Historic buildings
The Hongmao City Historic Area generally refers to three buildings, including the main building of Hongmao City, the British Consulate and the South Gate. The main building of Hongmao City has been renovated several times by different users in Spain, the Netherlands, the Ming Dynasty, the Qing Dynasty and the United Kingdom. The preserved ancient building is a square pattern with deep foundation and thick walls. . There are four rooms on the ground floor of Hongmao City, two of which were used as prisons after the British were renovated. In the late Qing Dynasty, all the British who committed crimes in northern Taiwan were imprisoned here. The terrain of Hongmao City is steep, and many tourists will climb up the observation deck to overlook the Danshui River. Walking out of the road next to Hongmao City, you can see the ancient artillery area. On the right of the ancient artillery area is the British Consulate of the former Qing Dynasty. The facade of the corridor is a semi-circular arch, and the interior furniture is well preserved. The sofa, tea table, and gramophone make people feel like time is intertwined. The Tamkang Middle School and the Truth University near Hongmao City have a good environment and are also worth visiting attractions.

Hongmaoqing is a must-visit when visiting Danshui, Taiwan
Hongmao Cheng located on the top of Danshui Hill. If you are visiting Danshui for the first time, this is one of the places you should visit. If you buy a ticket for 40 dollars, you can tour the nearby Xiaobai Palace and Hop Port!
There are many photo zones, so it seems like people come here to take pictures.
I am one of those who went to take pictures.
It was pretty because it felt like overseas!

Danshui Hongmaoqing
Danshui Hongmao Cheng
This place is famous for being the filming location for the movie Secret that Cannot Be Told! It is none other than Danshui Hongmao Cheng!
Hongmao Cheng is said to be a wooden fortress first built by Spain in 1628. I went there in November, and I sweated a lot because of the warm Danshui weather. ㅎㅎ
There are many photo spots if you pay the entrance fee and go in~

Step into the oldest historical building in Northern Taiwan at Fort San Domingo in Tamsui, Taipei.
This historical site, with over 400 years of history, has witnessed the colonial transitions of Taiwan from the Dutch, Spanish, to British rule. The red walls of the fort look especially beautiful against the blue sky, making it one of the must-visit spots in Tamsui.✨
Fort San Domingo is mainly divided into two buildings: the red castle built by the Spanish, which was later painted red by the Dutch (hence the name Fort San Domingo); and the white mansion next to it, which served as the British Consulate. From the top of the castle, you can enjoy stunning views of the Tamsui River and Guanyin Mountain, making it a great spot for photography. 📸
The museum houses numerous historical artifacts and photographs, providing insights into Tamsui's early trade history. It's particularly interesting to see the office and living quarters of the consuls from that era, giving visitors a sense of stepping back in time.
This place is truly a fantastic photography spot, whether you're capturing architecture, portraits, or landscapes, you can achieve different styles. It's a perfect place to visit on weekends to soak in the historical atmosphere and take beautiful photos!

Tamsui Hongmaocheng
The shape of the building itself is beautiful, the wall work is very complicated, and some details such as door locks, stoves, etc. are quite interesting. The view of the river from the window is very good, and I really like the blue wooden windows. I am very curious about the appearance and view of the turret, but it is a pity that it is not open to the public. Well maintained.
It looks more interesting when paired with some architectural knowledge and historical background information.
The ticket price for Hongmao City is 80 yuan, and this is a Tamsui package ticket. You can visit three paid parks, including Hongmao City, Little White House (currently under renovation) and Huwei Terrace. There is free commentary at 11:00 in the morning on holidays, it’s super awesome👍
There are many options for transportation to Hongmao City. There are many parking lots around, but parking spaces near the end of Tamsui Old Street may be harder to find. In addition, you can also take the MRT and stroll all the way from Lao Cai.
Ticket information
NT$80 per person (Scope of visit: With the ticket stub on the day, you can enter the Red Mao City, the Little White House, and the Huwei Terrace.). Fort San Domingo Taipei 🏰
#taipeitrip
Fort San Domingo in Taipei is a captivating historical treasure that transported me to the colonial past of Taiwan. Nestled in Tamsui District, this iconic fort stands proudly against the backdrop of the Tamsui River, offering a fascinating glimpse into the island's complex history.
The location's strategic position provides panoramic views of the river and the surrounding area, enhancing the overall experience. The highlights of Fort San Domingo include its well-preserved architecture, characterized by a blend of Dutch and Spanish influences. Exploring the fort's chambers and ramparts, I felt like stepping back in time to an era of maritime exploration and trade.
Nearby attractions include the enchanting Tamsui Old Street, a bustling market offering local delicacies and unique crafts. The Tamsui Fisherman's Wharf, with its romantic sunsets and seafood delights, is also within reach for those seeking a scenic escape.
Fort San Domingo isn't just a historical site; it's a living testament to Taiwan's resilience and cultural fusion. Whether you're a history enthusiast or simply drawn to picturesque views, the fort promises a memorable journey through the layers of Taiwan's colonial heritage. #taiwan #taipei #fort

The filming location of the movie Secret That Cannot Be Told, Hongmaocheng, Taiwan ‼️
📍251 New Taipei City, Tamsui District, 中正路
No. 28巷1
Hongmao Town, located on the outskirts of Taipei City, Taiwan,
is also famous as the filming location for the movie Secret!
It was so exciting to come to the filming location,
but the garden was so well-maintained,
so it was a really nice place to take a walk 💕
The contrast between the red building and the green garden
makes it one of the best spots to take pictures,
so if you want to take a picture of your life in Taiwan, I highly recommend Hongmao Town‼️
You can also see the antique-style interior of Hongmao Town,
so I recommend a day trip to the outskirts of Taipei ~

Taiwan 'Secret That Can't Be Told' Filming Location
Danshui Hongmaocheong was originally called Fort San Domingo, a base built by the Spanish who invaded Danshui in 1629!!
Afterwards, in 1642, when the Dutch took control, the name Hongmao, meaning red-haired Dutch people, was given to it, and it has been called Hongmaocheong ever since.
Since Hongmaocheong and Jinli University appeared as the background for the movie 'Secret That Cannot Be Told', tourists have been flocking here!!
The building was so pretty that I couldn't help but take pictures ㅎㅎ

Freshwater
Freshwater Red City, a history of change in history
, was originally built in 1626 when the Spaniards invaded Taiwan on the hills along the Danshui River, and later the Dutch The Spaniards were driven north from the south and in 1644 the "Anthony Fort" was rebuilt near the city site of Santo Domingo. Because foreigners are reddish in color, the local aborigines call it "Red Mao Fan", and the place where they live is called "Red Mao City."
The main castle of Hongmao City is divided into two floors. The ground floor maintains the original appearance of the cell. The second floor is the consultation exhibition hall for the introduction of the history of the Red Hair City and the great navigation period
The Red Cross City Consulate, built in 1891, offers British consular residence, red brick arcade-style buildings, typical Victorian architecture. The
faade is a semi-circular arched corridor designed to block the sun. Secondly, it can withstand the wind
side arched corridor, which is more geometric and three-dimensional. Match the doors and windows to create an elegant space! Many young people are taking pictures here!
The interior of the consulate also retains the home situation at the time, as well as some historical information.
