#themepark One of the most underrated tourist destination in Japan. I wish a lot more people would come to this place. Its less than 2 hours from Tokyo via the luxury train Spacia X. The place is highly interactive, everyone makes you feel really transported to the Edo period. All day shows and activities for the whole family until closing time. Went here three times already. I would like to introduce "Nikko Edo Village" in Tochigi Prefecture. As the name suggests, Nikko Edo Village is a theme park that recreates the streets of Edo. It is close to Kinugawa Onsen, so you can enjoy it by including it in your Kinugawa trip. There are several performances (shows) held at Nikko Edo Village. Each show is about 30 minutes long. The performance at the "Minamimachi Magistrate's Office" is particularly fun because it is full of laughs and improvisation. There are also other performances such as the Oiran Dochu, where actors dressed as oiran parade through the Edo Village, a performance focusing on ninjas, and a performance using water, so it is a good idea to check the time schedule and combine them to take a walk around Edo Village in between. In Edo Village, there is a place called Jigokuji Temple that represents hell, but be careful as it is quite creepy and scary. It may be a bit difficult for children. There are also many other spots where you can experience things such as rice cracker baking and ninja experiences, so please narrow down the ones that interest you and try them out. I recommend the Yakatabune. It costs extra to enter the park, but it takes you around the moat surrounding the Edo town, so you can experience a different atmosphere. The Ninja Training Hall is a spot that tests your sense of balance, and it's quite fun because the interior is slanted everywhere, giving you a strange feeling. There are also many restaurants, so you won't have any trouble finding something to eat. There is also a film studio on the premises, but it is not open to the public. We time-travelled back to the Edo Period (17th century) of Japan by going to Nikko Edo Mura. It is known in English as Edo Wonderland. It is located in Nikko, Tochigi Prefecture. It is a village referenced from the designs of the villages during Edo Period. People can avail of the Kimono Rentals and all the other shows once a ticket is bought. When we went there, we wore Kimono, rented swords, and took lots of pictures! #wintergetaway
