The Queen Mother's Palace, located on the hills of Doi Thong Mountain, is a place worth seeing in Chiang Rai. The palace was built on December 23, 253 of the Buddhist calendar, and the then Queen Mother personally presided over the foundation stone laying ceremony of the main column. The palace is entirely made of wood, based on the traditional architecture of northern Thailand and the typical design of Europe and Switzerland. The interior is divided into two floors. The upper floor is the living room of the Queen Mother, and the four bedrooms are interconnected. 10 numbers from 1 to 9 to 0 are engraved on the stairs on the second floor, symbolizing the cycle of human life. The ceiling of the hall is covered with cloud-like patterns made of pine wood. The garden outside the palace is planted with plants and trees that are unique to northern Thailand.
