#hospitality
My recent trip to Istanbul was nothing short of amazing, but what truly stood out was the famous Turkish hospitality. From the moment I landed, I was met with warm smiles and welcoming gestures. Staying in the Sultanahmet district, I felt like I was transported back in time with its historic mosques and palaces nearby. Every café I walked into, I was greeted with complimentary Turkish tea (çay) and sweets. The locals were eager to share stories and help me find the best spots to visit. No entrance fee required—just pure hospitality! ☕🇹🇷
One of the highlights was visiting a traditional Turkish restaurant where the owner, Mehmet, sat down with us after the meal to share more tea and ask about our journey. This personal touch made me feel like I was visiting family. The Grand Bazaar and Hagia Sophia are both within walking distance, so you can soak in history and culture all day long.
In Istanbul, the hospitality is as rich as the city’s history, and I left with new friends and unforgettable memories. Can’t wait to return!

Largest and Oldest covered markets in the world! 🌍
#traveldiaries
The Grand Bazaar in Istanbul is one of the largest and oldest covered markets in the world. 🌍Everything is spectacular in the Grand Bazaar, a mythical place in the Turkish metropolis where it’s easy to lose yourself and be amazed. It can be accessed through up to 22 different doors, leading to some 58 streets. It’s located in the Sultanahmet area, near the Çemberlitas and Beyazit neighbourhoods, just a short distance from the historic centre of the city and its most iconic monuments.
Hundreds of thousands of visitors come every day to explore the labyrinth of shops in this large space where you can buy anything: jewellery, carpets, items made of precious metals, fabrics, etc. It’s impossible not to be dazed by the mixture of sounds, smells, flavours, and colours that fill this magical enclave, which is famous for the haggling that takes place here.
✨Tips: haggle patiently, it's best if you have time and go from shop to shop to find the perfect piece at the best price.
💞Even if shopping is not your aim, visiting the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul can be a delightful experience as long as you’re not in a hurry and enjoy taking in the ambience of the surroundings and losing yourself. The hustle and bustle of the people, the gestures of the vendors, the reflections of the jewellery shops and the architecture of the place itself, with its domes painted blue, are reason enough to take the time to wander around.

On my summer vacation to Istanbul, visiting the Grand Bazaar was a highlight that I still can’t stop thinking about! Located in the heart of the city, this iconic market is one of the largest and oldest covered markets in the world. The moment you step inside, you're enveloped by a maze of over 4,000 shops, each one brimming with colorful goods—from beautiful carpets and textiles to intricate jewelry and handmade ceramics.
There’s no entrance fee, which is great because you’ll want to save your money for shopping! I found myself haggling over a gorgeous Turkish lamp and some spices that I couldn’t resist taking home. The experience of bargaining with the friendly vendors is all part of the charm.
Nearby, you can explore other historic sites like the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia, both just a short walk away. Plus, taking a break at a nearby café for some Turkish tea and baklava is a must after navigating the bustling alleys of the bazaar.
The Grand Bazaar is a sensory overload in the best way possible—full of vibrant colors, sounds, and smells that capture the essence of Istanbul. It's a must-visit for anyone wanting to dive into the city's rich culture and history.

If you are in the vicinity of the grand bazaar and looking for some rest stop after shopping, you should head to this place called the Ortaklar kebab restaurant located at Binbirdirek, Peykhane Cd. No:27/a, 34122 Fatih/İstanbul, Türkiye.
This is a 3 story restaurant located at the corner of the street at a qierd looking building shape, when you walk in you have to climb to the 2nd floor for a seating area. The reviews here on Google alone is great so you don't need to worry.
Go for the meat dishes, as the grilling of meats here are to perfecto! Great lamb, beef and chicken where its accommodated with a bed of Turkish special rice. Prices here are alsp relatively affordable, not those tourist kind of prices, so you don't need to worry!

Istanbul's traditional market, Grand Bazaar🍭🍬
The world's largest and oldest indoor market, the Grand Bazaar!
As expected from its reputation, the size and number of stores are incredible?! When you enter, people on both sides of you will be speaking to you in Korean a lot😂
There are so many kinds of desserts that are a must-shopping list, so try them and choose the ones that suit your taste💓
But don't buy at the first price, but negotiate hard!! You can negotiate more than you think‼️
It's a bit crazy because of the crazy solicitation, but I recommend the Grand Bazaar where you can feel Istanbul with your body👍🏻

A must visit place in Istanbul! Such a lovely place with so many unique and traditional Turkish stuff. The Grand Bazaar is quite massive and there are so many entrance available to get in, so find one which is the most convenient to you. Inside, you will see how old the building is since it was built more than 300 years ago, which makes it really pretty and historical. There are around 4000 shops inside, so you can imagine walking around this place might take hours, especially if you love shopping 😝 Many tourists visit this place before they go home to buy some antique souvenirs like bowls, lanterns, chess board, or even keychains and also the delicious turkish delight! One tip from me is, don’t forget to haggle as they always give tourist price 😄

Istanbul - a visual treat!
Istanbul is a city that feels like a storybook coming alive, with every corner steeped in history and every alley buzzing with life. My journey began in the heart of Sultanahmet, surrounded by iconic landmarks like the Hagia Sophia and Blue Mosque, where the call to prayer echoed through the crisp morning air, merging centuries-old tradition with the city’s vibrant pulse.
Wandering through the Grand Bazaar was like stepping into a colorful tapestry, with a kaleidoscope of spices, handwoven carpets, and ornate lanterns dazzling the senses. The energy is infectious — haggling is an art form here, and I found myself bartering for a piece of Istanbul to take home.
No visit is complete without a cruise along the Bosphorus, where I saw Istanbul's true charm unfold: the skyline framed by ancient minarets and the bustling ferries darting between two continents. It’s where Europe and Asia meet, both physically and culturally, and it’s impossible not to feel the magic of being in a place that has shaped empires.

Second stop in Türkiye, Istanbul Grand Bazaar.
📍Attraction address: The Grand Bazaar is located in the Fatih district of Istanbul, Turkey, between the two mosques Beyazıt and Nuruosmaniye. The specific address is Beyazıt Mah., Kalpakçılar Cd. No:22, 34126 Fatih/Istanbul.
I personally feel that the Grand Bazaar does not actually belong to a specific street, but to an area.
🚗Transportation to attractions:
【One】Tram: Take the blue T1 line and get off at Beyazıt-Kapalı Çarşı station, which is within walking distance.
【Two】Subway: You can take the subway to Vezneciler Station, which is within walking distance from the station.
[Three] You can only walk inside the Grand Bazaar. The streets are crisscrossed like a maze. It will definitely take some time to find the specific location. It is recommended to walk along the main streets, such as Hatter Street, etc., and consider branch lines according to time.
[Four] Self-driving parking: The Grand Bazaar is located in the old city. The surrounding roads are narrow and parking spaces are tight. There are some open-air parking lots and underground parking lots nearby, but it's hard to find one during the peak tourist season. Therefore, it is recommended not to drive there by yourself.
👍️Must visit attractions:
[One] has a unique architectural style, with gorgeous arched domes, exquisite Islamic pattern decorations, etc. You can take photos at the entrance, internal streets, and in front of some specialty shops to record this exotic scene.
[Two] Taste local delicacies: There are many stalls and shops selling Turkish specialties in the Grand Bazaar, such as Turkish delight, nuts, coffee, black tea, etc. You can take photos and record them while tasting the delicacies.
【Three】Buy specialty products: Choose some products with Turkish characteristics, such as handmade carpets, tapestries, jewelry, spices, etc.
[Four] Inner Market: This is the oldest area of the Grand Bazaar. Most antique shops are concentrated here, where you can admire and buy items of historical value.
[Five] Silk Market Street: You can see all kinds of exquisite silk products. Turkey’s silk culture and traditional craftsmanship are very good.
[Six] Jewelry store concentration area: Hatter Street is now dominated by jewelry stores. The jewelry here has various styles and exquisite craftsmanship.
🎟️Ticket related: Istanbul Grand Bazaar does not require tickets
💗Other tips: [One] Be careful not to get lost [Two] Be careful about personal belongings [Three] The Grand Bazaar was built by Sultan Muhammad II and was originally used as a trading place for textiles and jewelry. Its core building, the "cevâhir bedesten" (jewelry market), is located near the Sultan's palace and was built to stimulate Istanbul's economic prosperity. During the Ottoman Empire, jewelry and precious hand-woven textiles came from all over the country to be sold at the Grand Bazaar.
