stay
Near the Bell and Drum Tower: Xi'an city center, the advantage is that it is close to the scenic spots and the Muslim Street Food Street, but the disadvantage is that the price is high, there are many people and cars, and there are serious traffic jams during peak hours.
Near Yongning Gate: 1 station away from the Bell and Drum Towers, the price is about the same as the Bell and Drum Towers, the advantage is convenient transportation and a wide range of delicious food
Near the Big Wild Goose Pagoda: Very close to the Tang Dynasty Sleepless City and the Tang Dynasty Furong Garden. It is convenient for watching the night view. It is also convenient to take a subway or taxi around.
Near high-speed rail station/Xi'an Station: transportation to scenic spots is also convenient
Four-day tour classic route: 1 Arrive in Xi'an - Check into the hotel
I’m too tired from driving. I’ll take a nice rest after landing, and then go out for a stroll in the evening.
~
2 Terracotta Warriors-Huaqing Palace-The Everlasting City of the Tang Dynasty-Song of Everlasting Sorrow
The tour guide explains the Terracotta Warriors and Horses, and the experience is different! Go to Datang Evernight City in the evening and there are many performances there. It is very lively. Don’t miss it.
3Ming Dynasty City Wall-Big Wild Goose Pagoda-Bell and Drum Tower-Muslim Street
You can rent a bicycle to enjoy the scenery at the city wall, otherwise you will be too tired to walk. Going to the Bell and Drum Tower at night is very photogenic when the lights are on. Sisters who want to take pictures of Hanfu, don’t miss it. There are many snacks in Huimin Street~
4Huashan-Return
Huashan Mountain is a bit steep, but the scenery is super beautiful. Remember to wear sneakers. If you are lucky, you can also see the sea of clouds. There is a ropeway, and you can walk up it on your own~
Xi'an travel lightning protection suggestions
You can often see people wearing strange clothes near the Big Wild Goose Pagoda. If you want to take a photo with you, there is actually a fee.
Don't buy Xi'an specialties near major scenic spots. They are expensive. It is recommended to go to local supermarkets, which are economical and affordable.
The Tang Dynasty Never Sleeps City at night has a high photo production rate, so don’t go there during the day as it has a strong commercial atmosphere.
Most of the scenic spots in Xi'an require tickets. If you have a student ID card, remember to bring it with you. It's very important!
The Internet celebrity snack Brush Pastry is expensive and I personally don’t think it tastes good, so don’t buy it.
Huimin Street is heavily commercialized. Most of the people who check in are foreign tourists. Please take care of your belongings.
If Baozi is going to Xi'an for the first time and doesn't want to do a guide but can't book a hotel, he can sign up for a local tuan for fun, which will save him a lot of worry, especially when watching the Song of Everlasting Sorrow show at night. The last one was after 11 o'clock, and there is no subway. It is inconvenient to go back to the city. But you must be careful when signing up for a group tour to avoid the pitfalls of low-priced tours! If you need it! I can recommend it to everyone.

ELSIE REEVES
I stayed in Xi'an for 4 days, and here's my heartfelt advice
After staying in Xi'an for 4 days and testing it out myself, I strongly advise everyone to plan ahead before you go, because Xi'an will really punish anyone who doesn't! 🌟
Whether you want to travel freely or join a reliable tour group, you should learn about the prices of hotels and tickets in advance, calculate the travel costs, and then decide whether to join a tour group or not.

⚠️Xi'an travel tips to avoid pitfalls
🌀Near the Giant Wild Goose Pagoda, you often see people dressed in strange costumes who want to take photos with you, but they actually charge a fee.
🌀Don't buy Xi'an specialties near major attractions, as they are expensive. It's recommended to go to local supermarkets, which are economical and affordable.
🌀The Great Tang All Day Mall has a high photo success rate at night, so don't go during the day when it's very commercial.
🌀Most attractions in Xi'an require tickets, so it's very important to remember to bring your student ID if you have one!
🌀The internet-famous snack 'Mao Bi Su' is expensive and personally, I don't think it tastes good, so definitely don't buy it.
🌀Muslim Street is heavily commercialized, and most of the visitors who go there to check in are from out of town. Be sure to take good care of your personal belongings.
🔥If it's your first time in Xi'an and you don't want to plan and can't book a hotel, you can join a local pure play group, which will save you a lot of hassle, especially when watching 'The Song of Everlasting Sorrow' performance at night. The last show ends after eleven, and there's no subway, so it's inconvenient to return to the city center. But be cautious when joining a tour group to avoid falling into the trap of low-priced tours❗ If needed, I can make recommendations for you~
MAVERICK CRAWFORD
A travel guide to Xi'an for first-timers!
Local tips coming your way! If you're planning a trip to Xi'an, you must read and save this practical guide I've painstakingly put together❤️🔥
For your reference✨
🔥Must-visit attractions
👉🏻Bell Tower, Drum Tower: The Bell Tower is located in the center of Xi'an, a landmark building, and the Drum Tower is next to the Muslim Quarter. Both are close by, a 5-minute walk apart, and there's a joint ticket for climbing both towers for 50 RMB;
🌸Tips: The views from the towers and from the outside each have their own charm. For outdoor photos, go to the observation deck on the 5th floor of Kaiyuan Mall next to the Bell Tower. The photo angle is superb, and it's free❗
👉🏻Tang Paradise, Big Wild Goose Pagoda: These places are frequently trending online. It's less crowded during the day, but the real scene comes alive at night;
It's recommended to go in the afternoon, start with the Big Wild Goose Pagoda (no need to go up, outdoor photos are classic). You can check the performance schedule on the Tang Paradise official account, plan ahead to queue for the show you're most interested in, as it really gets crowded to the point of questioning life
👉🏻Xi'an City Wall: Allocate enough time here, it's easy to get up but hard to come down, with a total length of 13.7 kilometers. It's worth renting a bicycle to go around (45 RMB/3 hours). The Yongning Gate is the most classic city gate, and it's the best spot for a photo🌈
👉🏻Terracotta Army: Tickets are 120 RMB per person, located outside the main urban area of Xi'an, quite far, one of the world's eight wonders. Don't set your expectations too high, it's one of those heritage sites where you feel like since you're there, you've got to check it off your list. Hiring a guide can make it more interesting.
🔥Must-try local foods
Shaanxi cuisine: You can go to Chang'an Stove under Yongning Gate, classic and authentic, with dishes like gourd chicken, clothes-hanging tripe that are both good-looking and tasty, and elbow rice that's very fragrant. You can also enjoy the city wall view⭐️
Snacks: Roujiamo (meat sandwich), gourd chicken, beef and mutton paomo (locals prefer beef paomo, ✨it's suggested to try paomo, water basin, and small stir-fry, each with its own flavor), gourd head, zeng cake (don't buy mirror cake, it's not tasty! Take my advice!), biangbiang noodles, rice skin, meatball hot and spicy soup, oil tea;
The Muslim Quarter is not as bad as rumored, avoid common snacks like grilled squid❌
Recommended is Grandma's sour plum soup, choose half-and-half with fermented glutinous rice sour plum soup, delicious!

🏠Accommodation: This time I chose the Lychee Jianzhu Hotel next to the Northwest University Store in Xi'an. The price/performance ratio is super high. It is relatively close to various attractions and the subway. Overall, I am very satisfied with this hotel~

The Grand Tang Dynasty · Ancient Capital Xi'an | Three Days and Two Nights Special Forces Travel
Recommended 9⃣ favorite cities | Xi'an
Travel Date: May 2021.
Xi'an, formerly known as Chang'an, was the capital of thirteen dynasties, hence it has the deepest cultural heritage and history. I have been to Xi'an several times back and forth. Here, you can encounter history, culture, cuisine, architecture...
📸 Itinerary
DAY01: Shaanxi History Museum - Da Ci'en Temple/Grand Tang Mall
DAY02: Terracotta Army of Emperor Qin Shi Huang - Huaqing Pool Performance
DAY03: Famen Temple - Ancient City Wall - Muslim Street/Spray Gold Bridge
🔥 Key points here / Pitfall Guide
📍 Shaanxi History Museum
China's first large-scale modern national museum, with a collection of over 370,000 items, ranging from Shang and Zhou bronzes, terracotta figures from various dynasties, Han and Tang gold and silverware to Tang tomb murals, known as the treasure house of Chinese civilization.
▪️ Book in advance, Tang Dynasty Mural Exhibition 300 yuan / Tang Dynasty Treasures 30 yuan
▪️ Human guide basic hall 100, treasure hall 50 yuan
▪️ Audio guide rental 30, deposit 100
📍 Da Ci'en Temple/Grand Tang Paradise/Grand Tang Mall
Da Ci'en Temple is most famous for the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, which was built under the supervision of Xuanzang to preserve the scriptures and Buddha statues he brought back. Grand Tang Paradise is mainly a large-scale royal theme park showcasing the culture of the prosperous Tang Dynasty. There are also many performances in the park at different times.
🌈 If time is short, it is recommended to go directly to the Grand Tang Mall to experience the bustling Tang Dynasty night market! After all, the night view here is exciting!
📍 Muslim Street/Spray Gold Bridge
Muslim Street is basically one of the most concentrated tourist food spots, very crowded, and the dining prices on Muslim Street are not cheap, it can be treated as a sight to stroll through.
➡️ As for Spray Gold Bridge, there are fewer people compared to Muslim Street, but it's not exactly off the beaten path anymore. I personally recommend the old alleys next to Spray Gold Bridge, which are very nice to walk through and have an authentic local atmosphere.
📍 Terracotta Army of Emperor Qin Shi Huang
Approved by the United Nations in 1987 to be listed in the 'World Heritage List', it is known as the eighth wonder of the world. This attraction needs no introduction, a pride of the Chinese people. It's very crowded, be careful not to get pushed over.
📍 Huaqing Pool
Huaqing Pool, also known as Li Palace, where Yang Guifei bathed, is a very small pool. 🌈 The evening performance of 'The Song of Everlasting Sorrow' is recommended, with a total of ten acts, lasting 70 minutes. The performance is beautiful, and the prosperity of the Grand Tang Dynasty is worth seeing.
📍 Famen Temple
Founded during the Eastern Han Dynasty, it has a history of over 1900 years. Located in Baoji City, also known as the True Body Pagoda, it became a holy place for Buddhism because it houses the finger bone relics of Sakyamuni Buddha.
Famen Temple visit order: Old Temple > Museum > New Temple
➡️ Inside the Ten-Combined Relic Pagoda, which has an investment of over 5 billion, there is a performance about the past of Famen, which is quite beautiful. Friends who have the money and leisure can go and see it.
📍 Ancient City Wall
On the last day, you can climb the Ming Dynasty Ancient City Wall, which is the largest and most intact ancient city wall existing in China. There are four city gates in total, and the wall is especially magnificent at sunset. Highly recommended!

The Tang Dynasty Everbright City worth visiting
The Tang Dynasty Everbright City in Xi'an has gained fame in recent years, and I was fortunate to come here for a visit, feeling that it lives up to its reputation. Although it is a man-made cultural attraction, it is built next to the famous Big Wild Goose Pagoda, which gives a sense of borrowing the scenery to create a mood. Coupled with the grand and high-quality central axis sculpture group, and the original cultural venues on both sides of the street, such as Shaanxi Grand Theater, Shaanxi Culture Museum, Xi'an Art Museum, and Xuanzang Bronze Statue Square, it forms a cultural attraction with Xi'an characteristics. Plus, many beautiful women dressed in Tang and Han costumes take photos at the scenic spots, as if Yang Guifei is everywhere, really forming a wonderful scene of the Tang Dynasty Everbright City. The scenic area is free to visit, and you can also appreciate the charm of the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, so it is a scenic spot worth visiting for everyone who comes to Xi'an. If you are interested, you can also take some good photos...

Dreaming of the Tang Dynasty, traveling through a thousand years to love you!
On the first day I arrived in Xi'an, I found a very unique courtyard homestay and booked a room with a large terrace. I was surprised when I entered the room! There was a large bathtub that I liked, and the welcome tea and snacks were very thoughtful, which was comforting for a solo traveler! I liked the overall feeling of the hotel. The Big Wild Goose Pagoda was right across from the hotel, and there were many places to take photos in Hanfu and visit attractions right outside the hotel. It was very easy to find and the transportation was very convenient. It was located between Dayan Pagoda Station and Grand Tang Mall Station, and there was a very unique shopping mall, Joy City, nearby. The hotel gave me a very good first impression of Xi'an ❤️ You must try the hotel's breakfast, which will make you feel like you have traveled back to the Tang Dynasty! There are Hanfu rental shops everywhere near the Grand Tang Mall, so you can also experience the feeling of being an empress. Although it was foggy on the first day, the Big Wild Goose Pagoda in the rain was also very beautiful~

If you're feeling down, take a trip to the Grand Tang Mall.
I want to express my love for Xi'an 🏯
The magnetic field of Xi'an gives me a feeling of stability and reliability, with a power that calms people down. This is probably due to the weight of the city, which has been baptized by the ups and downs of 13 dynasties. Unlike Nanjing, which gives me a feeling of being too oppressive and serious, Xi'an is lively and bustling, but not too ostentatious.
If you visit a purely entertainment city, you will be stimulated in your senses and temporarily relaxed in your body, but you may still feel empty afterwards. Xi'an gives people the feeling that you can wander around alone with your own mood. If you feel down, I suggest you visit the Grand Tang Mall, which is always so lively. To be honest, Chinese red is absolutely amazing, and seeing it more often will really give you strength.
Here you can see many girls wearing Hanfu and Tang costumes. Walking through the crowd really gives you a sense of time and space. You can hear both modern internet celebrity concerts and melodious ancient music, and there is always a song that will touch you. There are both modern snack bars and antique handmade stalls.
By the way, the food in this scenic spot is also delicious. Speaking of food, the deliciousness of Xi'an cuisine exceeded my expectations. At mealtime, the smell is really too tempting! Even if you're not hungry, you'll be tempted. How can a bowl of noodles that looks ordinary be so delicious? And the roujiamo is crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, with fragrant meat. It's so delicious that it makes you cry. There are also cold noodles, rice noodles, vegetable buns, paomo, oil-splashed noodles, saozi noodles, belt noodles, hulu tou, and biangbiang noodles that I ate in Beijing and still remember the taste. There are really too many to mention.
Moreover, I think the local customs here are also very good. I have always had a good impression of Xi'an people. They are generous, reliable, and trustworthy. This time, I still feel the same way. The residents of this city have a sense of "responsibility." Even the ride-hailing driver said that because he was once asked by a girl when the city wall was built and couldn't answer, he felt ashamed as a Xi'an native for not knowing. So he went back and studied history, and now he can talk about the city's development history endlessly, like a professional. 😃 People from the northwest have a natural aura of reliability. In short, the experience is very good, and I really recommend everyone to go. Of course, there are usually a lot of people, and there are even more during holidays, so try to travel during off-peak times.

I got my makeup done at a shop near the Grand Tang Mall. You need to make an appointment in advance on weekends. The clothes are of good quality. I chose red, which was a wise choice. It looks great in night shots!
🌈 I was very satisfied with the makeup. I communicated the hairstyle and makeup I wanted in advance. The foundation was too white, but it looked great in photos!
The photographer was fully booked, so I made an appointment for 9:30 pm. I decided to find a photographer on site.
🌈 There are many photographers here. Each has a small cart full of props and lights. The photos were great, and it only cost CNY 150. I didn't want retouching, so they took a few more photos for me.
I took some photos during the day and came back at night for night shots. The schedule was flexible.
💕 Grand Tang Mall
1️⃣ There is a fountain show at 7 pm. It's spectacular, so you can arrive early to get a good spot.
2️⃣ It gets dark at 8 pm, so you can start taking night shots.
3️⃣ If you don't hire a photographer, remember to bring your own lights.
4️⃣ If you hire a photographer, just do your own makeup. There are plenty of props.
5️⃣ I hired someone else to take photos at the Chang'an Red Wall. It cost CNY 10 per photo or CNY 20 for 3 photos. I came for the cute and well-behaved cat.

Xi'an's carb dishes, with their rich variety, unique taste, and deep cultural heritage, have become an indispensable part of the city. From a bowl of hot meatball hulatang in the morning, to a plate of golden and crispy oil-splashed noodles in the afternoon, to a bowl of warm and delicious mutton paomo at night, carbohydrates play a crucial role in the diet of Xi'an locals.

Xi'an Travel Diary.
🏰 Xi'an, an ancient and modern city - My Xi'an travel experience 🌟
Xi'an, a city with a thousand years of history, has always been a dream destination for me. Finally, in this golden October, I embarked on a journey to Xi'an to explore its ancient stories and modern vitality.🚀
First Impression of Xi'an: A Sense of Historical Depth 🏛️
The plane landed at Xi'an Xianyang International Airport, and I immediately felt the unique atmosphere of this city. Xi'an, formerly known as Chang'an, is one of the four ancient capitals of China, with a history of over 3,100 years and a capital city history of over 1,100 years. Every brick and tile here seems to tell a story of the past.🏰
Terracotta Army: Guardians of a Thousand Years 🪖
My first stop was the World Heritage Site - the Terracotta Army of Emperor Qin Shi Huang. Standing in front of these lifelike terracotta figures, I was deeply moved. They seem to be the guardians of time, silently guarding that glorious history. Each terracotta warrior has a different expression, making one wonder about their stories before death.🤭
Ancient City Wall: Witness of History 🛕
Xi'an's ancient city wall is one of the most complete ancient city walls in China. I cycled around the city wall, feeling the weight of history. Under the city wall, there is a bustling modern city, while on the city wall, there is a timeless tranquility. This fusion of ancient and modern makes one feel a thousand emotions.🚴♀️
Muslim Quarter: Paradise of Food 🍢
Xi'an's cuisine is also a highlight of my trip. In the Muslim Quarter, I tasted various authentic Shaanxi snacks: Rou Jia Mo, Liangpi, Mutton Paomo... Each bite is an extreme temptation for the taste buds. The food here is not only a taste bud experience, but also a cultural experience.🍲
Tang Dynasty Everbright City: Modern Prosperity 🌃
Xi'an at night is equally charming. Tang Dynasty Everbright City is brightly lit, with various modern entertainment facilities and performances that are dazzling. Here, I felt the modern charm of Xi'an. This city, while preserving tradition, is also constantly developing and innovating.🎇
Xi'an People: Enthusiasm and Friendliness 🤝
During my stay in Xi'an, I deeply felt the enthusiasm and friendliness of the locals. Whether in scenic spots or in the streets and alleys, Xi'an people always greet tourists with a smile, making one feel the warmth of home.🏡
One City, Two Styles 🏙️
Xi'an, this city, has given me too many surprises. Here, I can feel the weight of history and experience the prosperity of modernity. Xi'an is a city worth visiting again and again. If you are also interested in history and culture, then Xi'an is definitely your best choice. Tang Dynasty Everbright City
