Malaysian food that even the king loves 🇫🇷|Mr Chee Kopitiam
Mr Chee Kopitiam, a popular food from Malaysia, is a restaurant specializing in Malaysian cuisine. The boss is Malaysian, so he brought his hometown’s famous Bak Kut Teh, curry laksa, nasi lemak, and other classic dishes to Taiwan, allowing us to taste the local Malaysian delicacies 🇲🇾 . Mr. Chi has three branches in Taipei and serves affordable Malaysian cuisine recommended by famous singer JJ Lin.
The Gongguan store is divided into three dining areas, and the space is not small. The restaurant's design is full of Malaysian style. The walls are designed with hand-drawn pictures that introduce Malaysian cuisine, history and culture. Some walls are decorated with floral tiles, giving a nostalgic feel.
There is a display stand on the left side when you enter the restaurant, which also sells some Malaysian sauces, coffee, black tea powder, etc.
The restaurant offers rice, noodles, nasi lemak, wonton noodles, fried noodles, etc. There are also drinks, bread, snacks, and fried chicken a la carte to choose from☘️
Here are some different classic dishes 🍴
-Penang Prawn Noodles🦐🍜
This is also a classic Malaysian delicacy. The soup is cooked with shrimps. It is full of flavor, a little spicy, and has rich flavors. The main course has three large shrimps, boiled eggs, bean curd skin, tofu buns, and a little water spinach. The overall taste is authentic.
-Mr. Chi's Nasi Lemak Fried Chicken with Sambal Soup 🌶🌶
Nasi lemak is a very famous local delicacy in Malaysia. The main course is fragrant fried chicken and sambal sauce, and the side dishes include boiled eggs, peanuts, dried fish, cucumber slices and shrimp cakes. The fried chicken is made with chicken thighs, which are tender and fresh, and topped with sambal sauce, which is very spicy.
- Claypot Chinese Sausage Chicken Rice🥘
The claypot chicken rice was really delicious and the portion was quite generous. It is topped with Cantonese sausage, boneless chicken legs, and a little bok choy. The special sauce is poured over the rice, which is really fragrant, and there are some pot cakes at the bottom of the pot. The chicken thighs are very fragrant, tender and have a hint of wine.
-Hainan Chicken Rice
What’s special is that the processing method is different from that in Singapore. It is a whole chicken leg and the taste is lighter. What is quite special is the way the rice is prepared. It is topped with special spices, giving it a very Southeast Asian cuisine flavor.
-Mr. Chi's fried chicken 🍗
This is a dish highly recommended by netizens. It is really delicious when fried. The chicken itself is very chewy and juicy. The store uses nearly 10 kinds of Malaysian spices and ingredients to marinate it, and then deep-fry it at 180°C until golden brown. The skin is crispy and the meat is soft and juicy. Friends who are not afraid of spicy food can pair it with special sauce👍
-Kaya toast🍞
Kaya toast is a famous snack in Singapore and Malaysia. Kaya toast is made from sugar, coconut milk, eggs and pandan. The freshly baked toast is crispy, but the kaya jam inside is sweet.
-Momo Chat🍧
It is a dessert with good ingredients, filled with diced taro, sweet potato, taro balls and coconut milk. But the taste is different from the general Thai style, without tropical fruit ingredients such as yam, jackfruit, etc. This should be considered a unique recipe in Malaysia!
