Datong Fahua Temple The three most worthwhile temples to see in Datong Ancient City are Huayan Temple, Shanhua Temple, and Fahua Temple. Fahua Temple is located in the eastern part of Datong Ancient City and is named after the Lotus Sutra (Fahua Jing) stored in the Fahua Pagoda in the temple. The Fahua Pagoda is the only existing inverted bowl-shaped glazed Lama pagoda in Datong. It was built in the late Yuan and early Ming dynasties and has a long history. Except for the Fahua Pagoda, the other buildings were rebuilt later. However, the new buildings are also wonderful and worth seeing. For example, the pavilion-style drum tower and bell tower in picture two are relatively rare, and the circular side door next to the main hall creates a Jiangnan garden-like atmosphere, making it a surprising photo spot. The white pagoda in picture nine is the most valuable Fahua Temple Pagoda, which is beautiful and elegant. However, it is visibly skewed. Don't miss it when you come to Datong!
