This Turkish version of a bagel, with its crispy exterior and soft, sesame-scented interior, is simple yet irresistible. Early in the morning, I followed the locals and bought a freshly baked Simit. The crispy crust combined with the rich sesame aroma, and the soft, slightly chewy interior was incredibly satisfying! Locals love to pair it with a cup of Turkish tea (Çay) or enjoy it with cheese and olive paste. This combination makes for a classic Turkish breakfast. The best part is that Simit is cheap and widely available. Whether you're in the bustling Taksim Square or by the Bosphorus Strait, you can always find a Simit vendor. It is 490m long and 42m wide, with two levels, an upper and lower. You can also take cruise a ferry ride around the river to see the Western and Asian cultures in Turkey. There are a lot of tourists around the area hence ones will never miss it ! We arrived early on May 4 and stayed at Meroddi Galata Flat with breakfast included. Over 4 days, we explored iconic sites like Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, Spice & Grand Bazaars, and enjoyed a Bosphorus boat tour. We visited Abu Ayyub Al-Ansari’s tomb, shopped in Taksim, and dined at Seven Hills. We also explored the Asian side for a local vibe. 📍Trip Overview A 3-day trip to Kadikoy 🚩Route Kadikoy⇒Besiktas⇒Karakoy⇒Sultanahmet⇒Balat⇒Moda 🏖️Photogenic spots Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, Galata Tower, Balat's colorful stairs, etc. 🚇Transportation Basically, you can buy an Istanbul Card at a station, etc., and touch it to board trains, buses, and boats like you would with a Suica or ICOCA in Japan. If you're going around a lot, it's a good idea to buy it because you get discounts the more you ride (within a limit)!! 📷Recommended photo locations My favorite was the Colorful Stairs in Balat!! So cute!! 🍜Exquisite food I tried a variety of things, including pilaf and kebab, and they were all delicious! 🏠Recommended accommodation To keep costs down, I stayed at the "Kadikoy Linda Hotel". There are only stairs, but the hotel staff will help you, so it was a relief! 💡Notes The Istanbul Card transfer discount is only valid within 1 hour of your last ride! There are so many slopes it's a bit overwhelming lol If the distance isn't too far, it's often faster to walk than to take a taxi.
