[2025 Singapore Stay] Travel Guide for Grand Copthorne Waterfront (Updated Jan)

More than ten years ago, the first time I came to Singapore, I stayed at this Grand Copthorne Waterfront~ I heard it was renovated last year, so I came to stay again~ I didn't expect the view from the executive suite to be so amazing, and the price is quite reasonable! Singapore has indeed established many excellent hotel brands, luxury brands like Raffles, Fullerton, Capella... mid-to-high-end series like Pan Pacific, Parkroyal, and the Millennium Copthorne series are all quite good. The hotel's renovation this time introduced the most advanced environmental technologies and facilities, completing further modifications in sustainable development~ including energy efficiency improvements, water resource management, waste reduction, etc. All guest rooms now use indoor water filtration systems instead of traditional plastic bottles. This small detail not only ensures that guests can drink pure water but also greatly reduces the single-use plastic waste generated by traditional bottled water; the introduction of smart room thermostats allows guests to easily adjust the room temperature according to their preferences, saving energy at the same time~ In addition, the details are also taken a step further. The hotel's location and surrounding environment are also very good! From the hotel, it's a short walk to the famous Clarke Quay or Robertson Quay, and there's also the Great World City shopping center~ Clarke Quay is one of the top five must-visit tourist destinations in Singapore. If you want to experience the 'heartbeat of urban nightlife,' Clarke Quay will definitely make you linger. The hotel's food is really good~ the Indian restaurant Sansara - Authentic North Indian Restaurant and the riverside barbecue restaurant Riverside Terrace at Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel are both great, and the bar's cocktails are even better~ I recommend not missing it!

#mysgmemories Grand Copthorne Waterfront is located next to the Singapore River and conveniently opposite Havelock train station. Which makes it easy for tourists! I was near the place and decide to check out their lobby which was filled with tourists and and attendees of events held in the hotel. It’s so interesting to see a hotel’s meeting and function room so busy. It felt like a mall. Since mid autumn festival is getting nearer, I could check out their moon cakes which came in nice boxes. They are also selling cakes. But to be honest, I think it’s so unnecessary for mooncakes to be so costly due to packaging. The hotel’s bar and grill restaurant is also at the lobby.

#mysgmemories At the outdoor area of Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel lies a promenade next to the Singapore River, which makes it really romantic. We spotted this really huge fountain that transports you into a European garden. We are surprised the fountain was turned on but I am not complaining! It was so cooling to be near it, aways from the city and cars. Remember to walk along this side of the river if you would like to admire this water feature! There are also several public chairs for you to rest at, so do not worry about having to purchase anything!

We reserved our monthly buffet session at Food Capital in Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel. The dining experience was nice and the spread was great. They have Japanese cuisine, pastas, bbq and grill stations, noodle stations (Singapore Laksa and Prawn Noodle), Chicken/Duck Rice, Soups, Indian Cuisine, Seafood on ice and also a variety of selection of Teas from Raffles Lighthouse series. My favourite is the Laksa! I had 3 servings 😣 The nearest MRT is Havelock MRT Station (TE16). Probably a 10 minute walk can get you there! Tips: Do remember to sign up for the Millennium Hotels Membership to get a discount, a free bottle of wine, and accumulate rebates on your dining! Time for a diet now! Breakfast is at the Food Capital restaurant on the first floor of the hotel. Breakfast timing is 6.30am to 10.30am. To be honest, I wasn’t expecting too much of the hotel breakfast but boy was I glad to be wrong. The variety and quality of the breakfast took me by surprise. While there were the usual suspects like western and Asian staple and live egg station, what surprised me were some of the food there were available that one does not normally see during Hotel breakfast. One good example was the Bak Kut Teh… I can’t even remember when was the last time I ate Hotel bkt… probably never so I was pleasantly surprise. It tasted very decent as well. I also like that the buffet area was in the middle of the restaurant so one does not have to walk too far to reach the food. The hotel indeed lives up to the name of Grand. The exterior is awe inspiring, both in the day and the night. The lobby is stunning too, especially the lighting. I also like the decor used in the hotel. The pool is located on the 6th floor and is open from 7am to 9pm. While the pool is a little small, it is functional and has nice fountains. There is also a jacuzzi by the side of the pool. Plenty of sunshine received and is a good place to get a nice tan. Unfortunately the pool side bar is not in operation. There is also no lifeguard. Positives: - Newly Renovated Room with lovely decor - 55 inch Smart Tv with screen mirroring options (Air Play, Chromecast, Miracast) - Lovey views of the Singapore River and Singapore Skyline - Wireless bedside charging, bedside usb ports - Filtered drinking water dispenser - Huge room (feels bigger than 32m2) - Comfortable King sized bed - Separate shower and bathtub - bath salt provided - two floor towels for tub and shower (attention to detail) - Strong water pressure - Colgate toothbrush and toothpaste provided - 6 lifts (don’t have to wait long for a lift) Negatives - Outside windows pretty dirty (which affected my appreciation of the great views) - Room next to service lifts (can hear the sounds of the lifts, though not very loud, can be a little off putting for some) - No pillow menu, Bluetooth speaker, electronic blinds, coffee machine, hand/body lotion - pillows smelt a little damp (slightly off putting) - bedside table a little too close to the bed (pillow can encroach the space. Company held our Annual Dinner and Dance at Hotel Grand Copthorne Waterfront. Location very good and pleasant. Even though MRT is around 2km away, it is still quite accessible in terms of location. We went for the dinner at the ballroom and the food served was delicious and servers were attentive and polite. Every dish that I had tasted delicious. We enjoyed our high tea by the Riverside Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel. It is perhaps one of the most value for money high tea in Singapore. Both their sweet and savory desserts were tasty. The bottom layer was tuna croissant, the middle layer was ham and melon sandwiches, and the top layer was Swiss rolls. There were also fried chicken wings, fried onion wings, scones and tarts. Ideal for catching up with friends. Though looks dated but enjoyed the space. This room comes with lounge access including evening canapes. The lounge staff will served you 3 plates, appetisers, main course and desserts. Free flow of drinks and alcohol drinks. We had our first round of happy hours here before heading back to meet up with friends for round 2. You can head to Zouk for round 3 which is just round the corner.

There are a wide variety of different cuisines available, like Chinese food, Indian food, Seafood and many more! My personal favorite will be their seafood choices, especially the oysters and snow crab leg. They are really fresh and in really good quality. The ambience of the hotel is also very well maintained. Price per Person - around $200-$400 depending on promo codes and when is your stay Rating - 4/5 Grand Copthorne Waterfront was a stay home notice hotel and recently reopened for staycation guests. As I heard news that they have closed off to the public for certain reasons based on reviews, I was initially worried that my stay will be postponed or cancelled. Thankfully my stay was able to proceed as planned. Checking in was fast and they gave me a room quickly. Mine was a Club Deluxe room which comes with buffet breakfast at Food Capital and executive club lounge access. While my room had the city view with the river being partially seen instead of the waterfront view, the room was neat and my room was on a high floor. However, housekeeping could have been improved; perhaps due to lack of manpower, my fridge had leftover wine from previous guests. Concierge was helpful with my housekeeping requests as there was no indication of what number to call for housekeeping or reception so ended up calling them instead 😅 Housekeeping staff were efficient when they came over to my room to clear the fridge so that I could use it and provided me with extra amenities as requested. Swimming pool and gym booking were fuss free for me. Everything was well provided for including towels, and all was self service. While facilities were not the biggest, there were few users and my sessions were peaceful for me. A decent stay for me but strongly encouraged to book the club rooms or suites with club lounge access for a more complete experience instead of the basic rooms. #staycation

#staycation The club lounge at Grand Copthorne Waterfront is for guests who stay in the club rooms or the executive suite. Benefits include evening cocktails and canapes during happy hour from 6-8pm and all day drinks and refreshments. All day refreshments were simple with the usual coffee, tea, juices and soft drinks and some biscuits. However, the lounge was peaceful, and being located on the 29th floor, the waterfront view was the highlight and you can even see Marina Bay and CBD from far. During happy hour, they did not have a fixed menu indicating the type of beverages and food available. Instead, they displayed bottles of different types of alcohol for you to point out to the staff. The staff will then prepare the drinks based on your order. Being unfamiliar with mixology, I requested the staff who happened to be the club manager to prepare different types of cocktails. Appreciate that she really made 3 different combinations for us. There was even Baileys; so far I have not seen it being served in other hotels. Evening canapes started off with cold dishes, followed by the mains and then desserts. It was evident that they took effort in plating. Food on the whole was great in my opinion; not overly salty or oily nor cloyingly sweet. Some explanation of the food through a menu or verbal would be better to know exactly what we were eating but we could guess what was inside anyway. Staff were fantastic and went the extra mile to make our club lounge experience a memorable one, from constantly checking on us to make sure our food and drinks were topped up, to clearing away empty plates and glasses. The manager gave us a late checkout upon request at 1pm from the standard 11am since it was a weekday. For an additional pax, topping up of 30++ dollars is required to enjoy the access. For the views, service and food, it was worth topping up in my opinion. Overall a great experience for me.

It only takes 4-5 minutes to walk to the nearest MRT station, which is super convenient! The interior of the hotel is also very modern, with a luxurious and bright lobby that gives you a sense of spaciousness and comfort. The reception staff are very friendly and patient in answering all kinds of questions, and they can even upgrade your room for free. #familytrips2024 Visited the grand corpthorne hotel located at havelock. It’s quite a nice hotel and convenient as the train station is within walking distance from the hotel. The lobby is clean and pretty and staff are all very friendly as well. There’s a few restaurants located at the hotel too, so do try out with your family members if you can. Otherwise can just go for a fun staycation with your family members here.

Cleanliness: - In terms cleanliness, the room is immaculate. No physical signs of dust settling anywhere in the room. - The floor are not carpeted. So it’s quite cold whoever you walk around the room if u leave the air-con switched on most of the time. Amenities: - Room was unfortunately not equipped with smart tv. International channels are very limited and the connection is slow. - Room is very spacious. Suitable to bring guests for card games. - The view from the room is unobstructed. So it’s quite nice. - The tv was installed in the positioned right in front of the bed. - The shower area is very clean. No moulds whatsoever within the shower area. However, the area within the toilet is very limited, making manoeuvring difficult. - Beds and linens are comfortable. Additional pillows can be requested. But I personally found the pillows too soft for my liking. Food Choices: - The food offered during breakfast at their hotel restaurant (Food Capital) has a wide variety of choices. Although the food isn’t halal certified, there’s abundance of choice for alternative food so it is not that disadvantage for Muslim travellers. The carpark within the hotel is quite limited. So you might end up, parking quite far from the lift lobby. Service: - Room service is quite swift. And they do a good job on it. - We arrived at 9.30am to check in. The check-in timing is strictly at 3pm. They said that they will call if can check in earlier. In the end, it was not even a minute earlier as there were no calls made to us. Waited all the way till 3pm. And their standard checkout timing is at 11am. We were not granted late check-out even at 12pm like usually most hotels do.
