Tasty Sandwiches at Far East Square 🥪
Korio is a not-so-secret sandwich hideout located in Telok Ayer’s Far East Square, just a short walk from The Amoy Hotel and The Clan Hotel!
Run by a lovely young couple, their coveted sandwiches always draw in a long queue and with short opening hours from 9am to 1.30pm (1pm on Saturdays), you’d definitely want to make your way there early in the morning as stocks rarely make it past noon 🤭
It’s amazing how well toasted the breads are. With a crisp exterior and fluffy interior, these slices of bread make for a perfect vessel to hold whichever fillings you choose 🍞
I always go for the Breakfast Sammy ($14), which is a pair of fluffy brioche gloriously overflowing with gribiche, an umami cold egg mayo-like sauce that is bursting with flavour from the herbs. Paired with a slice of melted cheese and a thick cut of crispy spam, this is a morning indulgence not to be missed. Sinful but satisfying 🤤
Or go for the Biggie Croque ($18), Korio’s take on the classic ham and cheese. Layers of smoked turkey ham and a cheesy mix of bechamel, cheddar and swiss, sandwiched between whole-wheat crisp and tangy sourdough. The caramelised onions help to add some sweetness and balance to the savoury sandwich 🤩
Pro-tip: You can pre-order your sandwiches online! Slots for the week open at 3pm on Mondays, but do be quick because these get snapped up quickly too ⏰

Great place for gathering
#cherryblossom2024
While taking my city walk, I passed by the far east square. The buildings have a striking red colour at their pillars .The place is air-conditioned , and has many eateries . I like the design of the building itself as it looks special .I went up to the higher level of the building to have a view of the place. You can have a plate of toast, salad, or even a bowl of wanton noodles there. There is a wide range of food for you to choose from. The place is definitely a very conducive place for meet up and gathering with your working colleagues and friends here.

Streets arts at far east square
#fallishere
If you are looking to take some wall arts associated with the culture and lifestyle of the people in the past, you can visit the far east square located in the hearts of the town. Here, you will find street arts that depict the lifestyle of the people in Singapore in the past. Push cart sellers, opera puppet shows, children listening to roadside performance music, chit chat with your friends , all these were the lifestyle of the people in the past. This brings back older memories for the senior people in Singapore. Be sure to take some Instagram worthy pictures.

Chinatown far east
Address - Far East Square, 19 China Street, Singapore 049561
Located in the heart of Chinatown, Far East Square is a small-scale shopping mall that houses a myriad of restaurants and retail stores! Opened in 1999, this place had cultural significance in the neighbourhood and even has an old Chinese temple within the mall on level 1.
You can easily access this place via Raffles Place MRT or Telok Ayer MRT. I recommend that you visit this place once in the morning and come back again in the evening as different types of shops open at different timings!
My overall rating of the experience: 4 out of 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
