The entire Da Hai Dao region features yardang landforms, with the most beautiful concentrated in Echo Wall, Fairy Cave (Sky-reaching Cave), and the Mars Camp core area. The pterosaur fossil site is located in Pterosaur Grand Canyon. It has greater historical significance than recreational value, and due to poor road conditions, stopping to explore is not recommended. For wind-eroded Gobi landscapes, the most representative is Secret Great Wall, where visible wind-eroded stone pillars point skyward, resembling ancient architectural ruins. Hami is really good as the first stop for traveling in Xinjiang. Although many things are closed in winter, all the attractions are basically included and the cost is not high. Day 1️⃣: Hami City, Gansu (the train arrives at Hami Station at 13:00 in the afternoon, a replacement version of Snowpiercer) Hami City Museum 👉 Muqam Heritage Center (Hami Melon Exhibition) 👉 Altun (basically closed in winter but you can go shopping. There is a shop selling jade. It looks good inside. The boss is also very nice. You can take pictures. There are obvious Xinjiang elements) I didn’t go to Huiwang Tomb and Huiwang Palace. The locals recommended Ayishamu’s desserts, which were just average. The pure love ice cream 🍦 is okay, but the yogurt rice dumplings taste a bit weird. I ate Xinjiang cuisine at Yiloulan after hearing the recommendation from a local. It was ok, but a little salty. Day 2️⃣: Devil City 👉 Dahaidao (go with a small off-road group, because it is off-season, it is basically the same as chartering a car) The Yadan landform is really shocking. After entering, it is an uninhabited area with no signal, so you need to bring some food and drinks in advance. Basically any random photo will turn out to be a blockbuster, and Tongtian Cave is the easiest place to take photos. In summer, you can camp, and if you are lucky you can see the Milky Way 🌌. It is too cold in winter, but there are fewer people in winter, so you don’t have to queue up to take pictures.
