Goa Gajah, Ubud, Bali

Goa Gajah or the Elephant Cave is located in Gianyar. There are two temples, one has the elephant cave and the other is the buddha temple. Just outside the temple is a market but there's no touting. The vendors will just leave you alone but do not rent the sarongs from them as they are provided at the entrance.
As you enter the area, you will be greeted with steps going down towards the temple. The surrounding gardens are lovely & well maintained. You can feel the history as you enter the beautiful temple grounds, walked around and see the ruins of an ancient Buddha temple.

Goa Gajah
Beautiful temple, small fee to get in. Doesn’t take too long to walk around. A few temple areas to walk through and a jungle bit that’s gorgeous. There are some vendors inside selling waters, Knick knacks and things that can be a little pushy. Definitely worth a visit! There are taxis in the parking lot if you need to get one on the way out. Not a great road to walk on to visit (I walked there). There is a cafe & gelato place inside. I didn’t try them. Not too much else around to eat there, probably go to Ubud center for food.

When I visited Goa Gaga, I found myself in an interesting and secretive historical site. I walked into the sacred cave with a sense of tension and anticipation, anticipating what I would see inside. I explored the arcade as if I was on an adventure in a fantasy world.
The carved walls and ancient statues contained many stories and history, and I felt like I was wandering around in them as if I was traveling through time. I felt respectful and grateful for the ancient civilization that built this wonderful place, and I wondered how it had survived through the ages.

Ubud has too many gods, each with their own story
🔵 Goa Gajah, the only cave temple in Bali. The Goa Gajah complex includes three parts: the cave itself, the holy spring pool, and the remnants of Buddhist architecture. The holy spring pool is an Indian-style open-air bath that has dried up, with three statues of maidens holding water pots on each side, which were the original water outlets.
🔵 The light inside the Elephant Cave is very dim, and the air is not very good, a bit stuffy, so we went in for a look and came out quickly. It is best to bring a flashlight when entering the cave.
🔵 Outside the cave, there are three open-air bathing pools, as well as temples, stone carvings, and pavilions. The whole area is quite large, and you can stroll around for a while. I think it looks even better as you go further inside.
🔵 Warm tips: Regardless of gender, you cannot wear shorts or short skirts here, so free sarongs are provided at the entrance. Everyone must wrap them around their waist when entering.

Goa Gajah
Amazing and beautiful temple to visit in Bali.
It is a good thing that before entering the temple they ask you to wear sarong around your waist to cover legs but one thing which I did not like is some people are sitting to loot tourists out of this.
We were not aware that once we purchase the ticket to enter this temple they give sarong to wear and the people sitting outside in shops were luring us to buy sarong or even rent from them at high prices.

The Elepha
The Elephant Cave is the only cave temple in Bali and is the most famous sightseeing project in southern Bali. It was first built in the 11th century. Elephant Cave is a cave that has nothing to do with elephants. The elephant cave was discovered by archaeologists in 1923. They originally wanted to find the elephant's trace through this cave. The name of the cave came from this. It is generally believed that this place was once the place where Buddhist monks practiced in the past. The cave on the inner wall of the cave may be the place where the practitioner sleeps.

The Elepha
The Elephant Cave in Bali is a very magical place. There is no such thing as the name of the cave. The widely recognized view is because the god of wisdom is enshrined in the cave. Others say that it was named after the Sungai Petanu, which was once called the river. Some people think that it is because the devil in the entrance gate looks like a head. The
elephant cave ruins consist of three parts: the elephant cave itself, the holy spring pool and the Buddhist architectural heritage area. Shengquan Pool is an Indian-style open-air bath that has been dried up. There are three statues of girls holding water bottles on each side of the pool. It is the outlet of the year. In addition to the caves, the
elephant caves also use stone statues of mountain rock sculptures, and the caves are engraved with vivid statues. There are three open-air baths outside the cave, as well as temples, stone carvings and pavilions.
