Desaru Coast is a coastal resort area in Southeastern Johor, Peninsular Malaysia. The small town of Bandar Penawar serves as the area’s transport hub.
Whether you are traveling alone, with your friends or family, there are more than enough activities to keep your stay fun and awesome and alternatively, if you want to keep it low-key and relaxed, the place can still give you the quiet and peace as it is still laid-back and not too crowded.
For those bringing their kids in tow, there’s the Desaru Coast Adventure Water Park and the Ostrich Farms. If you love nature activities, a trip to the fishing villages in Tanjung Balau and the Desaru Fruit Farm are top options.
And then there’s the food. At 40-50 RM or around 10 USD, you can already feast on affordable seafood as the town is coastal in nature. Keep it local and definitely there will be plenty of affordable but decent food options.
The race started with a rolling start process in front of The Westin Desaru Coast Resort beachfront. The course is an inverted triangle swim, and in a clockwise direction. The swim was relatively smooth except for some little waves near the shore. Feedback from finishers were the presence of tiny shrimp-like creatures, or planktons. That’s open water swim for you and you will get through that.
The last 700m swim back was a hurdle for some, as they were fighting to keep it rightmost on waves that were coming from right to left. From the swim out is a good 200-300 meter jog to the transition area.
Another 200m jog from the transition area greets the athletes from where the bike mount area is. The long transition is worth it as this is one of the best bike courses in the triathlon racing circuit in Asia.
What made the bike course pop out in this review is two things: First, the roads are silky smooth (as Zohan would say it), almost perfect and immaculate road conditions. Second, the canopy of trees and vegetation is a welcome sight, especially in the Jalan Ladang Siang section. With the sun barely out, the canopy provided shade to the athletes. It is truly a refreshing view.
Despite the terrain being rolling and undulating, there is nothing too hard for most trained triathletes, except for a few steep sections. A cassette with 27 or 30 at the back is more than enough. Despite that, the course is not technical and plenty of straight sections can give triathletes time to keep their head down and steady. I thought the course would feature some coastal views, but the roadside view of plants, trees and vegetation does not disappoint.
Course was well marked and plenty of marshals and police/security on hand to control the minimal traffic on the course. On my coverage, there was very minimal vehicle-cyclist interaction, and could say that the bike course was almost exclusive to the participants.
Another long jog to the transition area greets the triathletes after the dismount area. As with any Siutheast Asian race, it should be hot on the

Nature getaway
Desaru fruit farm is indeed a good place to explore. They sell a package while you can try a 20min ATV route, 45-60min fruit tour with guide, and a 6 dishes 1 soup meal made of fruit. Reasonable price and good experience. Good for family or friends.

Flying to Johor Bahru, the airport is overwhelming where I am going to play, Desaru Coast. Desharu's Fruit Garden, the largest tropical fruit garden in Malaysia, you can get a close look at the cold knowledge of various Southeast Asian fruits, as well as rabbits playing ~ being recognized by fans and courtesy, then from Australia And the sports planning expert in Singapore, made the J step guest of the fourth episode of "J Steps in the World" ~ [Desaru

Visited Desaru Fruit Farm in Desaru Fruit Garden, I have seen passion fruit, avocado, jackfruit, breadfruit, carambola, lotus, mangosteen, ginseng fruit, lime, nine-story tower, and have not seen Many uncommon fruits and plants such as Luoshenhuamao, Qianzhijiao, leprosy, cocoa, sorrel, galangal, curry leaves, stevia, and ghost pepper. In addition to full of happiness, you can also eat fruit feast, full of food.

Our trip to Desaru was a perfect beach getaway. The pristine coastline and calm waters were ideal for relaxation. We enjoyed Desaru Coast Adventure Waterpark, which was a hit with the kids, and took a peaceful walk through the lush Desaru Fruit Farm. The fresh seafood at local restaurants was a treat. Had a wonderful experience at the desaru fruit farm today!! Not only being interactive with the group but also gave an explanation about the fruits, plantations and the tour with the aid of daily life reference. For example how is the item is incorporated in dish, what are the benefits of the leaves that could be eaten or drink as tea. Overall it was a nice tour and the walk didn’t feel like it was 45-60mins. Felt like a little kid having an excursion!!

A Unique Fruit Farm
Interesting place to visit in Desaru - Malaysia!
This fruit farm is very unique on its own. Farm does not sell fruits only, but there are several activities to enjoy here. You can easily spend half a day here. We bought a package with a tour to fruit farm, animal farm, ATV ride, and lunch.
The tour to the farm was very informative. The animal tour, on the other hand, was very fun. You can buy food and feed the animals which we skipped. Lunch was decent for vegetarians. I wish they had more variety in vegetarian meal, but the fruit buffet was a lit together with the plum powder, it was simply great.
The ATV ride was the highlight of the visit. How 45 minutes passed, we did not realise even. It was very exciting and memorable experience for us. Even the gift shop is amazing to buy stuff and very economical.

Great day out at fruit farm 🍎🍊🍋🍇🍉
#summerbreak
We booked the guided tour, lunch & fruit buffet package for RM78 which was quite a good deal.
The tour started with a ride on a covered lorry to the starting point. Our guide was very knowledgeable and showed us different plants, trees and herbs throughout the tour. We went for the 3pm slot and there wasn't many people in the group.
The highlight of the tour was the last stop at the petting zoo. We got to feed the rabbits and goats which was a lot of fun.
On the way back, there's also a honey tasting.
Fruit buffet: quality of fruits were excellent. We had watermelon, honeydew, mango, rock melon, banana, rose apple, papaya, pineapple and a few other fruits and most were sweet.
Lunch: The lunch was sumptuous. There were 7 dishes and 1 soup. We had white rice, tofu, chicken, spinach, prawns, fish, squid and chicken/vege soup.
The farm offers ATV ride around the farm too.

2hrs of fun with the kids at the Desaru Fruits Farm. Once u reach, register for the fruit farm tickets. Hop on a open truck which takes about 3mins or so to ferry you into the fruit farm. A local guide will then walk you through some of the fruit trees and there's a 10mins break for fresh juices (5RM). Thereafter, you get to visit the small animal farm and get to feel sheeps, rabbit, etc and see others like ostrich.

Fruits & Fun At Desaru Fruit Farm
Desaru fruit farm is a must visit place when in Desaru. The plantation is huge and the fruit farm tour comes with a guide who will explain every fruit on the farm clearly. It was a great insight to the differnt local fruits and plants and very educational for kids as well. A special truck ride will bring you to the inside of the farm and the kids love it.
After the farm tour, the kids can buy animal feeds at a nominal fee to feed the animals on the farm, such as goats, chickens, rabbits, etc. There was even a small petting area with cute raccoons in it. Fresh fruits are sold on the farm and we just had to purchase some. They were sweet and juicy! Other activities that can be done on the farm are ATV rides. The ride is about 20 minutes long and it was fun for my entire family. Come to desaru fruit farm and you will have an enjoyable time!
