⭐Visitor Guide:
Fengxian Museum is located within the Shanghai Fish Scenic Area at No. 333 Hupan Road, Jinhai Street, Fengxian District, Shanghai, with three floors above ground and one underground. It consists of three independent elliptical buildings, A, B, and C, with the History Exhibition Hall located on the second floor of Building C.
In the Fengxian Museum - History Exhibition Hall, let us follow the changes of the coastline, trace the natural history born from Fenghai, and embark on a journey through Fengxian's thousand-year culture.
✅The Fengxian Museum - History Hall has an exhibition area of about 1560 square meters, consisting of seven sections: the Preface Hall, Brief History of Fengxian, Fengdi Industry, Fengyi Market, Fengmin Service, Fengguo Struggle, and the Post Hall.
✅The entire exhibition connects the cultural thread of Fengxian through storytelling points, starting with the legend of Yan Yan 'Dao Qi Dongnan', presenting Fengxian as the first land formed six thousand years ago, lying north to the Huangpu River and south to Hangzhou Bay, on the west side of the ancient coastal hills.
✅Since the Neolithic age, the fire of civilization was kindled in Fengxian, with ancestors settling by the sea in the western region as early as four to five thousand years ago, marking the beginning of Fengxian's history.
✅Since then, the Liangzhu Culture, Maqiao Culture, and Wu Yue Culture have been passed down in this land, indicating that Fengxian is one of the birthplaces of Shanghai's civilization.
✅With the historical development of Fengxian, the region, embracing the river and the sea, enjoyed the benefits of a thousand years of waterways. The population gradually gathered, commerce developed, and Fengxian prospered. The thriving industries of salt, cotton, and fishing, the succession of wise people through the ages, the bustling market towns, the emphasis on virtue and culture, the deeds of the wise, and the resistance against Japanese pirates and wars, all formed a cultural tradition of respecting the wise and aspiring to emulate them.
