Pingyao Martial Temple | County-level cultural relic, grand and spectacular glazed tile beasts.
In Pingyao Ancient City, there is a martial temple, which is not only an important place for worshiping Guan Yu, but also a symbol of the spirit of Jin merchants. Here, you can feel the charm of ancient architecture and rich historical and cultural connotations. In 1973, Pingyao Martial Temple was rated as "Pingyao County Cultural Relic".
During the Kaiyuan period of the Tang Dynasty, Emperor Xuanzong of Tang ordered the construction of the Martial Temple to commend and worship the famous generals of the past dynasties. Among them, Jiang Taigong Lv Shang was respected as the main sacrifice, Zhang Liang was the co-enjoyment, and there were ten famous generals from the past dynasties. During the Hongwu period of the Ming Dynasty, Guan Yu gradually became the main god of the Martial Temple.
The main buildings of Pingyao Martial Temple include the theater building, the bell and drum tower, the offering hall, the middle hall, and the back hall. The temple worships Guan Yu, and at the same time worships Zhang Fei, Zhao Yun, Huang Zhong, and Ma Chao, so the people also call it "Five Tiger Temple".
