More than 162 years old. DOM PEDRO Theatre was built inn 1860, the Buildings was name after the King of Portugal, D. Pedro V, who reigned from 1853 to 1861. This was the first of western style theatre in China. The Building was designed by Macanese Pedro Germano Marques and is neo classic in style. In 1873 , the building facade was redesigned by the Baron of Cercal to integrate a more sophisticated front portico . The building has a ballroom which opens onto a circular auditorium with a horse - shoe shaped balcony , altogether having a total capacity of 276 seats . Teatro de Pedro V (known as the Gangding Theatre, also known as the Maju Theatre, Gangdingbo Building), is an ancient theater located in the front of Gangding, Macau. It is recognized as the first Western style in China. theater. In 2005, it was included in the World Cultural Heritage List as part of the historic district of Macau.
