[2025 Shanghai Attraction] Travel Guide for Dishui Lake (Updated Jan)

Dishui Lake is the man made body of water at the tip of Shanghai province and currently is under a huge redevelopment. If you zoom in on the tip of Shanghai on your map you'll find a perfectly circular lake and that's the destination of choice for the ride we took. Getting to Dishui lake from downtown Shanghai is a simple enough ride, but it will involve a ferry journey (Mask and transport code/card). There are multiple crossings of the Huangpu river, but my preference in the crossing at the bottom of Fuxing road. From there you'll need to navigate about 8/10km south through traffic and generally people not worrying about you safety. After that you'll reach farmland, clear roads and completely flat terrain bar a few bridges, until you get to your destination. Dishui Lake is very close to a container shipyard, so do mind that you don't end up on a path to gigantic vehicles and metal boxes. There are plenty of stops for drinks and snacks in most of the route, but they become more scarce in the farmland stretch. About 25/30km. if you use Baidu maps you can locate the Gas stations and stores if required.

If you are looking for a place to enjoy the western foods with perfect lake view in Shanghai, Kiwaina Dishuihu is recommended. It located beside the lake walking path of Dishuihu lake (south part of Shanghai city). This restaurant is very clean and tasty. We have ordered some Italian pizza, spaghetti seafood, grilled chicken and Kiwaina salad with topping with some Kiwi fruit, it is perfect combination. This place has rest room, which is quite convenient especially for kids. In the afternoon they also have afternoon tea set, I like cappuccino coffee here very much. For this Dishuihu lake, there is a metro line 16, and the last station is this lake. You can come to visit and relaxing during the weekend. #lakeview

Lingang new city is located in southeastern Shanghai, rapidly developing into a gorgeous and beautiful city surrounded by green areas, Dishui lake, canals, wetlands and Nanhuixincheng beach. If you are going around the Dishui lake you might find very areas of shadow (desperately, in a very hot summer morning) and rest. This scenic spot is the best in all Dishui Lake China Masters Theme Sculpture Park. This spot gives you the whole view of the lake and a nice view of Dishuihu West Island (although is under construction and we were not able to enjoy it that much). It has a public bathroom, extremely important if you’re walking around this area. We found lots of people taking pictures, eating ice creams and children playing freely. This is the major shadow spot, so most people stays around here. Kiwiana restaurant it’s not only located within the Lingang New City Main Urban Area City Park (for some reason, this area has a very long name and it’s divided in units), but has this amazing view of the lake. This New Zealand style restaurant is an amazing option to explore, restaurant architecture and ambience is beautiful. Also, it’s located among the area of sculptures, so you can go for a walk after your meal. We didn’t eat here because of time, and My companion’s reluctance to try foreign food. However, I’ll definitely will be coming back soon. A few steps from the lake you can find Shangu Noodles, very crowded place and highly recommended. Plates are big, ambience is calm and try to give an old Beijing city impression (according to my Chinese friend). Although, we found the noodles to be a bit salty. Considering this area is still under construction, you find many empty buildings or relatively expensive restaurants, therefore this is still a good option near the lake. Any plans for this long weekend? Come to visit the Dishui Lake and Lingang’s Shopping Festival! This festival has many games and food available for people visiting Dishui Lake and willing to have a lot of fun this weekend. Lingang New Area has a extension of 5.6km, mostly characterized for commercial buildings or research facilities. Nevertheless, this festival target to increase tourism, showing the public the beautiful coastal area so near from Shanghai downtown and all the fun activities you can do here. Dishui is the largest artificial lake in China. It’s diameter of 2.5km forms a perfect circle. This festival goes from metro exit to bordering part of the Dishui lake. Tjere were not many people when I came, but seems the festival extended for few days. And you get a very nice surprise! For an amazing one-day trip near the city, come to Dishui Lake. Lingang area is located in Southern coast of Shanghai. With an area of 2.5km diameter, Dishui is the largest artificial “freshwater”lake in China. However, you can smell the salt in the air, probably due to beach proximity fresh and salty water mixture was inevitable. Did I mentioned the beach is also a couple kilometers away to make this day a full summer experience? Or to consider staying for the weekend. If you want to make it an adventure, you are welcome to go around the lake in bicycle, motorboat 🚤 , sailing ⛵️ or even fishing 🎣 (leisure only). On May 1, 2024, drive to the Dripping Lake in Lingang New City for a visit. Dripping Lake, this artificial lake, although a water conservancy project, is also a great recreational landscape in the Lingang area. Shanghai really has clamming spots that are both beautiful and not crowded. 💦Missed clamming during last year's National Day holiday, but this time, taking advantage of the Spartan race, we all came to Dripping Lake, so let's go clamming. 🌟From the east side of Donggang Avenue Dike Road to Nangang Avenue Dike Road around Dripping Lake, this 1/4 circle is all available for clamming, but I heard that it's not allowed to go down at Nanhui Mouth anymore (to be verified). 📍Clamming location: Nangang Avenue Dike Road (you can choose this location for self-driving or taking a taxi) 🅿️: This road is a T-junction, you can park on both sides at the end. ‼️This area seems to be under construction, there's a green wire mesh gate that you can go through, but it's all dirt roads, you can walk to the main road, and then the view becomes very open. ‼️After reaching the main road, walk about ten meters to the right, and there are steps down to the beach, you can walk down to the tidal flats. ➡️TIPS: 1⃣️After the tide goes out, it really becomes a muddy tidal flat, it's recommended to walk barefoot, wearing slippers will get you stuck. 2⃣️Bring proper clamming tools, plastic ones won't do, they will break. 3⃣️If you're bringing kids, it's advised to bring towels and water, the facilities are quite simple, and there's no place seen for washing up. 4⃣️Check the tide schedule for Luchao Port, make sure to go clamming after the tide has gone out, otherwise, it can be dangerous.⚠️ 5⃣️Always keep a close eye on your children‼️

What a cosy café/restaurant a little outside of Shanghai. You can spend all day here! Having a nice coffee in the afternoon. For dinner, this places is the perfect spot for a cozy evening. The food was delicious. Especially the salads hit the spot. I had the steak salad and it was so good! The dressing was better then what I had in Italy!
