[2024 Beijing Stay] Travel Guide for Grand Hyatt Beijing (Updated Sep)
Great renovation of Grand Hyatt Beijing
#beijingtrip
Following a comprehensive two-year program of refurbishment, Grand Hyatt Beijing at Oriental Plaza has reemerged, revitalized, and ready for decades of continued success.
Located in the heart of the capital of China, its prestigious neighbors include Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City, the Great Hall of the People, the National Museum of China, the Beijing Concert Hall, and the National Centre for the Performing Arts. Sooooo convenient!!!!

Red is in the air
The Spring Festival is a great time to experience the traditional Chinese atmosphere. If you are in Beijing, have already visited the main attractions, walked around the hutongs, then you can still go to 5-star hotels. There are beautiful red decorations in the lobby, you can admire the art and take some photos. If you are on Wangfujin Road, then you have about 6 hotels. No need to take a taxi, you can walk this distance from hotel to hotel on foot. And if it's cold, you can have a cup of coffee in the lobby of one of the hotels. My list:
1. The Regent Beijing
2. Legendale hotel
3. The Peninsula
4. Waldorf Astoria Beijing
5. Hilton
6. Grand Hyatt at Oriental Plaza
You can easily find all hotels on the map by name.

Beijing Grand Hyatt Hotel is worth crying for
⛳️ Located on Chang'an Street, the Grand Hyatt Hotel has a fountain on multiple layers of steps that you can see just by passing by. The lighting effect is obvious at night, and the night view is very good.
The room is a single-bed suite with a large living room space. The fully open glass windows provide excellent lighting, and you can overlook Chang'an Street without going out. The hardware facilities and decoration style are not very modern, but they are not outdated either. They are relatively simple but have everything you need. Room service is online, and any problems can be solved in a timely manner. The service in the executive lounge is very good, much better than the service in the restaurant on the second floor, which is a big plus.
The breakfast and executive lounge basically meet the needs. There are no outstanding single items, but you can still eat your fill.
The swimming pool is in the Oasis Club downstairs. Rather than calling it a hotel pool, it feels more like being in Southeast Asia, with banana trees and lounge chairs, and there is also a hot pool for soaking.
On one side of the hotel lobby, there is also their dessert shop "Suyuan". I saw many people coming to buy their small cakes, and I bought a few to try. The taste is indeed good, and the ingredients are exquisite.
Thanks to Xiao D for arranging the hotel. The view is amazing, and they also helped me upgrade my room for free! The customer service is very patient!

Stayed at the Grand Hyatt Beijing for the third time
This is my third business trip staying here
The main reason is still convenience, the subway is right downstairs🚇
Close to Wangfujing, it's very convenient for shopping and travel
-
Room: Since the hotel has been renovated, the guest rooms have a new view and layout. Last time I stayed on the executive floor, with the courtyard roofs of Xiehe Hospital below. This time I stayed in a deluxe room, with the famous fountain below, which I, as a person from the Northeast, am absolutely fascinated by. We like the meaning of water bringing wealth, so it's perfect to see it every day, making my business trip feel smooth.
-
Executive Lounge: I love the executive lounge here the most, I basically spend my afternoons here, and it's dual-purpose, one side for dining, the other as a lounge. But actually, I prefer the lounge side, where I can see the sunset and dusk, and since both sides are accessible, that's really great! I want to mention the food at the Guest House, I stayed for two days, had breakfast downstairs, but for dinner, one night was a buffet downstairs, and the other night was happy hour at the Guest House. I must say, the Guest House offers so much!! Usually, hotels serve small snacks and noodles, but here they have dishes, meat, noodles, cakes, everything you could want, and you can eat to your heart's content, it's incredibly worth it!
-
Swimming Pool: A must-visit spot, it feels like you've come to Southeast Asia, with a strong exotic atmosphere, suitable for taking photos and relaxing. The greenery, beach chairs, and swings by the pool all contribute to a holiday vibe.
-
Buffet: Last time I was here, I had the restaurant's high-quality roast duck, this time I tried the buffet, the scenery is absolutely beautiful, and there's a wide variety of food. Since I love seafood, I mostly ate shrimp, and there were also random servings of pizza, scallops, and some little surprises. I want to give special praise to the cheesecake, it's so delicious it makes you want to scream!
-
Finally, I want to say, I've been here so many times and haven't gone to see the flag-raising ceremony, even though it's so close, I still can't get up for it. But I smartly went to see the flag-lowering ceremony, which was also very impressive. Now that the sunset is later, the flag is lowered at 7:40, which leaves plenty of time.

Budget travelers will cry tears of joy, staying at this place in Beijing is a must!
|The grand renovation is finally nearing its end, and the new rooms, though reminiscent of the Tokyo Andaz style, are simple but classic. The treatment for frequent travelers is stable but as stingy as ever, with no breakfast included downstairs.
🏠Room Type: Stayed in the newly renovated double room. The hotel said it was not possible to upgrade to a suite in the new building, but it was possible in the old one. However, they helped coordinate a Chang'an Street view, which is considered the highest level below a suite.
🪟View: Quite lucky that the weather has been great these days. Looking across at the WA, observing the same quadrangle structure, one can see the Forbidden City in the distance, slightly less impressive than MO, but not by much.
🚇Transportation: Next to Dongdan station, the king of travel convenience, you can take the subway anywhere.
🏋️: The gym and swimming pool are great, forgot to take photos. The pool replicates an indoor tropical rainforest, reminiscent of the Beijing Rosewood.
✅The lounge service is excellent, with a view consistent with the room, but there isn't a wide variety of food. The soy sauce rice during happy hour is good, but the noodles are strangely unappetizing.

This budget hotel in Beijing offers such great value for money in the capital!
1. First of all... it's not fully renovated yet, the renovated part has new wooden decor which feels very Park Hyatt, although they upgraded me to a suite it was the part that hasn't been renovated yet, it's not exactly 'broken', but it is indeed very old.
2. The lounge is not bad, you can see Chang'an Street, and there is a noodle stall for dinner but overall it's just average. There's no surprise, and the taste isn't great.
3. As for the location, well, it's quite convenient if you want to visit Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City... If your main activities are in Chaoyang, especially along Line 1, then it's also okay, about three stations away from the World Trade Center, but going to Haidian does make one question their life choices.
4. The service staff are very attentive, the cleaning ladies are especially nice, meticulous and enthusiastic. The service attitude in the lounge and at the front desk is also excellent.
5. The breakfast is passable, the mutton soup was very satisfying to me. The guy was so enthusiastic it was amazing, he even helped me carry my noodles...

The legendary hotel is reborn! Grand Hyatt Beijing
The legendary hotel is reborn!
In fact, what Beijing does not lack are hotels with good locations but outdated facilities. However, hotels like the Grand Hyatt, which are centrally located and only one stop away from Tiananmen Square, and even offer views of the Forbidden City's White Pagoda and Jingshan Park from the rooms, are indeed very scarce.
What's even rarer is that such an old-money hotel, which never worries about a lack of guests or funds, is actually willing to invest heavily in renovations! And the renewal and upgrade have been very successful, which is indeed commendable.
This time, I stayed in the newly renovated Grand Club Deluxe Suite, located on the same floor as the lounge, with the room number ending in 46. Although it is officially only 60 square meters, it actually feels much larger, with a square layout, a standard design of one bedroom, one living room, two bathrooms, and a cloakroom. Aside from the low ceiling height that cannot be changed, the rest of the renovation is very thorough, presenting a comfortable grey tone overall. The guest bathroom to the right of the entrance is also quite spacious.
The living room is divided into an office/dining area and a reception area, with a round table and two chairs that can also serve as a dining table, laid with solid wood flooring. The reception area's sofa set is matched with a carpet, and a red round table adds a touch of color, balancing the room's tones.
The minibar has a capsule coffee machine with 6 capsules, the tea bags from Twinings are a bit scarce with only 3 bags, the mini fridge is fully stocked but chargeable, free water is provided by 5100.
Because the floor is relatively high, there is less obstruction to the view, and you can see the Forbidden City's White Pagoda and Jingshan Park, but only a little bit of the Xiehe building complex, which is still quite nice.
The welcome gift was very generous, with a fruit plate, desserts, Perrier-Jouët champagne, and a pair of this year's new panda plush toys, both wearing the Hyatt's red scarf, very cute, and I was very satisfied. However, the most comfortable part was the 65-inch large color TV in the living room, which supports screen casting. It was too comfortable to curl up on the sofa and watch a movie, while the bedroom TV was a bit smaller.
It's a pity that there was no bench at the end of the bed in the bedroom. A double sofa set was placed by the window, which somewhat follows the style of old hotels from the last century. A Bose speaker was placed by the bed, and the smart control system was quite useful. The bedding and mattress felt good.
The independent cloakroom is quite spacious, and the bathrobe is very thick. The master bathroom is spacious, with double sinks, a large mirror, an extra-large washstand, and Toto fixtures for the sink, bathtub, shower, and toilet. The master bathroom has been upgraded to a smart toilet, which is useful, but Toto's strengths are only the toilet and bathtub. The shower system felt average, but there was a footrest, and the Balmain amenities were in large bottles mounted on the wall, although the soap and lotion were still in small packages. The bathtub and shower area were combined, but the bathtub was still big and deep enough, with bath salts provided, offering a comfortable experience. The hairdryer was also up-to-date with Dyson.
Overall, I am satisfied with the suite's size and view, the color tone is soft, the living is comfortable, and it feels like home.
Currently, this hotel, due to some new renovations, has divided the suites into several levels: (Grand Suite, 55 square meters irregular corner room not renovated, fountain view, Grand Club Suite, same room type as the author's but not renovated, Grand Deluxe Suite, newly renovated 55 square meters irregular suite, Grand Club Deluxe Suite, the one the author stayed in, and above that are the two-bedroom suites.)

The coolest swimming pool in the capital, Grand Hyatt Beijing
Two years ago, when I heard that the Grand Hyatt Beijing was planning to renovate, I kept an eye on its progress. Then I waited for the restaurant to reopen and the swimming pool to be completed. After confirming by phone that the experience would not be diminished, I quickly booked a room and added a suite voucher. Everything was arranged and I set off for Beijing.
Beijing is so big that no hotel dares to claim the C position. But at least the Grand Hyatt can be included in the C position circle. After all, it has a super platinum location adjacent to Chang'an Street and spanning the two major business districts of Wangfujing and Dongdan. Plus, the large fountain that appears in many movie scenes is a label. Whether in the past or present, it is destined to be extraordinary.
The hotel renovation was very successful. The rooms evolved from the original luxury old money style to a sensual Morandi style. The walls are largely left blank, with dark solid wood floors, elegant autumn frost colored window screens, warm orange lights, small paintings, seemingly casual but full of ingenuity, plus some small items to enhance the quality, such as Dyson hair dryers, Bose Bluetooth speakers, capsule coffee machines, etc., the level of this room instantly reaches the edge of luxury hotels.
I stayed in this suite, which has a great outdoor view. The living room is transparent like a bay window, but it's a pity that the layout is not very regular. The center of the room is designed as a luggage rack and storage room, which makes the movement line between the living room and the bedroom fragmented. If I come back next time, I would rather stay in a more straightforward and simple open-plan double room with basically the same area.
The executive lounge is popular from morning to night. The food is up to standard, but it's not very outstanding. It's just the regular Grand Hyatt standard. The most anticipated breakfast, the pure bloodline of the Hyatt Group's excellent catering, my personal favorite breakfast package, cold cuts and freshly squeezed juice, are all perfect.
