Albany's Empire State Plaza is centrally located next to the New York State Museum. The majestic square is the landmark of the city. It was proposed by Nelson Rockefeller, the second son of then-Governor Rockefeller, at a cost of $2 billion, which greatly improved the city's image. In the rectangular square, there are 44 floors of 180-meter-high Erastus Corning Tower, TheEgg Dome Theater, New York State Capitol, four 94-meter-high office buildings and Cultural Education Center in the south. Among them, the New York State Capitol is one of the few state capitols without a dome in the United States. In the middle of the square are three pools lined up in a row, reflecting the surrounding buildings. There are also Education Hall, City Library and more near Empire Plaza. In winter, ice skating is available on Empire Plaza, from November to March, free of charge for 5 per week, allowing you to experience a different kind of skating experience.
