Cherry Blossoms at Guangzhou's Eighteen Arhats Mountain
🌸 The annual cherry blossom season has arrived, and the cherry blossoms on Eighteen Arhats Mountain in Dagang Town, Nansha, Guangzhou, are in full bloom. A cherry blossom festival themed 'A Century's Promise, Blossoming with You' is currently being held. Take advantage of the beautiful spring weather and the perfect temperature to embark on a cherry blossom viewing hike.
✔️ Eighteen Arhats Mountain is a forest park characterized by Danxia landforms. It is named for the eighteen boulders on the mountain that are arranged in a row and resemble arhats. The mountain was historically known as Lion Mountain, and it is said that the 18 lieutenants under Chen Sheng and Wu Guang once fled here, were transformed into immortals by a sage, and these boulders are their incarnations.
✔️ Upon arriving at the park's entrance, you'll find it has been newly decorated and a pink archway has been erected to welcome visitors from all directions. The distance to the cherry blossom garden is quite far, requiring a hike over the mountain where the Arhat Tower is located to complete a mountaineering exercise. If you don't want to exert too much effort, you can also take the scenic area's sightseeing car, which will take you to the Arhat Tower, and then it's just a short walk to the garden.
✔️ I've seen the cherry blossoms on Eighteen Arhats Mountain several times, and this time I found that the cherry trees have not grown taller; they still look like small trees. It seems that these cherry trees have a long growth period, and it's hard for them to grow into big trees without a decade or so.
✔️ The weather in Guangdong this spring has not been very good, with wave after wave of cold fronts and continuous rainfall, resulting in lower temperatures. The blooming of the cherry blossoms is probably also affected, and they do not look as beautiful as last year. However, with good weather and being surrounded by nature, the mood is good. People stroll, take photos, and sit leisurely among the flowers, enjoying the beautiful springtime, with laughter and joy everywhere.
✔️ To enhance the festive atmosphere, the scenic area has also set up a snack street next to the cherry blossom garden, gathering delicacies from the north and south. In addition to viewing flowers, it's unexpected that in this forest park, one can also enjoy the freedom of milk tea and stinky tofu. Next to it is a quiet place with towering ancient trees, where you can sit and rest, enjoying a peaceful holiday. It's truly a leisurely half-day stolen from life.
✔️ The area of Eighteen Arhats Mountain is very large. After viewing the cherry blossoms, you can also climb the Arhat Tower to get a panoramic view of Nansha's beauty. The Arhat Ridge deep in the scenic area is also a place not to be missed, where the legendary Eighteen Arhats Stones are located. After descending the mountain, don't hurry to leave; you can drive around to the fairy temple at the foot of the mountain on the south side, where the roast chicken is famous far and wide.
