Mykonos the Couple’s Island 🇬🇷
#coupletravel
My partner and I just returned from a dreamy vacation in Mykonos, and it was everything we hoped for and more! 🌞 The island's beauty is simply stunning, with its iconic white-washed buildings and crystal-clear waters. We stayed in Mykonos Town, which was perfect for exploring the charming narrow streets and discovering cozy cafes and boutique shops. 🛍️
One highlight was visiting the famous Paradise Beach. The entrance was free, and we enjoyed lounging on the sandy shores and swimming in the turquoise sea. The beach vibe was lively, with great music and beachside bars. 🍹 We also made a day trip to Delos, an ancient archaeological site just a short boat ride away. The entrance fee was about €12, and wandering through the ruins was like stepping back in time. 🏛️
In the evenings, Mykonos Town came alive with fantastic dining options. We had an incredible meal at a local taverna with fresh seafood and traditional Greek dishes. 🌊🍽️ For a romantic night out, we enjoyed cocktails with a sunset view at one of the bars overlooking the harbor. 🌅
Mykonos is the perfect blend of relaxation and adventure. Whether you’re soaking up the sun on beautiful beaches or exploring historical sites, it’s a getaway that offers something special for every couple. ❤️ #trip #Mykonos #ParadiseBeach #GreekIslands #SunsetViews #CoupleGetaway

Welcome to Ancient Greece ❤️

My visit to Delos Island in Greece was like stepping back in time! 🏺⏳ This UNESCO World Heritage site is known for its ancient ruins and mythological significance, and it definitely lives up to its reputation. To get there, I took a ferry from Mykonos, which cost around €20 for a round trip. The entrance fee to the island itself was €12, a small price to pay for exploring one of the most important archaeological sites in the world. 🚤💶
Walking among the ruins of temples, statues, and mosaics, I felt like I was walking through history. Highlights included the Terrace of the Lions, with its row of stone lions that have guarded the island for centuries, and the House of Dionysus, which features a stunning mosaic of the god himself. 🦁🏛️ Climbing Mount Kynthos, the highest point on the island, provided incredible panoramic views of the surrounding sea and islands. Don’t forget to bring water and a hat, as the sun can be quite intense!
Nearby, the Delos Archaeological Museum houses some of the artifacts found on the island, offering more insight into its rich history. If you're staying in Mykonos, it's easy to pair a visit to Delos with a day of exploring the beaches and nightlife back on the main island. 🏖️🌅 Delos might be uninhabited, but its ancient energy makes it feel so alive. #trip #DelosIsland #AncientGreece #GreekMythology #ArchaeologicalWonders #IslandHopping

There is a map at the entrance
There is a bottled water dispenser at the museum entrance
But there is almost no shade to wait for the boat
So bring sunscreen 😂

Magical Mykonos: Greece's Island of Winds
Mykonos, a gem in the Aegean Sea, is one of Greece's most famous and vibrant islands, renowned for its picturesque whitewashed villages, lively nightlife, and stunning beaches. Part of the Cyclades island group, Mykonos epitomizes the beauty of Greek island life with its narrow, maze-like streets, iconic windmills, and crystal-clear waters.
What to Expect
Visitors to Mykonos are greeted by the island's charming capital, Mykonos Town (also known as Chora), where traditional Cycladic architecture meets chic boutiques and seaside cafes. The island is also home to numerous beaches like Paradise and Super Paradise, which are not only beautiful but also centers for beach parties and social gatherings.
Experiences and Recommendations
Strolling through Mykonos Town, visitors can explore the quaint Little Venice area where buildings hang precariously over the edge of the sea, offering stunning ocean views and an array of dining options. A visit to the Panagia Paraportiani church, a striking structure featuring four chapels in one, is a must for architecture lovers. [World Heritage Site] A must-visit at least once in your life! Delos Island, where the entire island is a World Heritage Site🏛️🇬🇷
Delos, a World Heritage Site in Greece✨It's an island that can be reached by ferry in about 30 minutes from Mykonos!
Delos is an uninhabited island that can only be visited during the day! There are only two ferry trips a day😳
If you go, it's recommended to take the 10:00 ferry and return on the 13:30 ferry!
In fact, this is pretty much your only option😂
And of course, there are no places to rest (benches, etc.), so during your stay, you'll be walking around in places with almost no shade...!
🌟What is Delos? ┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈
According to Greek mythology, it is the birthplace of Apollo, the sun god, and Artemis, the moon goddess, who were the children of Zeus and Leto!
It is also known as the place where the Greek city-states centered on Athens formed the Delian League in the 5th century BC.
It was already inhabited around 2000 BC, and prospered as a political and economic center. After that, the island went through a history of wars and plundering, became a den of pirates, and the whole island was abandoned.
It was forgotten until excavations began in 1873. Delos is a valuable place with many ancient ruins, centered around the Temple of Apollo, and excavations are still being conducted today. It was registered as a World Heritage Site in 1990!
👀What you can see on Delos┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈
︎︎︎︎☑︎ Delos' symbol lion statue🦁Dedicated in the 7th century BC. There were originally nine of them, but due to theft and other reasons, there are now only five! The ones outside are replicas, and the real ones are kept in the museum. ︎︎︎︎
☑︎ Residential ruins and theater ruins🏠The houses of wealthy merchants remain. The House of Dionysus, the House of Cleopatra, the House of the Dolphin, etc. ︎︎︎︎
☑︎ Ancient Theater🎩 A large theater that can accommodate 5,500 spectators! Currently, only the seats stacked in a semicircle remain︎︎︎︎
☑︎ Mount Kinthos⛰ A mountain with an altitude of 110m. At the top of the mountain is the Sanctuary of Zeus. There are also many other interesting spots such as the Temple of Isis!
🚨⚡Things to note when going around Delos┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈
⚠️Hats, sunglasses, comfortable shoes, water, and sunscreen are essential!!! (I was wearing a UNIQLO UV hoodie)︎︎︎︎⚠️The island is relatively untouched, so it is hardly maintained😳︎︎︎︎⚠️You will be walking a lot, so it is best to carry less luggage! ︎︎︎︎⚠️If you are concerned about the overgrown plants and snakes, we recommend that you wear clothes that are not too revealing⚠️There is only one museum and cafe on the island of Delos, and no vending machines or convenience stores! ⚠️There are no buildings that provide shade, so sun protection is a must! ⚠️There are only a few ferries, so be sure to check the times! ⚠️If you get seasick, bring medicine with you⚠️The only toilet is at the entrance gate to the island. Be sure to use it before going around the island
💬Comments┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈
A world heritage site that feels an incredible history...! It's really amazing that so many things from before the Common Era remain! It's worth visiting at least once in your life✨
Ancient residential areas and theater ruins remain. The mosaic with a dolphin motif is a must-see🐬It is recommended to input knowledge in advance, such as which ruins are what! Just like other cities in Greece, there are lots of cats 🐈
I went in May, but the sun was still strong, so if you go in the middle of summer, you must take precautions! Make sure to bring sun protection such as a hat and sunglasses, and water! ...

It’s an ark of history, floating lazily on the waters of the Aegean Sea, just a few miles away from cosmopolitan Mykonos. It’s a chance to walk around the revival of the glory of the Greek civilization. It’s the head priest of the Cyclades, the birthplace of the immortals. It’s Delos.
In the ancient times, the myth of god Apollo, god of light, and goddess Artemis having been born there rendered the island sacred: no mortal would ever be allowed to be born on its land. But, a cradle of gods as the island has been, no mortals would ever be allowed to die on it either. So, apart from it being a conspicuous religious and economic centre, the island had also been exclusive in that: even during the years of peak of the Delian Alliance, women on the brink of childbirth and people close to dying would be carried to the neighbouring island of Rineia. The whole of the known world of that age was aware of the sacredness of the island and of its uniqueness.
Nowadays, Delos reserves its uniqueness to the know world: nowhere else in the Globe is there a natural insular archaeological site of this size and importance. No other island on Earth hosts so many monumental antiquities from the Archaic, the Classical, and the Hellenistic periods, i.e. the centuries of the great Greek art, on a territory used exclusively as an archaeological site. Delos is not a museum; Delos is not there to tell a story. Delos is history itself.
Visitors coming from the neighbouring islands are not there on an educational trip; they have rather embarked on a lifetime experience. And, as if by magic, the sacredness of the island lives on: the multitudes of people, who flock to share the island’s uniqueness, can do nothing but just visit it. The archaeological experience is the one and only activity the island is about. Its enchanting landscape is home to nobody. History is thus repeating itself: in a place of such importance, no person is ever born or dies.
