Extravagant dinner buffet
#Songkran2024Travel
Goji Kitchen & Bar - This large restaurant on the lobby floor of the Marriott Marquis Bangkok Queen's Park Hotel is famous for its international buffet line that is extremely eye-catching. This time, we would like to try the Saturday dinner buffet here. The buffet includes unlimited water/tea/coffee. The food lineup is as follows...
[Oysters on Ice]
The oyster corner is so spectacular that you have to separate it from the other Seafood on ice. There are Fine de Claire, Ireland Oysters, Zeeuwse Oysters, Pacific Oysters and oysters from Chonburi, our home country. There are plenty of Thai and Western side dishes and dipping sauces.
[Seafood on Ice]
Other seafood such as sweet clams, blue crabs, lobsters, steamed shrimps, Alaskan crabs, scallops and Dutch Mussels are arranged in a small corner next to the sushi line. The quality is acceptable.
[Sushi & Sashimi]
The sushi here has both Nigiri Sushi (Salmon/Ika/Tuna/Shrimp) and Roll Sushi. It looks good and delicious, but we focus on ordering only Sashimi for value. There are Scallop, Salmon and Hamachi. I tried it and the Hamachi is the best. The fish is fresh and has good meat. It's very delicious.
[Grilled River Prawn]
It's a corner where they grill it hot for you to eat right away. So the queue is a bit long. The river prawns are not very big. The freshness is average. The sauce is spicy enough. It's fun to eat but not wow.
[Foie Gras]
The Foie Gras is thick and grilled hot when you order. Served with warm toast with butter. The Foie Gras used is delicious. It doesn't smell bad at all. It's crispy on the outside and soft in the way I like. There are some tendons, but it's still good. Eat it with Baby Rocket with Balsamic and candied fruit. It's perfect. This is another corner that you should definitely try.
[Parrilla Grill]
One of the signature dishes here is the charcoal-grilled meat on the Latin American Parrilla Grill. There are both beef and lamb. There are 3 types of sauces to choose from: Lamb Jus, Pepper Sauce and Mushroom Sauce. We chose the Lamb Chop with Lamb Jus. When we tasted it, the lamb was a bit overcooked and tough, but it tasted good and didn't have a strong smell. The Lamb Jus was even more mild and went well together.
[Western Food]
There is a Pasta Station where you can order one dish at a time, a salad corner, side dishes such as mashed potatoes, roasted pumpkin, fried potatoes, potato soup and ready-made dishes ready to be served. We chose to try the Braised Lamb Shank. Let me tell you, it was awesome... The lamb was stewed until it was incredibly soft and tender. The flavor was well-rounded and rich. In comparison, it was clearly more delicious than the Lamb Chop from the Parrilla Grill. If you go and see this pot, you definitely can't miss it.
[Cheese]
It may not have a Cheese Room like some places, but there are many types of cheese to try. Both well-known cheeses such as Brie de Meaux and Blue Cheese Fourme d’Ambert, and local cheeses such as Appenzeller, Comte, Tomme de Savoie…etc. What I like is that each type has a sign recommending what to eat with it. There are side dishes such as various nuts and dried fruits. Taste until you forget about gaining weight.
[Thai Food]
A variety of dishes are served, crispy pork, fried chicken, papaya salad, spicy salad, southern Thai rice salad, Khanom Jeen, and hot Tom Yum with shrimp and fish. The Tom Yum flavor is moderately spicy, suitable for both Thais and foreigners. The Khanom Jeen with crab curry has a strong flavor. The Southern Thai rice salad is also delicious.
[Chinese Food]
There is a dim sum corner that is steamed hot and Chinese food that emphasizes seafood. Our favorites are the Chinese liquor-baked blue crab and the salt-baked shrimp. The flavors are mild but well-rounded, showing the sweet flavors of the shrimp and fresh crab. Just right for eating plain.
[Fruit]
There are pineapple, watermelon, pomelo, dragon fruit, mango, orange, longan, grape, all carefully selected and incredibly sweet.
[Dessert]
There are so many to choose from, from shaved ice, ginger tofu pudding, various flavors of ice cream, traditional Thai desserts, and a large cabinet of various cakes. I chose to try these.
• Mandarin Flan - Similar to Lemon Meringue but with Mandarin orange flavor.
• Berry Mousse - Soft mousse with a strong berry aroma. The taste is a bit sour and sweet. Fresh strawberries and blueberries are also added, making it even more refreshing. It goes well with macarons sprinkled on top. I like this one.
• Green Tea Nama Chocolate - The green tea flavor is really full. The green tea powder is mixed in, really good.
• Sakoo Crème - The texture is mango pudding with chewy sago pearls. Tried it and really liked it.
• Thai Tea Mousse - Soft mousse with a strong Thai tea aroma. It's also pretty good.
Other desserts I tried like Chocolate Cake, Red Velvet, Chocolate Profiterole were also pretty good. They're great to have with hot coffee.
