We had fun on our daytour at Jinfo Mountain last weekend! It was a snowy week and so we took the chance to see the snow this year. It was Monday but there were so many people but the whole place was huge and we were able to take so many pictures!

Getting There - Jinfo mountain is located in Nanchuan which is 2 hours away from Chongqing inner city. During the Summer it’s beautiful clear endless sky and in winter there is lots of snow! This scenic hike will definitely be worth the time with cableways to help you to the higher levels. Chongqing locals are tight-lipped! They won't tell you how fun Mount Jinfo is! Mount Jinfo is the go-to place for Chongqing locals. It's super convenient to drive there from the city center. We chose the west slope and navigated to the parking lot at the west gate of Mount Jinfo Scenic Area. We then bought tickets at the visitor center and entered the scenic area. We took the shuttle bus to the cable car station and took the cable car up the mountain. The steep and long cable car ride was so thrilling! On the first day, we saw many activities and cosplayers after we went up the mountain. We were so happy to take photos with them. Then we went straight to the north slope ski resort. There were many snow activities, such as snow tubing and snow bear dragging. The kids had a great time. Further inside was the ski resort. As a beginner, I was able to ski slowly under the guidance of the safety officer. Although I fell a few times, I was really happy. When we were tired, we went to the restaurant on the second floor to eat lamb soup. The lamb with skin was tender and the soup was delicious. It was so cozy to look at the snow outside the window. We stayed at the Holiday Inn Jinfoshan at night. The view of the snow-covered mountains outside the window was amazing. On the second day, we went to the Gufu Cave, which is worthy of the title of the No. 1 Buddha Cave in the world. The stalactites, stalagmites, and stone pillars in the cave were in various shapes. The stone Buddha and 1,250 Arhats were so impressive. Then we went to the Jinguichaoyang. The mountain looked like a turtle in the sunlight. Finally, we returned to the west slope to see the ice waterfall. The crystal-clear ice waterfall was perfect for photos. In my opinion, Mount Jinfo is really fun. The southern part of Nanchuan City belongs to the northern end of the Dalou Mountains. The main peak, Fengchuiling, is the highest peak of the Dalou Mountains, with an altitude of 2238.2 meters. Jinfo Mountain is composed of Golden Buddha, cypress branches and Qingba. The natural landscape mainly includes cliffs, canyons, strange peaks, caves, ecological stone forests, springs and waterfalls, and meteorological landscapes. Jingfo Mountain is a 5A National Scenic Area located in the north of the Damao Mountain Range and covers an area of 1,300 square kilometers, with the highest peak at an altitude of 2,238 meters. There are three wonders here: the World Natural Heritage in the form of karst, biodiversity and Buddhist culture. It is a tourist destination that combines sightseeing, recreation, adventure and scientific research. Jingfo Temple is an ancient temple built during the Tang Dynasty, with a 7-meter-high golden statue of Buddha Maitreya. Jingfo Ridge is the main peak of Jingfo Mountain, from the top of which there is a view of the entire picturesque area. Jinfo Cave is a huge karst cave with strange stalactites and stalagmites and an underground river. When entering the temple immediately feels that you are entering another alter world, such kind of feeling. It is dark there, pretty dark around but this shady atmosphere calms down, slows mind, make you feel body weights less. But truly remarkable thing is a long cave with thousand monks sculptures. Why I pointed that those sculptures are so remarkable? The reason is there is no duplication at all! Each one is absolutely different! Like there are no the same two human in our world, in this place you will not find any two similar sculptures or statures of monks. All of then are different. It includes body shape, faces, age, height, skin color, clothes, attributes and objects in their hands. We were absolutely impressed by such masterpiece of amazing work which I will call no doubt as a superior form of art. Highly recommended for visiting! Jinfo Temple is located inside of Jinfo Mountain or Golden Buddha Mountain Scenic Spot, the temple is secured totally undeground, do not miss it!

#hikingtime This is one of the most characteristic and representative scenic spots in the Jinfo Mountains. Compared to other stone forests, there are also stone peaks and stone curtains, and the landscape resembles a stone forest. But the difference is that the local stone forest is a symbiotic miracle, full of vitality, like a sage hidden in the primeval forest of the sky and the sun. This is a real Shilin forest (Shilin 石林, which means stone forest), with many fantastic compositions of bamboo, moss, trees reaching up to the sky and making their way through granite boulders with their roots. There were a lot of art titles and descriptions, such as “dragon's foot on a rock” or “white horse" . From this place, you can go out onto the road and take a minibus to any end of the park at the top of the plateau that is really interesting. However, it is better to continue walking through the stone forest and the azalea garden and returned to the path leading to the cliff. At one point, I would like to share all pictures I took during this amazing travelling in the Stone Forest. It was interesting to see how the lighting changed during the day. After the main entrance to Yan Kou Cave, then a little further, past the collapsed entrance to Ling Guan Cave. We actually saw the swallows after which it was named. Another path to the rocks, and then an observation deck. This stone forest is a real maze! Thank God, there are a lot of arrows pointing where to go and tourist maps at intersections. Visiting this stone forest was an unforgettable experience. If compared to the other stone forests I have visited, this one have a magic grid, the feeling like you entered fairy tale forest, because of ubiquitous moss. Highly recommended to visit for true hiking lovers!
