Erkan Village in Xiyu, Penghu
Erkan Village, located a 30-minute drive from Magong City, is a place rich in Penghu's cultural charm. It preserves traditional Minnan courtyard houses and features hidden snacks and cafes in its alleys.
The Chen Family Ancient House in Erkan is owned by the Chen family and is a three-section flat house. Its walls are built using local coral stones and basalt, with the roof structure supported by these stones. The decorative parts use painted tiles, Koji pottery, and clay sculptures. This house showcases traditional Minnan architectural style, including tiled roofs, strip windows, and saddleback roofs, adding a strong sense of traditional craftsmanship to Erkan Village in Penghu.
As soon as you enter Erkan Village, you will see a group of traditional Minnan ancient houses, which are well-preserved and restored. Upon entering, you will see a large almond tea pot, which belongs to a famous almond tea shop located in an ancient house. A minute's walk away is another famous shop, Erma Tofu Pudding, also housed in an ancient building filled with antiques, exuding a nostalgic atmosphere. Near the parking lot, there is a Shepherd's Cafe, also an ancient house, with a very traditional and antique decor.
