Deqing Academy is the oldest surviving Confucian temple in southern my country and a national key cultural relic protection unit. Its Dacheng Hall is of great significance to the study of the architectural history of the Song and Yuan dynasties in my country and is a treasure of wooden structures in the Yuan Dynasty in Lingnan. The Academy is located in the Deqing Confucian Temple in Deqing County. It was first built in the fourth year of Xiangfu in the Song Dynasty (1011) and rebuilt in the first year of Dade in the Yuan Dynasty (1297). This solemn ancient building complex consists of the Dacheng Hall, Chongsheng Hall, Zunjing Pavilion, Xiangxian Temple, Xingtan and other buildings, covering an area of more than 8,000 square meters. It is a treasure of wooden structures in the Yuan Dynasty in my country. The original building complex of Deqing Academy covers an area of more than 3,900 square meters, facing north and south, with the Dacheng Hall in the middle, with the Civilization Gate, stone railings, and Panchi in front, and the Chongsheng Hall, Zunjing Pavilion, Minglun Hall in the back, as well as the two original halls in the east and west. The designer of the Dacheng Hall of Deqing Academy took a unique approach, breaking the traditional hall's "eight pillars supporting the air" wooden beam frame structure and adopting a unique form of "four pillars without a top" to meet the requirements of building disaster prevention. The main building, the Dacheng Hall, is famous for its "four pillars without a top" and is known as the pearl of ancient architecture in the south.
