GAOMEI WETLANDS in Taiwan is one of best location for sunset viewing. Recommended to be around 5.30pm to 7pm to catch the best moments of sunset view. as well check out the boardwalk path to see variety of wetlands birds, insects and animals. Gaomei Wetlands, also known as the Kaomei Wetlands, officially Gaomei Wetland Preservation Area, is a wetland in Qingshui District.
The scenery at the wetland is awesome. See mudcrab, seasonal birds with nice natural view. It is good to get away from busy city and get close to nature. Should go there when you visited Taichung! The wind is cold especially during Winter so do cover up. Worth a trip here.

Taichung Sunsets: Chasing the Golden Hour in Taiwan
Taichung is an attractive city that has a much more chill vibes than Taipei. It is a convenient location to get to many other attractions in Chiayi and Alishan
Getting There: You can take a high soeed rail from Taipei. Personally find that public transport is not as robust as Taipei and also Gaomei wetlands is abit far out. Recommend joining a day tour to maximise time.
Food: Best night market in Taichung is Feng Chia Night market with plenty of food options, Also remember to try the famous Sun cakes in Taichung.
Itinerary:
1.
Gaomei Wetlands
Highlights - This place is especially famous and popular to see the stunning sunset and recommend to be there 1 hour before sunset to get a spot and see the wetlands before high tide. You can see crabs and mudskippers. Far from city so will need a cab or half day tour.
2.
Rainbow village
Highlights - Beautifully painted village, hand painted by an old grandpa, formerly a residential area for military people. Colourful and vibrant village.
3.
National Theatre
Highlights - Beautiful architecture and relaxing space where you can chill. There are many small shops selling souvenir and craft items there. Features to see include the butterfly deco on the roof and giant ear in the park opposite.
4.
Miyahara
Highlights - Beautiful building and shop which sells delicious gelato and beautiful biscuits and chocolates. Recommend trying the tea flavour gelato in waffle cup!
5.
Chun Shui Tang
Highlights - Visited the original store and this is claimed to be the founding place of pearl milk tea. Had a enjoyable cup of bubble tea and some snacks in the shop, atmosphere was good and milk tea was fragrant. There are multiple outlets im Taichung.

Perfect sunset to watch with bae☺️
Gaomei Wetlands is over 300 hectares of grassy, mossy, muddy flat land on the west coast of Central Taiwan at the mouth of the Dajia River.
The scenery is incredibly breathtaking! Although please don’t forget to wear your wind jacket! During my visit, the wind was veeery strong. Be sure to book a transport home in advance as we had trouble getting a grab!

Instgram worthy windmills at Gaomei Wetlands
Gaomei Wetlands is famous for sunsets, with the windmills as the backdrop and muddy wetlands in the foreground. Beware of the extremely strong winds, strong enough to blow away any loose objects. If you are feeling adventurous, you may walk in the mud at the demarcated part of the wetland at the end of the boardwalk. There are street stalls selling snacks if you are craving for something to eat.
As this place is not the most accessible from the city centre, it is strongly advised to get there by car or have a private driver to bring you around. Buses at limited frequencies are available if you still prefer public transport but you need to cross the bridge, and note the timing of the buses and plan accordingly.

Strong wind with noisy turbulence is the first impression while get off from the bus. The view is incredible spectacular when there are thousands of wind turbines along the shorelines. Great walk around the wetlands. #mytripvlog #windfarm #spectacular

Astonishing Sunset at Taichung
This place a great one to get close to the nature. Natural wetland with walkways, with a beautiful scenic views. You can find lots of fiddler crabs and birds. It is more suitable in the summer since there is no sunset and way too windy in the winter.
It is worth a pilgrimage!

Taichung Gaomei Wetland🏜️
Only go once of the Gaomei Wetland 🫠 Go once is enough, not recommended to go a second time, the morning of the day after breakfast, we probably 12 o'clock around 12 o'clock from near the hotel by car in, about 1 and a half hour drive, we I went to the fish market first, because I wanted to eat a little, then walked into the Komei Wetland 🚶🏼♂️
Fish market to eat, we sat down and ordered a stewed pork rice + noodle soup, although small bowl, but the portion is extra enough, then along the way saw several grilled wine snails, bought one of them while walking 🤤See a lot of seafood food, actually very cheap, and can buy after the restaurant in the market to help you cook, but we have 2 people, so gave up😂 But their seafood is very fresh, and relatively Cheaper, hand-long lobster 🦞 is very attractive 🥹
After walking through the fish market, we slowly walked into Gao Mei Wetland. The scenery along the way was very beautiful. It took about 30 minutes to enter. In the middle we met a salted egg yolk and took a lot of photos🌇 It was quite a lot after entering People, we sat on the wooden board to admire, actually mainly to see its wetland, and look at the windmill 🤔
The key is muddy, because winter quickly falls into the night, around 6 o'clock the whole sky is dark, they are going to appear without a car 🙂 We walked 1 hour out back to find a taxi, eventually one There are indigenous people driving, they will count the head charge to carry us out, so experience tells me, is to enter earlier again, see and leave 🙄

breathtaking Gaomei wetlands
Located in Taichung, Taiwan. This is definitely the most famous place for sunset in the city! We reached 1 hour before sunset but it was already packed. So our driver had to let us alight from far and we walked for half hour to reach the place for sunset.
The place is vast! Do not be fooled by my pictures. There were really alot of people.
Nonetheless it was still easy to catch the sunset and it was one of the best i have seen. Do reach early if you wish to dip your feet into the waters. That is actually the closest you can get to seeing a big sun, set.
There are a few places to eat if you wish to hang around after the sun set. Truly a #mustvisit #passionpassport #mustdo #sunset #taiwan #taichung #windmill #sun

Gaomei Wetlands Taichung
Gaomei Wetlands in Taichung It’s worth going to. Its something magical in this place. It is the best place to see the sunset. I stayed in Harbor Hotel and they provide free shuttle bus services to this place. I go there on weekdays and the place was not so crowded. But for holidays such as the moon festival, it's so difficult to get there.

Taichung Gaomei Wetland. This place was one of the destinations I wanted to arrive when I first came to Taiwan. However, because of the inconvenience of transportation, I did not make this trip. So, I came to Taiwan for the fourth time. I went to Taichung for the second time and decided to rent a car. I came to Gaomei Wetland just to watch the sunset. The beautiful sunset can be seen from any place, but this is so far the most magnificent and beautiful sunset I have ever seen. The Gaomei Wetland is formed by years of accumulated silt, including ecological habitats such as tidal streams, swamps, beaches and mud. In the snoring of the shutter, the clouds in the sky are constantly moving, fand sky changes its color from golden to orange-red, then orange to red, and these changes the shade in the water. While the windmills in the distance give you a different view.

When the sky and the wetland are perfectly combined, there is a dreamland where the lake is like a mirror and the water and the sky are connected. This place, such as the natural environment, is located in Qingshui Town, Taiwan.
Due to the establishment of the Gaomei Seawall, accumulated silt has been formed for decades. The Gaomei Wetland has a good ecological environment. There are a lot of wetland animals here. Crabs, shellfish and birds can be seen everywhere on the beach. The sunset of
is the most famous landscape here. When the weather is fine, you can always see the magnificent sunset
the sun slowly approaching the sea level, gradually picking up its With the brilliance, the entire beach was slowly dyed orange. Under the dreamy orange color, young couples hold hands and leave the best memories on this most beautiful wetland.
This is the shooting place of the photographers. The light and the scenery are against each other. It is like a landscape painting. The people in the painting
the beach, the hardworking fishermen, under the mapping of the afterglow, step on the water surface. The afterglow of the light ended the hard work of the day.
Occasional group of Taekwondo teenagers, on the beach, enjoy the youth and enthusiasm.
The newlyweds are here to record the romantic memories of two people, the gentle wind blowing the gentle and pleasant you, like the pure love of each other.
When the sun sets, the sky is rendered red, projected on the wet ground, pulling out a long light and shadow, just like being at your fingertips, but out of reach

It was already 4 o'clock in the afternoon when I arrived at Gaomei Wetland. I originally planned to spend an hour here to go to the next destination. When I got off the bus, I couldnt walk. After the rain, the high-quality wetlands, the sun was just right, and the visibility was high. According to the experience of the past, the sunset here is beautiful.
The sun is a little bit irritating, and the crowds are coming to the depths of the wetlands. We have planned to watch a sunset here, so we are not in a hurry. We will chat in this small pavilion. I joked that we are working passively, but it is so long, why bother.
lighthouse. The red and white colors, along with the small houses around, are on the banks of the embankment. The
lighthouse is generally a fixed beacon that directs vessels from the south to the north. The range of the light is usually 15-25 nautical miles. I don't know what kind of light the lighthouse will emit at night. I don't know how many ships are coming from the south to the waters not far from the wetland. I only know that he is here. Lonely and long-lasting.

There is such a paradise in Taichung, where it is difficult to choose difficult patients, because as long as they have been highly recommended, but because of the inconvenience of transportation, the distance is far away, many people will choose to give up. Here is the Gaomei Wetland Park!
Gome wetland is located in Qingshui Town, Taichung County. It has been formed by the accumulation of silt for decades. It is a famous bird-watching place and a famous sunset spot in Taichung. It is a good place for New Year's Day.
This wetland has a diverse habitat such as tidal streams, grasses, sand, gravel, mudflats, etc., so it can breed a wide variety of benthic organisms in a very small environment. You can see it on the boardwalk.
Arrival method:
1. Take the giant bus passengers 178, 179, and get off at the Gaomei Wet Underground Car;
2. Take the giant business passenger 167 at the Taichung Wing Station opposite Tokai University. 168, 169 to Qingshui Station, then transfer to clear water to Gaomei passenger transport.
3. You can choose to take the train to Qingshui Railway Station and change passengers to Gaomei Wetland;
(Because the bus end time is relatively early, it is very likely that there is no car after watching the sunset, the most recommended The way is still by car or chartered, it is more convenient. Pay attention to the sea tide time)

From Markets to Wetlands: A Taste of Taichung in a Day
Day Trip in Taichung : We started our day early at Taichung Second Market, where we warmed up with a comforting bowl of wonton soup—simple yet delicious, perfect for fueling up. Afterward, we strolled to Taichung Park, a peaceful oasis in the city. The 湖心亭 pavilion, sitting in the middle of the lake, has a distinct Japanese influence, a reminder of Taiwan's colonial history. It was a serene spot to take in the surroundings.
For lunch, we headed to a cozy local spot called 乐意坊. The homestyle dishes made us feel like we were enjoying a meal at home, hearty and warm, filling us up for the afternoon ahead.
Later, we took a bus to Gaomei Wetlands, hoping to catch the famous sunset. Unfortunately, luck wasn’t on our side that day. The sky stayed cloudy, and the view was more about the endless rows of windmills than golden horizons. Still, the landscape had a minimalist beauty, with vast stretches of wetland dotted by the turning turbines.
As evening fell, we made our way to Fengjia Night Market for dinner. The bustling atmosphere, filled with the scent of street food, was a perfect end to the day. One highlight was definitely the takoyaki stand opposite the market—a must-try for anyone visiting!

The Endless Charm of Gaomei Wetlands at Dusk
Gaomei Wetlands, formerly known as Gaomei Seaside Resort, has transformed from a once-popular beach destination to a rich ecological wetland. With the operation of Taichung Port, the beach saw an accumulation of silt, leading to a decline in visitors. Eventually, the beach had to be closed. However, this accumulation of silt has contributed to the rich ecology that Gaomei Wetlands boasts today.

Gaomei Wetland-Taiwan version of Sky Mirror
I still remember when I watched Japan’s Love Bus World Tour a long time ago. When they went to the Uyuni Salt Lake in Bolivia, the sky mirror scene reflected in the vast scenery left a deep memory in my heart. I hope to be able to experience it in person one day. Such a shock! In recent years, I have been unable to go abroad due to the epidemic, so I have had more opportunities to explore domestic attractions. Gaomei Wetlands has the reputation of being a must-visit international attraction once in a lifetime, and is also known as Taiwan's version of the Mirror in the Sky!
I happened to be on my way back to Changhua after taking leave on a free day. I saw that the weather was not bad at the seaside in the distance, so I suddenly thought about whether I should go to Gaomei Wetland on the way? I immediately entered Gaomei Wetland into Google, and after searching, I found out that Gaomei Wetland is You can't just go down the boardwalk if you want to. You have to check the tide time first to know whether it is open! Fortunately, after a quick search, I found that the tide today was just enough to go down to the "sustainable utilization area" at the end of the boardwalk. Water, the time is perfect for sunset! The right time and place!
