I visited once in the fall, but I planned to revisit in early spring 🌸. Advance reservation is required 🎫. From Odawara Station, take two stops to Nebukawa, a beautiful unmanned station by the sea. Although the station itself is charming, you will take a shuttle bus to the top of the mountain. From the parking lot, as you enter the premises and look up, you can enjoy a wider view of the sea from the 'Stone Age Cafe'. The view from the stone tables here is superb, and the entire area, including the buildings, stage, mandarin orchards, and bamboo groves, is a healing space filled with nature. The place in the top picture, called the Shikou Yohai Tunnel, offers a view of Sagami Bay and nature from above. From inside, the pale sea spreads out on the other side of the narrow space, and it's a mysterious but wonderful space 🤍 The garden is quite large and is divided into various areas, including tangerine fields, bamboo forests, and torii gates. Every place is beautiful in nature, and there are stones and exhibits that give you a sense of history here and there, so you can enjoy it in two ways 🙆♀️ You need to purchase an online ticket in advance before going to this museum. Enoura Observatory is about a 10-minute shuttle bus ride from Nebukawa Station. It was designed by contemporary artist Hiroshi Sugimoto and opened in 2017. It's a beautiful museum, a place where history, contemporary art, and architecture blend together. You'll be greeted by the Meigetsumon Gate at the entrance. This was built as the main gate of Meigetsuin Temple in Kamakura during the Muromachi period, and was rebuilt here. It was a lovely gate that blended in with nature. Just inside the entrance was a glass-walled waiting room. In the waiting room, there was a magnificent table made from a Yakusugi cedar tree that is over 1,000 years old 🪵 And there was a 100-meter gallery built 100 meters above sea level. The Enoura Meteorological Observatory integrates climate observation with sunrise, exhibitions, art architecture, and Japanese gardens. It is an idealistic and great experimental work by Hiroshi Sugimoto. It is quiet and elegant, comfortable and designed. Unlike popular attractions, there are very few visitors here, and by noon the only people in sight are staff. If you have some time, you can appreciate Hiroshi Sugimoto's works here, or sit and drink tea and relax yourself. 🥰 The Jiangpu Weather Observatory adopts a full reservation system, and you need to purchase tickets in advance on the official website. At the same time, you need to make a reservation for the shuttle bus from Nebukawa Station to the Meteorological Observatory (your name will be checked when you get on the bus). When buying the ticket, just follow the instructions step by step. No reservation is required for the return trip. Pay attention to the round-trip time of the shuttle bus. ❗️ Take the subway from Tokyo to any station on the Ueno Tokyo Line and transfer to JR. I transferred at Shinbashi Station.
