Garry Point Park, one of the top ten parks in the Greater Vancouver area
Garry Point Park is located in the southwest corner of Richmond, covering an area of 0.30 square kilometers, with approximately 2.6 kilometers of walking trails. It is an excellent place to watch the sunset. The park also features the scenic Kuno Garden, a Japanese memorial garden.
The park is not large, having opened in 1989. The area was a fishing village in the 18th century and developed into a hub for salmon canneries in the 20th century. The Gulf of Georgia Cannery, adjacent to the park, was built in 1894. It is one of the few remaining well-preserved salmon canneries in British Columbia, witnessing the history of the fishing industry on Canada's west coast from the 1870s to the present.
