Berlin's Hidden Gem: DDR Museum
On Monday, I had set aside a day to visit all the museums on Museum Island, but unfortunately, many of them were closed as Monday is a public holiday. I recommend checking the opening hours before planning your visit to avoid disappointment. 😅
The DDR Museum is located right across from Berlin Cathedral. There are many foreign visitors, so expect a queue, but you can buy tickets online in advance. The exhibits are both interesting and informative, making it a great visit for those interested in this period of history. The museum offers information in Chinese, which is quite convenient.
This museum mainly focuses on the division of Berlin by the Western Allies and the Soviet Union after World War II, with a particular emphasis on East Berlin and East Germany under Soviet control.
The historical explanations are thought-provoking and insightful.
