Kamakura has not just one, but two huge two Bhuddist statues. This white is the "Goddess of Mercy of the White Robe". It is so huge and white that you can see it when you're going to the direction of Kamakura and Fujisawa. You can get off the West exit at Ofuna Station. When I actually visited, I was overwhelmed by its scale, which was bigger than I had imagined. You're sure to be soothed by the gentle expression of the Kannon🕊️ The quiet grounds are perfect for taking a short break between sightseeing in Kamakura. It might actually be a hidden gem? Access/Tips It's about a 5-minute walk from the west exit of JR Ofuna Station. Just walk up the hill from the station and you'll see the Kannon statue. Another large Kannon temple in Japan. It is on the same route as Kamakura. You can see Kannon from the station. It is very clear. You have to walk up here. It is a bit steep, but it is not difficult. When you walk up, you will see half of Kannon. It is very big. The atmosphere in the temple is also very shady. #thingstodo Cool area not a lot to see but a cool temple and some cool shops and stores around Ofuna. Worth a day trip, take the JR train to Ofuna then to Enoshima and make a nice day trip out if it, could even go to Kamakura on the way too. Not very big but exquisitely well kept. Not very old but it has some beautiful monuments and also a few monuments to remember the A-Bombs being dropped on Nagasaki and Hiroshima. It was very peaceful and comfortable. A shrine and other rooms are located inside the goddess.

#thingstodo A very simple temple for the goddess of mercy. There's not much besides the statue but the way her face appears as you ascend the stairs alone makes it a perfect experience. You can enter this small colossus and leave a prayer. It takes some effort to reach the temple as the path is fairly steep. You can enjoy walking around and enjoy the scenery. It’s a must to visit.

Ofuna Kannon, standing on the summit of Mugaso-yama just west of Ofuna Station, is a 25m tall, reinforced concrete statue of the upper body of the Bodhisattva Kannon, completed in 1960. A 1/20th scale statue of the Bodhisattva Kannon is enshrined inside the statue.
