Also recognized as one of Hokkaido's top three winter festivals and a Japan Nightscape Heritage site, the Sounkyo Onsen Ice Fall Festival features a 12,000 square meter venue illuminated with colorful lights. Visitors can enjoy the sight of massive ice sculptures and tunnels, as well as interactive experiences like the "Northern Ice Bar," where everything from chairs to tables is made of ice. 📍【Hakodate City】Goryokaku Star Dream Illumination 📅Early December to late February. This is the Goryokaku Tower located in Hakodate, Hokkaido, near the tram station, about a ten-minute walk away. I visited last Christmas. The view from above is very beautiful. I recommend visiting at dusk to capture both daytime and night views. There is a lighting event at a designated time every night, where you can photograph star patterns in the night view. In winter, you can also capture snowy scenes. I highly recommend watching the lighting ceremony. No reservation is needed for this attraction; you can buy tickets on the spot, and there is no time limit for sightseeing. The tower's facilities include a cafe and a souvenir shop. This spot is suitable for families and couples to visit.

Another place to visit when you are at the Goryokaku Fort you have to visit the Goryokaku Tower which is a 90 metre Tower overlooking the entire Fort. The entrance fee includes admission into the Tower, but the queue might be long to go up into the Tower but its worth the wait. The price admission may be expensive but it gets cheaper if you go with 30 people or more and the view above is breathtaking where you will be able to get a view of the pentagonal park and at the far end you be able to see the mount hakodate(provided weather is clear). The tower is an interactive museum, telling a story of the fort and providing a great view on the surroundings. Great if you're into history. Make the time to visit the tower is you are in Hakodate. This lovely little port is graced with a number of attractions. The tower provides a 360 degree eagle-eye view of the city, including the Goryokaku Park, a beautiful and unusually shaped piece of land originally built to be a fort. The day of our visit was apparently the busiest of the year but, despite the queues, it was a lovely day and the crowds added to the ambience. Definitely worth the visit. I'll reveal the schedule and the spots I visited when I went to Hakodate on a day trip from Sapporo! I took the express train to Hakodate at 6am and returned to Sapporo Station at 10pm, spending 8 hours there🚃 A 4-hour train journey one way. I enjoyed the majestic Hokkaido nature as it changed while being rocked by the train😊 When sightseeing in Hakodate, I used the "Hakodate Special Ticket 2024"! This ticket includes a one-day tram pass and 11 point tickets that can be used at tourist facilities. It costs 3,200 yen per book, but if you use it well, it's a ticket that will pay for itself✨ I used the one-day pass + Hakodate Mountain Ropeway + Goryokaku Tower, and saved 200 yen🉐 In addition, tickets that include the former British Consulate + former Hakodate Ward Public Hall are sold at both facilities, so if you plan to visit both, you can save a little by purchasing them and going around. #cherryblossom2024 Goryokaku which houses more than 1000 cherry blossom trees is one of the famous spots to see cherry blossoms in Hakodate. There are both white n pink variants and what makes it unique is the cherry blossom blooming in star-shape which makes it really cute and pretty! Get a ticket up the tower to take an ig worthy shot of this unique location! Highly recommend! ⭐️ueki soetsu gallery⭐️ is a gallery located on the second floor of the Goryokaku Tower. It's a place where various exhibitions are held, and there are surprisingly many good free exhibitions, so if you have time, it's recommended to stop by and see the exhibition. Goryokaku Tower A nice tower to view Hakodate at night especially the view of the below stars shaped Goryokaku Garden. Well lighted at night making the star seems to be shining on the garden. The tower itself is around 107m high. Many exhibits in the tower itself . But the most amazing is of course the garden. Note that From Hakodate Station, take the tram to "Goryokaku Koen-mae" (15 minutes, 230 yen one way), from where the fortress is another ten minutes on foot. I suggest to buy tram pass so can roam around Hakodate from day to night #bucketlistreboot

The Hakodate tour of the Goryokaku is generally seen down the tower. The tower is 98 meters high and is the best location to look at the Goryokaku. There are two observatories inside the tower, and the historical cloister uses comics and scene models to show the history of Goryokaku. On the ground floor, the earth's three-year-old bronze statue is quite handsome. The most beautiful time is when the cherry blossoms bloom, and it looks like a pink cloud. It is a pity that it is not this time to come here twice. Five Goryeo was built in 1864 and experienced the turmoil of the late Shogunate to the beginning of the Meiji era. This star fortress originated in Europe in the 16th century and can be seen in many parts of Europe.
