🌟Highlights:
The ancient city of Fuzhou has a long history with many places of interest. There is the Yongfeng Temple built during the Tang Dynasty, the Yongfeng Pagoda from the Liao Dynasty (a key cultural relic protected by Dalian City), the Hengshan Academy, which was the highest (earliest) institution of learning in southern Liaoning during the Qing Dynasty's Daoguang era, as well as a mosque and a dragon-claw locust tree that is over 400 years old.
The Hengshan Academy is located on the West Street of Fuzhou City. Originally the residence of a general in the mid-Qing Dynasty, it was expanded into an academy in the 24th year of the Daoguang era (1844) through the initiative of the local gentry and scholars, led by the governor of Fuzhou. As the highest institution of learning in ancient Fuzhou, it is known as one of the birthplaces of Fuzhou culture, covering an area of more than 2,400 square meters.
