One of the biggest cities in Poland got much less attention than it deserves. As it used to be an important textile centre it has multiple areas with old 19th century factories which were changed into leisure centres like Manufaktura or Off Piorkowska which are bustling with nigh live, alternative culture. It’s not a touristy centre so it has an authentic vibe with locals. #nightlife #authentictaste

Łódź is a city in central Poland, known as a former textile-manufacturing hub. One of my students from this city invited me to come and there was no better place to celebrate my birthday than in Łódź. The people are very accommodating and kind. In every places I go, the locals are the determining factor for me to decide if I go back to that place some day or not. Botanical garden with different plants, cactuses, orchids. Signs of the names of the plans only in the Polish language. Between the trees were small places with turtles, fish wich scaled the garden nice natural atmosphere.ice variety of cacti. The ticket was at a good price. Card payment for purchasing the ticket. There is a little shop where you can but the souvenirs, orchids and cacti. No card payment at the shop; payments only in zlotys in cash. But he nice lady accepted finally euros also. Parking available next to park; parking is free; but mostly occupied. This might not be the grandest palm house in the country but still, the palms are very impressive. The flowers and plants are just beautiful. Follow their events, as there are often some seasonal ones. We participated in live-butterfly exhibition. #lodz #palm #palmiarnia

If you happen to be in Lodz, the Radegast station is informative and eye opening. Inside the station is a newly constructed Lodz model and there is a art/history piece consisting of a tunnel you walk through. As you walk, lights come on with each region representing a year--images and text are used effectively. If you are in Lodz, a worthy stop particularly with a tour guide..educational and moving. The museum was undergoing some renovations, but even what we saw outdoors was moving. The station is small - just one old train and one small station building, with a few simple but impressive murals and plaques on the walls around it. A great place for children and adults, full of amazing plant species. You can see durian fruit here (the most smelly fruit in the world), mango and other fruit and flowers, also cactus. There is a cosy cafe on the first floor of Palmiarnia, where they serve delicious and huge cakes, tasty coffee and tea. You can play a board game there or just enjoy the view of squirrels running up and down trees outside. The building is surrounded by a beautiful park with willow trees, small amphitheater and caves. We found it by accident, almost missed it - it's tucked away in a small courtyard passage on the northern side of Piotrkowska, right next to Plac Wolności. It's a charming, surprising little site - worth dropping in if you're around! It's a wonderful place in Lodz at Piotrkowska street 3. In the yard, Joanna Rajkowska created "Róża Passage", gluing it with mirrors. The place is unique and simply fabulous. it's definitely worth visiting and taking pictures. Pasaż Róży is a kind of mirror installation covering the walls of the former Hotel Polski. The project by Joanna Rajkowska is the biggest glass mosaic in Poland. You will easily find it at beginning of main walking street in Łódź - Piotrkowska. #pasazrozy #lodz #poland

Most of the visitors to the city of Lodz are more-or-less aware that it is a very good example of the big industrial city that "burst-out" of the small village-like city in the second half of the XIX c. But only few of them have a knowledge, that this is probably one of the last places on the Earth where you can see "classic industrial town" with the factory (unfortunately now in ruins), proprietor's palace and workers dwellings. This is what Ksiezy Mlyn is. For some visitors it may be interesting, that in the second half of the XXth c. factory was still active, and that was the only working factory where pope John Paul II visited the mostly women crew. #ksiezymlyn #lodz #walking #historic

Łódź used to be a major industrial centre for Poland and Europe, factories, textiles etc. Also a city where different cultures lived next to one another. The city has fallen on harder times but still has a scrappy spirit and is clearly in the midst of a major upgrade to buildings, public spaces, historic sites etc to compete for the tourism dollar and try to show that it can offer something for international visitors. Piotrkowska street was and still is the main hub - with dilapidated buildings within site a block or two over. But on Piotrkowska itself you can see Łódź ‘ Architectural history from the 18th and 19th century and clearly how much money there was from industry and rich families. Very cool. Check out the Manufaktura zone not far from Piotrkowska for an equally cool look at what this increasingly trendy city is doing shed its shabby chic image. We found the city to be more open minded, perhaps as a result of the historical cultural intermingling as well as the arts scene, film school, fine arts students etc. Was very happy to visit this city - up and coming!!! #lodz #walking #street #piotrkowska

Karol Scheibler - one of the largest Lodz manufacturers built Księży Młyn - a factory-residential complex, a kind of city in the city. Consists of planned, architecturally structured factory buildings, housing estates, owner residences and executive villas with gardens, as well as streets and railway sidings, school, two hospitals, fire brigade, shops, gasworks and a factory club. Intensively revitalized now includes lofts, industrial zone, Herbst Palace - Museum, Book Museum, art studios, restaurants and cafes. All worth seeing, just like the neighboring historic Park Źródliska with The Cinema Museum, Palm House, two cafes and Lodz Film School next door. Huge potential, definitely. Given the limitations, the way this potential was taken advantage of is quite good. But only quite. Lots of really interesting tenement houses - yet many facades not in order yet. Of course, a few steps from the street, it's already a ruin. Themed sets of monuments are definitely a strong point and a neat feature. Limited traffic, lots of cyclists. No idea for greenery and lack of decision whether it should be more of a street or more of a promenade. The authorities and owners have first steps undoubtedly behind them, but still a long way to go. #lodz #walking #street #piotrkowska

A souvenir shop that I happened to visit while walking along the longest street in Europe. It was the first time I learned that Polish ceramics are famous. The colors are gorgeous, but the place has a quiet feel.

How to get there: 2 hours from Warsaw Airport Attractions: The longest straight-line distance in Europe Former Jewish ghetto Honestly, you can see everything in one day. If you have the time, I recommend staying for two days and going around.

This city, once famous for its textile industry, has now transformed into a charming city full of modern art, culture and historical heritage. Lodz is not as solemn as Warsaw, nor as quaint and elegant as Krakow. Instead, it is a wonderful fusion of a unique industrial heritage and modern art, a spirit of continuous innovation in the sedimentation of history, which deeply attracts me. My trip to Lodz began with an exploration of its unique industrial heritage. Łódź was once an important textile center in Europe, leaving behind many historically significant textile factory buildings. Most of these buildings have now been transformed into art centers, museums or cultural venues, becoming a unique urban landscape of Łódź. I first visited the Manuel Lange Textile Factory (Manufaktura), a huge textile factory complex that has now become a complex integrating shopping malls, museums, hotels and entertainment facilities. Walking in the factory, I felt like I was in a huge art museum, feeling the fusion of history and modernity. The red brick walls tell of the prosperity of the past, while the modern facilities show the vitality of the city. At the Manuel Lange Textile Factory, I visited the Polish Film Museum (Muzeum Kinematografii). Many precious film materials and the development history of Polish films are exhibited here. As a film lover, I was deeply attracted by the rich exhibits here and felt the charm of Polish films. The museum is also cleverly designed, perfectly integrating modern exhibition technology with historical buildings. Next, I strolled through the Old Town (Stare Miasto) of Lodz. Most of the buildings here are in the style of the 19th and early 20th centuries. They are well preserved and each building is like a work of art. I walked through the narrow streets, admiring the buildings full of stories and feeling the breath of history. Although not as large as the ancient towns of other cities, the Old Town of Lodz exudes a unique charm, a simple and warm atmosphere. I also visited the Cathedral of St. Mary (Archikatedra Świętej Marii) in Łódź. This church has a long history and magnificent architecture. Its Gothic architectural style is breathtaking. The interior of the church is beautifully decorated and full of religious solemnity and sacredness. I sat quietly in the church, feeling the historical atmosphere emanating from this ancient building and the cultural heritage it carries. The artistic atmosphere in Lodz is everywhere. There are exquisite murals painted on the walls of many buildings. These murals are not only works of art, but also the embodiment of urban culture. They tell the history and culture of Lodz and also showcase the artistic talent of the people of Lodz. I especially liked the murals depicting the textile factories and the workers' lives, which gave me a deeper understanding of the history of Lodz. Shopping is also a pleasure in Lodz. From high-end boutiques to traditional shops, from souvenir shops to local craft shops, you can find everything. I bought some souvenirs typical of Lodz, such as Lodz textiles and local handicrafts. These souvenirs not only left me with fond memories, but also made me feel the enthusiasm and vitality of Lodz. In Łódź, I also tried many local delicacies, such as Polish dumplings (Pierogi) and Polish sausage (Kiełbasa). These delicacies not only satisfied my taste buds, but also made me feel the Polish food culture. Although the food in Lodz is not as famous as that in other big cities, it has its own unique flavor. During my few days in Lodz, I also participated in some local activities, such as attending local concerts and participating in local traditional cultural performances. These activities not only made me feel the enthusiasm and vitality of Lodz, but also gave me a deeper understanding of the culture of Lodz. Must visit when you are Łódź, it’s short walking distance from the famous Pietrkowska walking street. Manufaktura is a beautiful shopping district with everything you need from restaurants, cafes, clothing stores, supermarkets and even cinema. There are many spots to take fun pictures too. The Ferris wheel right next to delicious donuts place makes your visit magical. 🎡

#2024wish During my vacation in 2023, I visited the Łódź Zoo and had an unforgettable experience! The entrance fee was reasonable, around $15 per adult, which I found to be worth every penny. 🎟️ The zoo is beautifully landscaped and well-maintained, providing a natural habitat for a wide variety of animals. 🦁🐒🐧 I was amazed by the diversity of species, from majestic lions to playful monkeys and adorable penguins. Attractions - Lodz Cinema Museum, Piotrkowska Street and other places Hotels - Hostel Umed(The facilities in the hotel are very convenient and there is even a big kitchen for us to get some social life with different people. The receptionist is so helpful and she told us a lot of things to notice.) Food & Restaurants - Restaurant named Shamo located in the Piotrkowska Center（I would like to recommend the duck and red curry chicken, and green marcha. The Asian style cuisines really met my tastes.）

I had some nice time there earlier this week. The film was okay, easy to understand, especially for children. It's great that after the film there's possibility to ask some questions connected with space and universe and the demonstrator answers them or shows extra material on the subject. Good to see: You can join the introductions to the planet in several kind of projection. For example winter sky; Sky about Lodz ect. Additional they offer the music presentation of famous group in the planetarium. Unfortunate I did joint Pink Floyd: The Dark Side of The Moon , but it must be good fun to be there during the movie. #lodz #polska #planetarium #ec1
