel to those looking for an indoor exhibition this summer.

At the Light Theater, the sound that matches the artwork resonates throughout the spacious area, creating a more majestic feeling as the sound intensifies.
Visitors can freely roam the vast space, view the artworks from various angles, and take photos that make them feel one with the art.
The Light Theater runs for about 55 minutes per session, from the first session at 10:00 to the tenth session at 18:15. The exhibition consists of a 35-minute main video and a 15-minute exhibition by architect Mondrian.
There is no limit to the number of times you can view the exhibition, so it's recommended to watch it 2-3 times. Focus on the artwork during the first viewing and take memorable photos during the second.
Inside the art hall, you can also view a special exhibition by Jang Ji-yeon. This special exhibition, titled 'As time flows, even the most familiar objects and spaces become increasingly unfamiliar,' features mysterious and eerie videos. Be sure to check out the special exhibition as well.
