How to complete the procedures at Gimhae Airport after visiting Haeundae Shinsegae Duty Free
Introducing the tax-free procedure at Gimpo Airport!
After shopping at Shinsegae in Haeundae and going through the Shinsegae tax-free procedure, we will explain how to go through the airport procedure.
① Shop at Shinsegae
When shopping, ask the staff to issue you a tax-free receipt. If you don't, you won't be tax-free, so be careful!
② Head to the tax-free counter (second photo)
After shopping at Shinsegae in Haeundae, head to the tax-free procedure counter on the 3rd floor of Shinsegae. It is located in front of Starbucks, so walk towards Starbucks. The tax-free machine is an orange machine. Before touching it, ask the staff to help you, so prepare the following three things:
・Purchase receipt (tax-free)
・Passport
・Credit card (the card you want to get a refund on or the card you use to pay the deposit) Details are explained in ③.
③ Tax-free procedure
The staff will explain the refund method.
There are several ways to do this:
- Receive cash on the spot, pay a deposit with a credit card, and process the deposit refund at the airport.
- Don't receive cash on the spot, but process the deposit at the airport so that it will be refunded to your credit card at a later date.
Either way, you need to go through the process at the airport. It's the difference between receiving cash on the spot or having it refunded to your credit card in Japanese yen! In order to receive the tax-free amount, you need to pay a deposit, so the system is set up so that the deposit is paid with a credit card.
After the process, you will be issued a receipt, so fill in the space below with your passport number, etc. You don't need to fill it in right away, but prepare it so that you can submit it smoothly at the airport.
④ Procedures at the airport (4th photo)
When you arrive at Gimpo Airport, you must go through the tax-free process before checking in your luggage. There is a reception at counter C or between gates 3 and 4, so go there. This is to show your duty-free items. Please note that duty-free items must be new. However, if the tax-free amount is less than 75,000 won, you don't need to show it. It's a hassle if they ask you to show it, so I think it's better to go to the counter before checking in your luggage.
By the way, at the counter where you go through customs, there is an announcement encouraging you to go through the machine as step 1, but since you have already gone through the process at Shinsegae, you cannot go through the machine and it is not necessary. Go directly to the customs-free counter, hand over your receipt and get a stamp. Keep the receipt in your carry-on baggage as you will submit it after immigration. By the way, it was open from 5:40 in the morning.
⑤After immigration
After immigration, there is a counter near gate 4 with the word TAXFREE written on it. Take your receipt there.
This completes the tax-free process.
