Gold Coast Imported Food Store
Chef’s Cut
Shop S11-12, G/F, Gold Coast Shopping Centre
Chose a staycation at a Gold Coast hotel. The next day, I stopped by the nearby shopping mall for lunch and picked "Chef's Cut".
The restaurant has two entrances, one of which leads directly to the dining area, and the other entrance is the attached imported food store and frozen meat store; exactly the same as the name of the restaurant. Using one shop to run two businesses at the same time is a very smart approach, especially suitable for residential estates on the Gold Coast. This place is far away from the city and is a country of its own. Residents can stay at home on weekends and Sundays, and can only patronize the restaurants or food stores in the only shopping mall.
The interior space is long and narrow, with an open bar and kitchen on one side and a row of four-person tables on the other.
#Smoked Duck Breast Risotto with Spinach and Orange Sauce A lot of cheese was used to cook the risotto, but unfortunately it lacked the freshness of the clear chicken soup, the taste was a bit monotonous, and the pure white risotto did not look attractive enough. The fried smoked duck breast was a bit overcooked, the duck fat wasn’t fragrant enough, and the meat wasn’t tender enough. The best taste is the small amount of orange sauce, which is perfect with duck breast.
#Matured rib-eye steak with stir-fried potatoes and vegetables The quality of the steak from the imported frozen meat shop is certainly not bad, but when placing the order, I clearly asked for it to be medium-rare, but it turned out to be more than 80% rare, or even close to well-done. A lot of gravy was lost, but fortunately the meat was rich in flavor.
Finally, I picked a special dessert, Gelato Marshmallow Tiramisu, from the à la carte menu. You can tell from the name that this is not an ordinary tiramisu, but the difference is so huge that it completely loses the flavor of tiramisu. The taste of the main ingredients such as mascarpone cheese, coffee liquor, soft Italian ladyfingers, etc. has basically disappeared completely; the whole dessert does not have the slightest aroma of coffee liquor, and the Italian ladyfingers have turned into crispy cookie crumbs. The round cake in the middle that was most like tiramisu was overly sweet, and its texture was a combination of firm, soft and crispy, which was a bit weird. Looking more closely at the menu introduction, it turns out that the dessert is just as its name suggests, Tiramisu Marshmallow Gelato. I originally wanted to eat Tiramisu, but this variation was less than satisfactory.
The taste is average, just average. However, there is no other choice if you live in Gold Coast, unless you take a special bus to Tuen Mun.
