Bratislava is beautiful 🏙️

My recent trip to Bratislava, Slovakia, was such a pleasant surprise! The city may be small, but it’s full of charm and history. I started my day at Bratislava Castle, which sits on a hill overlooking the Danube River—entrance is about €10, and the views alone are worth it. The castle also has some fascinating exhibits about Slovakia’s history.
Afterward, I wandered through the Old Town, where the narrow streets are filled with colorful buildings, quirky statues, and cozy cafes. Don’t miss St. Martin’s Cathedral and Michael’s Gate, both iconic landmarks. Nearby, you can take a quick boat ride to Devin Castle for even more breathtaking views. Bratislava is a perfect blend of medieval charm and modern vibes, and it’s super easy to explore by foot! 🏰🌊☕

🇸🇰 Historical entrance gate of Bratislava 🚪
Attraction: Michael's Gate
Address: Michalská ulica 22 806/24, 811 03 Staré Mesto, Slovakia
Direction: Few minutes walk from City center
An icon of Bratislava, located right in the middle of city center, connection the path to the old town. Built about the year 1300, its present shape is the result of baroque reconstructions in 1758.Michael's gate is a place you can't miss, the beautiful blue colour will immediately catch your attention. The historic charm of this iconic landmark was captivating.

🇸🇰 Best Viewpoint in Bratislava: The Castle Hill ⛰️
Castle hill is also where the Bratislava Castle is located. It is the main tourist attraction and the most significant symbol of Bratislava. From the courtyard, there is a view of Petržalka, which is the oldest of Slovakia’s housing estate neighbourhood. My experience here was amazing, I really enjoyed the place with the stunning view it offered. This is a lovely place for all ages, no matter you are teenagers or family with kids, this place is perfect for an evening walk and to enjoy the sunsets.

A day in Bratislava during winter 2022
Travelling from Vienna to Bratislava, the capital city of Slovakia, by train only takes an hour. Bought the one day Bratislava-Ticket via OEBB kiosk from Vienna train station. It would be cheaper to get there by bus, but we thought of its winter time and for the comfort of the journey with children travelling, we have chosen to get on the train instead. This day tickets also cover all the transportation in Bratislava.
Once you get off the Bratislava train station, you can take bus 93 to the city centre, however we have chosen to walk. It's another gloomy day here, I just picked on the touristy spots from google maps (see photo I have attached too) and started the walking journey to the city. We passed by the 1. Mirbach Palace and just in time to see the guard changing ceremony.
the walking continues
2. Church of the Annunciation
3. Primate's Palace
4. Old town hall
we have a quick brunch at the Five Points Bistro
5. Michael’s Gate
6. Kápitulska Street
7. Pálffy Palace
8. St. Martin’s Cathedral
9. Medieval City Walls
10. House at the Good Shepherd
11. Bratislava Castle - from here you can have a view of the UFO bridge
12. Šafárikovo Square
13. Blue Church
14. Čumil - this has taken us forever to look for it. hidden from the crowds
The train station was already crowded (it wasn't a big station) while everyone was waiting to get on their scheduled train.

Blue Skies and a Blue Church in Slovakia
#tripblazers #urbanexplorer #slovakia
The Blue Church, or The Church of St Elizabeth is about a 15 minute walk from the town centre and is a beautiful place to sit and think after a long day walking around the sights of Slovakia. Everything on this church is blue. My favourite part is the mosaic inlay on the facades.
It’s not open all the time, so if you want to take a look inside you’ll have to time it right!
Great Slovak food in a traditional setting
It's actually a restaurant with different branches located in Bratislava. The restaurant is a great place to try different tasty must try Slovak foods. They also have a selection of local beers and wines.
I also liked the fact that there were outdoor tables available, although it was quite toasty in summer but I still appreciated that. The indoors area was decorated in a traditional pub setting which added to the flavor.
The food was tasty and wasn't too expensive. Be warned however that you will be filled quite quickly!

Blue and Beautiful Church of St. Elizabeth
One of the must-visit attractions in Bratislava is the Church of St. Elizabeth. It is referred to as "The Little Blue Church" because of the colour of its façade, mosaics, majolicas and blue-glazed roof.
The vibrant blue exterior and intricate details of the architecture left me in awe. 🇸🇰 #bratislava #2023travelwish #mytripvlog #tripblazers #urbanexplorer #celebratewithtrip #passionpassport #awesomepic

📍 Slovakia, AC Hotel by Marriott Bratislava
AC Hotel by Marriott Bratislava is located in the city center, so you can easily walk anywhere.
As expected from a clean 4-star hotel, it provides sufficient amenities.
The twin room was spacious and clean, so it was good to stay with a friend.
The breakfast quality was good and the service was good, so it was a really good place to stay for a trip to Europe :)

Bratis(love)a!
The old town of Bratislava is a charming and historic area filled with narrow cobblestone streets, colorful buildings, and breathtaking views of the Danube River.
From the iconic St. Michael's Gate to the beautiful Bratislava Castle, there's so much to explore and discover in this beautiful city. 🇸🇰 #2023travelwish #mytripvlog #tripblazers #urbanexplorer #awesomepic #passionpassport #celebratewithtrip
Scenic river views
Walking along Stary Most, which is now mostly a pedestrian and bicycle bridge, you'll be able to enjoy beautiful views of the city as well as the Danube.
The middle part of the bridge also has a tram running through it, but otherwise it's a calm and very nice way to cross the river.
It's also a historical bridge that's been reconstructed, which makes it even more enjoyable. There are benches along the way so you can rest up if needed. You'll reach a nice green park at the end of both sides!
Spend some time walking across this historic bridge!
Nice varied shopping mall
For a smaller city like Bratislava, the Eurovea shopping center is a modern shopping mall with quite a lot of choice in stores.
It's quite large with several floors; the top floor being mostly a food court and the basement with a supermarket. Wifi is available in the mall and the mall has a nice and open feel to it with the bright roof windows.
The area immediately outside it is along the banks of the river and there are many restaurants lining it with a relaxed and comfortable vibe.
Head to the mall if you need to do some shopping while in Bratislava. A good experience overall

A CITY OF ELEGANCE & CHARM 🇸🇰
The Brastislava Castle overlooks 18th Century Old Town and The Danube River by the border Austria & Hungary. An inexpensive place to visit compared to the cities of western Europe, Bratislava offers enough attractions and activities for just a short visit. Most of the main attractions are within walking distance of one another, it's very easy to navigate between them during a day in Bratislava.
I spent my day in Bratislava immersing myself in the Slovakian culture, and of course trying out some of its cuisine. It's a city largely influenced by different cultures, and the area has a rich history dating back thousands of years. One of my favourite facts is that Bratislava is the only capital in the world that borders two different countries (Austria and Hungary), meaning it's perfectly located for day trips, either to or from it. I was wow-ed! 🤩

Beautiful City Break in Bratislava 🇸🇰📍
Bratislava is a very beautiful city where you can enjoy a good day of walking and breaks at its nice cafes. We started at the Obelisk, where you can see an impressive view of the city. Followed by a walk around the city centre and ending in its Castle. I recommend to take your warm clothes if you come around November time. It is not very cold but the humidity from the river can make you feel cold. If so, take a coffee in any of their cafes. Most of them provide warm blankets and very delicious hot chocolate that will help you to keep warm to carry your walk. I personally recommend to stay a day in this city. it is beautiful and if you are a good walker, you can be done in the day. Ah! the Blue Church is definitely a MUST!

The Blue Church - what an amazing church and so memorable 💙 Still in my mind!
Another great church would be the Blue Church as it is nicknamed. A Hungarian church that features a façade which was painted with blue colour. A line of blue tiles and wave-strip encircles the church. Something for sure that will attract your attention, you can’t miss it!
St. Martin’s Cathedral St. Martin’s Cathedral is another great example of architecture but also history. As we are reminded that 11 Hungarian kings and queens have started their monarchical journeys here.

Great value for money near the Old town
The ibis is a 5 min (albeit with stairs and cobblestone streets) walk away from Most SNP bus station and another 5 mins from the Old town. It's a great location to be near everything. It's a further 5 mins from the castle with a lovely view over the city.
The hotel itself is a bit dated but everything worked fine and it was pretty clean. The staff were super welcoming, friendly and eager to help; that made all the difference. Ask for a room not facing the highway as they windows were a bit thin and you could hear the cars in the morning. Nonetheless a great stay and very good value for money.

Bratislava Castle
Bratislava Castle, is the main castle of Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia. is also the landmark overlooking the capital, was built in 9th century. It stands on the hill above Danube river. The location provides excellent views of Bratislava, Austria and, in clear weather, parts of Hungary. The area in front of the castle is called Yard of Honor. It is bordered by two triumphal gates and guard houses of the imperial guard.
The castle open daily but opening hour varies during summer and winter time, admission fees is 100% discount if you hold a Bratislava card.
Don’t forget to enjoy magnificent panoramic views on Bratislava from the castle’s area. And at night, the castle is beautifully lit.

Devín Castle
Devin Castle, is a castle in Devín, which is a borough of Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia. It is one of the oldest castles in Slovakia. The site has been settled since the Neolithic Age and fortified since the Bronze and Iron Age and later by Celts and Romans. The cliff is an ideal place for a fort due to its position at the confluence of the Danube and Morava rivers.
I was visited the castle during winter, and there is less than 5 visitors within the castle, it feel a bit eerie with the cold wind and the empty old castle. however, it’s also a rare and great opportunity where I can take as much as photos with the castle for memory. do check out my photos!

Bratislava
Bratislava, Slovakia. It lies in the extreme southwestern part of the country, along the Danube where that river has cut a gorge in the Little Carpathian Mountains near the meeting point of the frontiers of Slovakia, Austria, and Hungary. Vienna is 35 miles (56 km) west. Today Slovakia has become increasingly infiltrated by modern industrial infrastructure, but it still offers breathtaking views of wine-growing valleys, picturesque castles, and historical cities.

Bratislava's dream of the blue church
Slovak Bratislava's squatting underground pipe workers I believe everyone knows, but the blue church about ten minutes walk from the old town is fresh Known.
Blue is the meaning of the sky and the white clouds. The color of such a church is really small, it is a feeling in a fairy tale. Shooting at different angles, because the sun shines, there are different blues, really super nice. It will be open in the morning and evening.
Punta Brat
Punta Bratislava's most beautiful coffee shop Konditorei Kormuth
Today I want to bring everyone to a beautiful and beautiful cafe
Slovakia, capital Bratislava The most beautiful cafe in the city [Konditorei Kormuth]
This is the most worthwhile coffee shop in the old town of Bratislava: KK (short for the super long name), into KK, I only I can think of the word "not stunned".
From the wall to the ceiling, from the furniture to the decoration, each corner is occupied by exquisite murals or exquisite carvings and porcelain. The semicircular arches are full of Rococo carvings and golden birds. Cage, stained-glass windows...each do not repeat, it doesn't feel like a cafe, it's more like a museum of vintage collections.
It is said that this is one of the favorite cafes of Queen Maria Theresia.
KK Caf has the lowest consumption, 10 Euro can order a cup of coffee + a selection of cakes. It should be noted that if you do not order, you can not take pictures.
Dining feeling: In addition to the super thick chocolate, super fragrant coffee, delicious cake, the most important thing is that the tableware here is so beautiful! The feeling of retro ornate, fascinating, and patted photos is also a great enjoyment.
Tips:
Address: Sedlrska 363/8
The name o
The name of this store is very difficult to read, and it is very long, Konditorei Kormuth, but I must shoot it out, because I highly recommend to friends in Bratislava, Slovakia, to try this cafe. This caf is beautifully like a small museum with frescoes, furniture and chandeliers. The price is still reasonable and not very expensive. Not far from the Michael Gate in the Old Town of Bratislava, it is very conspicuous, you will not miss it.
Bratislava Castle
#celebrateit
The main building in historical part of Bratislava is Bratislava Castle and its gardens. Here you can walk through the centuries of history and explore different areas as well as rooms inside and climb the tower for the beautiful views on the city. The castle is located on a hill in a very calm and peaceful place. Walking around is free, going inside the museum requires a ticket purchase.
Streets of Bratislava
#celebrateit
Walking along Old City of Bratislava can be very quick because of its rather small size and the area might seem similar to other streets of Europe but if you enter different shops and cafes you will feel the difference and peculiarities of Slovakia.
Slow walk will help to observe the old buildings, churches, souvenirs shops and bars with local alcohol.
