Djauw Coffee, located at Petak Sembilan serve a premium quality coffee. It’s a nicely decorated shop that provide a peaceful environment for you to enjoy their coffee. The coffee comes with complementary peanuts for you to bite to enhance the flavour of the coffee. For this trip, I took their Djauw Signature Selection, Kopi Pantjoran at a price of IDR22,000 per glass. Among others are their Single Origin Coffee; namely Kalita Drip, Vietnamese and Tubruk. Beside coffees, they also serve simple snack such as pisang goreng, doughnuts, waffles and eggs. Bakmi or pork noodles is a famous non halal food among the Indonesian especially Chinese community. I ordered the noodles with 3 toppings which comes with noodles, vegetables, chicken, minced pork meat and some “pangsit”@ wanton. With IDR40,000 for a street food, I personally feel that it’s a bit pricey. But for the portion and delicious taste offered, it’s worth trying. Bakmi Amoy located next to the Pancoran Chinatown Point at Glodok. The stall open from 9am to 5pm Besides Bakmi, you can try variety of other food offered at this area, namely Nasi Hainam, Pioh Tauco, Siomai Babi and Rujak Juhi.

Well spent morning at Glodok China Town. Started my day with a wonderful coffee at Djauw Coffe at Petak Sembilan. I took Kopi Pantjoran which cost me IDR22,000, served with peanut. Peaceful ambient for a “me time” Next, walk around the Petak Sembilan Market with variety of local delicacies. Price are reasonable cheap. Local people usually get their fresh food here in the market, with variety of choices. Too bad, can bring back the Chinese decoration back, as it’s too bulky for me to do that. As a tourist, I only manage to try their Bakmi and Siomay. Bakmi served with minced meat, wantan and vegetables. The Chinatown of Jakarta began long before Indonesia existed as a nation and was originally the Chinatown of Batavia. This was the area where the Dutch required the Chinese to live. Today, the whole area is called Glodok and includes traditional houses, markets, architecture and some very beautiful Chinese temples. The Glodok Market is one of the great commercial centers of Jakarta where you can buy everything from antiques to laptops. Even though, the Chinatown itself has been going around for so long, the buildings keeps on adapting and changing to attract people to keep coming here. One of the new building can be seen in the picture. The new building still radiating Chinese vibe too and feels like it always been there. The building is so pretty that many local or overseas tourist can be seen capturing their moment there or simple enjoy the architecture of it.

As the sun sets over Glodok, Jakarta’s Chinatown comes alive with neon lights and the tempting aroma of street food. Strolling past historic shophouses, I settle into a humble warung for a comforting bowl of bakso—springy meatballs in a rich, savory broth. Petak Enam in West Jakarta is one of the best Chinese town in Glodok area. There are lots of traditional Chinese food as well as other street foods. You can explore the stores in Petak Enam and Petak Sembilan that sells a lot of unique stuff.
