Tasty Sandwiches at Far East Square 🥪
Korio is a not-so-secret sandwich hideout located in Telok Ayer’s Far East Square, just a short walk from The Amoy Hotel and The Clan Hotel!
Run by a lovely young couple, their coveted sandwiches always draw in a long queue and with short opening hours from 9am to 1.30pm (1pm on Saturdays), you’d definitely want to make your way there early in the morning as stocks rarely make it past noon 🤭
It’s amazing how well toasted the breads are. With a crisp exterior and fluffy interior, these slices of bread make for a perfect vessel to hold whichever fillings you choose 🍞
I always go for the Breakfast Sammy ($14), which is a pair of fluffy brioche gloriously overflowing with gribiche, an umami cold egg mayo-like sauce that is bursting with flavour from the herbs. Paired with a slice of melted cheese and a thick cut of crispy spam, this is a morning indulgence not to be missed. Sinful but satisfying 🤤
Or go for the Biggie Croque ($18), Korio’s take on the classic ham and cheese. Layers of smoked turkey ham and a cheesy mix of bechamel, cheddar and swiss, sandwiched between whole-wheat crisp and tangy sourdough. The caramelised onions help to add some sweetness and balance to the savoury sandwich 🤩
Pro-tip: You can pre-order your sandwiches online! Slots for the week open at 3pm on Mondays, but do be quick because these get snapped up quickly too ⏰
