The Fukuoka City Red Tile Culture Museum is a historical symbol of Fukuoka built by a famous architect in the Meiji period and the founder of Japanese architecture, Jingo Tatsuno. It was completed in Meiji 42 (1909). The red tiling and white granite exterior, as well as the spire and dome design, are of late nineteenth-century English architecture. Here, the decorations such as curtains, windows, lamps and stairs retain the appearance of the building at that time, which is simple and elegant, and is very changeable. It was used as the Fukuoka History Museum in Heisei 2 (1990), and later in Heisei 14 (2002), the first floor was used as the Fukuoka City Literature Museum. It mainly collected and displayed various literary materials. Literary lectures are held regularly.
