Mama’s Langkawi Adventure: A Day of Scenic Views, Seafood, and Serenity
#favouriteitinerary
This was Mama’s first visit to Langkawi, a trip she had been eagerly awaiting for quite some time. With excitement in the air, we booked a private car day tour through Klook, and it was a great choice! The driver was incredibly attentive, patient, and even helped look after Mama while I queued for cable car tickets.
Our adventure began at Langkawi SkyCab, a must-visit for first-timers. You can easily spend half the day here, so arriving early (before 11 AM) is key to avoiding the crowds—come right after breakfast. I had pre-booked tickets for the cable car, Sky Bridge, and Sky Glide through Klook, but unfortunately, we still had to queue to collect them. The Sky Glide was also under maintenance, which meant a 20-minute climb on narrow stairs to reach the Sky Bridge—not ideal for seniors. Despite this, Mama was determined and conquered the climb, rewarded with stunning panoramic views. The glass-bottomed section of the bridge added a thrilling touch, though it’s not for the faint-hearted, especially on windy days when the bridge gently sways.
Next, we stopped at Gua Maha for a comforting bowl of seafood porridge—perfect for the sweltering weather. The restaurant also offers bird’s nest products, and there’s even a cave where you can enjoy a sip of the delicacy.
After lunch, we visited Thean Hou Temple for a quiet moment of prayer. The midday heat meant we had the temple to ourselves, which was peaceful but short-lived as we moved on to our next destination.
A quick stop at Langkawi Fair Shopping Mall revealed limited options, so we didn’t stay long. Instead, we headed to Eagle Square, an iconic photo spot in Langkawi. Visiting in the evening is highly recommended to avoid the scorching sun, but parking can be challenging, so plan accordingly.
Our final stop was Maha Tower, where we strolled along the river and soaked in the breathtaking sunset—a perfect way to end the day.
Langkawi offered us scenic views, delicious food, and cherished memories. It was a day well spent, and Mama left with a heart full of joy!
