I stayed at this hotel for five days during my five-day trip to Lijiang.
Fairfield by Marriott Lijiang Ancient City: A Cost-Effective Choice
In the northwestern Yunnan tourist area, Marriott International has long had a limited presence. However, the opening of the Fairfield by Marriott Lijiang Ancient City in April of this year has changed that. As the first Marriott hotel in Lijiang, it has attracted much attention.
✅Soundproofing/Hygiene: As a newly opened hotel, everything is fresh and clean. The rooms are odor-free, the hardware is practically brand new, and the hygiene is excellent, providing guests with a comfortable living environment.

🏘️Room Type/Layout: Although the rooms aren't particularly large, the layout is well-designed. The standard room features a separate bedroom and living room, along with two bathrooms, both with doors, which is very practical. The suite is a standard star-rated hotel suite in terms of size and layout, with two bathrooms, a dining room, and a large living room, offering a pleasant stay experience. The twin rooms are also spacious and don't feel cramped, and the bathrooms are not open-plan, making them more convenient to use.
🛌Amenities/Facilities: The hotel is equipped with a complete range of high-quality amenities and facilities. The mattresses are by Sealy, and the bedding and fabrics are from Canasin, ensuring a comfortable sleep. Both the bedroom and living room have TCL TVs. The showers, metal fixtures, basins, and toilets are all TOTO brand. The hairdryer is a Tonney. The toiletries are large bottles of Nirvae plant-based extracts. There is also a Supor steam iron, a Cotell electric kettle, and a Nespresso coffee machine, along with two Nespresso capsules, Nescafé instant coffee, Twinings tea bags, and custom Yulong Mountain Fairfield bottled water. The hotel also features a small garden on the third-floor outdoor platform, which, although its purpose isn't entirely clear, adds a touch of greenery to the hotel. On the second floor, there's a gym and a self-service laundry room, both converted from guest rooms. The gym is larger than those in similar Fairfield hotels, closer in size to a Courtyard by Marriott. The laundry room is free to use, which is very convenient for long-distance travelers.
💰️Cost per person: The hotel is not expensive and offers excellent value for money, at around 230 per person.
💗Other tips: The service is outstanding. Not only do they call in advance to understand guests' needs, but there's also a chance of a surprise upgrade to a suite upon check-in. From the front desk to the restaurant, the staff are courteous and use pens to take notes when communicating, making guests feel respected. The hotel is located on Shangri-La Avenue in the city center, close to the ancient city and surrounding dining and entertainment venues. It's also convenient for visiting Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. However, although the hotel's name includes "Ancient City," it's actually about two kilometers away. Walking to the ancient city requires climbing a slope to a small alley at the foot of Lion Hill and then crossing the hill to reach Sifang Street. Those with mobility issues are advised to take a taxi to the south gate. Breakfast is served in the restaurant on the first floor, which has a simple atmosphere and provides basic sustenance. The hotel is suitable for those revisiting Lijiang, those tired of staying in guesthouses, and Marriott Bonvoy members.
