Impressions of visiting Duxing Ten Villages
#2月好地方2025
This visit to Duxing Village in Penghu gave me a deeper understanding of this historic military village. Duxing Village was originally a military camp during the Japanese occupation, and later became a housing estate for military dependents. It has now been converted into a cultural park that preserves and displays the life of the past.
Wandering through the alleys of Duxing Village, you can feel the strong nostalgic atmosphere. The mottled red brick walls, low houses, and old wooden doors and windows all tell of the past times here. I particularly like those preserved old houses, which are filled with many daily necessities of the time, such as black and white TVs, bamboo chairs, old-fashioned telephones, etc., making people feel like traveling back in time.
What attracted me most was the "Pan Anbang Memorial Hall". Pan Anbang is a well-known singer in Penghu. His song "Grandma's Penghu Bay" made many people know this beautiful island. In the memorial hall, I saw many photos, records and life stories related to him, and felt his deep affection for his hometown.
In addition, Duxing Village also has some art installations and cultural and creative stores, which make this old military dependents' village full of new vitality. I saw some handicrafts and specialty products here. Each piece has the local characteristics of Penghu, making people want to take a few home as souvenirs.
This visit allowed me to better understand the history and culture of Penghu, and also to appreciate how Duxing Village has given new life to old buildings through preservation and renovation. If I have the chance to visit Penghu again, I will definitely come here again to experience this unique historical atmosphere.
