When visiting Puyuan Ancient Town, you must visit Fushan Temple. There are two ancient ginkgo trees planted in the Southern Song Dynasty in this temple. It is said that they were planted by Pu Feng, the Prince Consort of Pu, himself. They have a history of nearly 900 years and can be regarded as witnesses of the rise and fall of the ancient town. Unfortunately, when we went there, the ginkgo trees were still green. The mountain gate of Fushan Temple was built in the Song Dynasty. The architectural style inside the temple tends to be that of the Tang and Song dynasties, appearing solemn and majestic. Walking through the temples lined with huge wooden pillars, you feel like you are in the temple of time. The main hall of the temple is the Mahavira Hall. On the central axis and on both sides are the Hall of Heavenly Kings, the Bell and Drum Tower, the Thousand Buddha Pavilion, the Hall of the Guardians, the Hall of Five Cranes, the Pavilion of Great Compassion, the Xueyun Zhai and other buildings. The overall feeling is neat, cheerful and solemn, and reveals a quiet, clean and elegant purity. Visiting Fukuzenji Temple is both a trip and a spiritual cleansing. It was built by Puyuan native Pu Jian in the second year of the Yuan Dynasty (1309).
