Fort Cornwallis ✨
A place with historical significance. You can get a glimpse of bunkers and canons inside this fort. Located very close to the sea. If you are interested in knowing the history, you may then like it.
Entrance fee RM20 if you are not patronising the breakfast food truck within the fort. It’s a small fort but you get to climb up the fort for a bird’s eye view of the beach front and take some photos. I would say it’s worth the RM20.
Perhaps the Canons are the main attraction here. Part of the Fort site is closed off and undergoing some kind of construction. Possibly should improve more, better visit at around 5pm to 6pm when the temp is not warm enough to make the visit sweaty. Would recommend bringing an umbrella and ensure you have water. ❤️

Fort Cornwallis
We encountered culture, cuisine, and history from many different places in the small area of George Town. Fort Cornwallis is a remnant of the area’s colonial British past - built over 230 years ago by the British East India Company and is the largest remaining fort in Malaysia. We visited after dark when it was quieter and cooler, but there are tours during the day. There are old cannons around the fort and also Malaysia’s second oldest lighthouse.

Fort Cornwallis' Historical twilight Delight
In the evening's gentle glow, destiny led the way,
An encounter with Fort Cornwallis, a moment to replay.
Unforeseen, yet magical, the tale would unfold,
As I walked through history, a story to behold.
Majestic walls stood tall, an emblem of the past,
Each brick and stone whispered tales that would last.
With each step, I felt the weight of time's embrace,
Immersed in the heritage of this remarkable place.
In the twilight's hush, I delved into its lore,
Learning the secrets of battles fought long before.
The fort's storied past unfolded like a grand stage,
Echoes of heroes, victories, and a bygone age.
I traced the ramparts, gazing at the starlit sky,
Imagining the cannons' roar, the battles that once nigh.
With each gust of wind, the stories came alive,
A history lesson written in stars that still thrive.
From the bastions, I witnessed the sea's gentle sway,
Understanding why this fort held fortitude, come what may.
Its strategic post, guarding Penang's cherished shore,
A symbol of resilience, a legacy to adore.
In the evening's embrace, I relished the walk,
Absorbing the knowledge, time's mystical clock.
Fort Cornwallis, a guide through history's page,
An enchanting experience, an enlightening stage.
So, embrace the unexpected encounters that arise,
For they hold the power to widen our eyes.
In Fort Cornwallis, I found history's captivating allure,
A walk in the evening, an experience so pure.

Fort Cornwallis
Fort Cornwallis is a bastion fort in George Town, Penang, Malaysia, built by the British East India Company in the late 18th century. It is the largest standing fort in Malaysia. The fort never engaged in combat during its operational history. It was named after the then Lieutenant-General The 2nd Earl Cornwallis (1738–1805), the Governor-General of Bengal at the time of the fort's construction.

Historical remains will always be intriguing but unfortunately half of the place was under renovation during our visitation. So some of the remains are kept. entrance fee worth of 7RM☺️ indeed the place is very nice🤙🏻
funny trivia: Cornwallis was a general and one of the army in British during the revolutionary war. many says that Cornwallis threw a lot of gold coins in the field so that the people are in hurry cutting tall grass. That's how strategic he is..
in conclusion: The fort itself is a historic site and worth the visit. The problem is that it is currently going under a serious reconstruction so not a lot you can see. where the entrance fee was not ok right now. Hopefully, more to be seen when the works finish.#passionpassport

Breakfast at the Fort
Breakfast with a great view! They have nice food but the variety is little. The food is quite pricey.
After breakfast, you can take a walk around Fort Cornwallis and take pictures. Enjoy the historical site.

Breakfast in The Fort @FortCornwallis Penang
This is another exciting experience of my Penang trip, having breakfast under the trees. Breakfast in The Fort is outdoor dining, managed by Kota. The perfect place for outdoor breakfast.
The coffee cart, kitchen, and tables are all under the trees, located inside The Fort Cornwallis, a bastion fort in George Town built by the British East India Company in the late 18th century, lacated adjacent to The Esplanade.
The menu is a western breakfast set menu and pasta. The price is in mid-range. Since I had my breakfast in the Jetty, I just ordered scrambled eggs and a hot latte. The latte is very good. The atmosphere is very relaxed and the place to chill in the morning.
It is a dog-friendly place, the street car park is limited, can park at the opposite street with a fee.

Exploring Georgetown on foot is what we like to do and at different timing we can see different things. During the day, this place has many markets nearby and you can appreciate these old buildings closely. It is full of cultural and heritage atmosphere and the weather can be hot. At Fort Cornwallis was meant as a battleground and if you walk around, you can find old military buildings. During special events, there are many activities here.

As I wandered, lost in time's embrace,
Fort Cornwallis appeared, a grand historic place.
Unexpectedly, its walls stood strong and proud,
A testament to tales whispered aloud.
Within its ancient embrace, I ventured near,
An explorer in awe, a traveler sincere.
Each step unveiled stories of days long past,
Echoes of conquests, memories that would last.

#penangtrip We had a good time here. The 20RM entrance fee for tourists seemed steep until we realize we got a free beer. Some.other people couldn't use theirs and donated so we got a few more. The beer was tasty and there is a nice sitting area to relax while sipping. The history of this place is also quite interesting. It's definitely worth a visit.
Highly recommended.

🍻 Guinness Festival @ Fort Cornwallis
#mymymemories
If there's a beer event in Penang, you can be sure we'll definitely be there 🤣 This weekend, we were at the Guinness Flavour by Fire Festival at Fort Cornwallis, Penang.
The highlight of the event was of course the Guinness draft beers - smooth and creamy, just delicious! The price was a little steep at RM15 (it looked like half a pint, tbh), but purchase two sets and you'll be able to join their long table game for free (and win free drinks / merchandises!).
The festival featured plenty of food stalls with Guinness flavour dishes as well! We tried a few dishes, but the highlight of the night for us were the Beef Brisket and Pork Skewers.
There were also DJs and live bands at the event, making the whole place a lot livelier!
