Historic buildings
Zhenlan Palace was built during the Yongzheng period, and it was named Zhenlan Palace because the mother of Mazu was able to quell Hai Anlan. In 1934, a major earthquake occurred in Qingshui and Houli nearby, causing heavy casualties, but the Dajia area was safe and sound. In 1980, people saw that the pillars and beams of the temple were decaying. After discussion by the congregation of believers, it was decided to demolish the old temple and rebuild the new palace on the original site, which took 8 years to complete. The Zhenlan Palace visited today is a new temple after reconstruction. It is the center of human development and religious belief in Dajia area, and it is also one of the centers of Mazu belief in Taiwan. The buildings of Zhenlan Palace include front hall, rear hall, north and south halls, north and south rooms, bell and drum towers, etc. The buildings are full of character stories, flowers, birds and trees, birds and animals, etc. Whether it is wood carving or stone carving, everything is colorful and ingenious. The surrounding area of the shrine is even more resplendent, and the layers of decoration exude a magnificent and solemn atmosphere. The inscribed plaques of several emperors in the Qing Dynasty now have historical value, such as the ancient plaques of "Protecting the Country and Protecting the People" and "You Ji Zhaoling" in the Qianlong period, the ancient plaques of "Working with Heaven" given by Emperor Guangxu, and Sincerely seek immediate response", "Ciguang Puzhao", "Gong Gong Gong Yi", etc., are all ancient relics that have been preserved since the Qing Dynasty. Zhenlan Palace is dedicated to the goddess Mazu, the Empress of Heaven, and also worships holy parents, Guanyin Bodhisattva, Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, Nanbeidouxingjun, Shennong Emperor, Wenchang Emperor, Twenty-eight Constellation, Eighteen Arhats and other gods and saints who are familiar to people and have many believers. Therefore, the temple is prosperous all the year round, and various celebrations and rituals are held every year. Among them, every year in the third month of the lunar calendar, "Our Lady of Heaven" makes a trip around the border to enter incense, which is an important event in the year. Every year, the day when Dajia Mazu travels around the country to enter the incense is not fixed. It is the Lantern Festival that year when the chairman of the management committee decides the date and time of the incense. They all bowed devoutly in accordance with the established procedures, places and times. Friends who are interested in folk culture and Mazu beliefs can go to the ceremony to fully experience the local cultural customs.
